Love the truffle mushroom pizza! Personally prefer cream >>> tomato based pizza. Crust is thin. 2 pizzas shared by 2 pax.

For dessert, the Teochew Yam Paste ($9) was a sad portion for the price but a well-balanced rendition. Not all that sweet, the thick paste was smooth and fragrant. Either they added a little coconut cream or none at all, as the taste was savoury and predominately of yam which I think most prefer. I love that they served it really hot and with a fair number of lotus seeds which provided that sweetness.

Perfect for the rainy weather, the steaming Poached Seafood Crispy Rice with Seafood Stocks Pao Fan ($40/ regular) was belly-warming and came with a decent amount of sweet sliced fish, fresh scallops and prawns. The broth was pretty mild in taste with a light distinct sweetness so the rice crispies added that taste and textural oomph. A tip, please ask the staff to serve the crispy rice separately as it simply turned mushy when the pipping hot dish was served so the staff gave us extra cause we thought it was missed out.

The Pan Seared Hokkaido Cuttlefish with Squid Ink sausage ($28) was also a must-try (seen ordered by almost every table). Not knowing what to expect, I was pretty skeptical about the taste but you do get the sweetness of the cuttlefish in every bite. The seared edges were lovely and texture-wise it was lightly plump-chewy. Indeed resembling a squid-flavoured lup cheong of sorts.

Sticking to their recommended dishes, I had a pretty solid dinner at Shao Tapas recently. Offering a modern twist on traditional Teochew cuisine, the Marinated Roe Crab ($78) was simply divine. I haven’t tried all that many raw marinated crabs but their soy marinate was not too sweet-salty or overly spicy, had plenty of garlic (say yes to garlic breath) and their rendition tasted fresh overall. The chilled jammy roe was so lusciously shiok. It was pretty easy to eat as well as they cut it into really manageable pieces.

Craftsmen Coffee is a delightful find for anyone seeking indulgent café fare in a cozy, inviting atmosphere. With its thoughtfully crafted menu, this spot offers a delightful mix of sweet and savory dishes that cater to all cravings. Each item reflects a commitment to quality ingredients and well-balanced flavors, making it an ideal destination for brunch enthusiasts and dessert lovers alike.

The Honey Butter Toast, also known as the Classic Toast, is a standout dessert. The warm, golden-brown toast is topped with creamy vanilla ice cream and light, fluffy whipped cream. Almond flakes and a drizzle of vanilla honey sauce add a delightful crunch and sweetness, while the butterscotch drizzle provides a luxurious finishing touch. This dish is comfort food at its finest, elevated with refined flavors and textures.

The Crispy Chicken & Waffle was equally impressive. The house-marinated chicken wings and drumettes were perfectly fried, with a crispy exterior that locked in the juicy, tender meat. The buttermilk cheddar waffle had an excellent texture and a subtle savory flavor, holding up well under the generous pour of blanc maple syrup and hot sauce. This dish strikes the perfect balance between sweet and savory, making it a crowd-pleaser.

Craftsmen’s Benedict was a delightful dish with every bite. The black forest ham brought a rich, smoky flavor that paired wonderfully with the velvety poached egg and the slightly spicy kick of chipotle mayo. The English muffin was light yet sturdy, providing the perfect base for the toppings. The accompanying side salad added a refreshing crunch and balanced the rich flavors beautifully.

Finally, the Cinnamon Bun Latte was a true treat. This warm, creamy drink had the perfect balance of cinnamon spice and sweetness, making it the ideal companion to both sweet and savory dishes on the menu. It’s a comforting and indulgent beverage that rounds out the café’s offerings perfectly.

When it comes to claypot rice in Singapore, New Lucky Claypot Rice stands out as one of my absolute favorites. Located in Holland Drive, this humble eatery has mastered the art of delivering comfort food at its finest.

What sets New Lucky apart is its dedication to tradition. Each claypot rice is cooked to order over charcoal from scratch, ensuring a dish that is steeped in flavor and authenticity. The wait might be a little longer, but trust me, it’s well worth it.

The rice is the star of the show – soft, chewy, and perfectly cooked, with each grain wonderfully separable from the rest. The smoky aroma from the charcoal elevates the dish, while the flavorful medley of marinated chicken, Chinese sausage, salted fish, and vegetables ensures every bite is satisfying. Drizzle on their house-made dark soy sauce and mix it all together for a harmonious blend of savory goodness.

New Lucky Claypot Rice delivers an unforgettable experience that keeps me coming back. If you’re craving one of the best claypot rice in town, this is the place to be!

Ordered the most expensive Wagyu Don on a Saturday. With Burpple, I get the Anago Don free. And I can choose two items of side dishes and pay for only one. I chose Chawanmushi and Miso Soup. Quite a good place for lunch with a partner, using Burpple Beyond.

For those seeking a warm and indulgent dining adventure this December, the **Fireside Brunch at Fireplace by Bedrock** is an event not to be missed. Exclusively available on Sundays, this brunch buffet is the restaurant's way of celebrating its anniversary, offering a lineup that promises to delight both food connoisseurs and casual diners alike.

Kick off your brunch with options like the savory Bone Marrow Toast or the refreshing Watermelon Feta Salad. The smoked Stracciatella Cheese was particularly memorable, with its creamy texture and depth of flavor. The true star of the show is the **Aged Ribeye**, prepared with precision and care. Other highlights include the **6-Hour Wood-Fired Pork Belly**, **8-Hour Wood-Fired Roasted Lamb Leg**, and the zesty **Chili Lime Sakura Chicken**. Vegetarians and veggie lovers will appreciate the **Grilled Shiitake Mushrooms** and the indulgent **Truffle Mac & Cheese**—a perfect balance of earthy and rich flavors. End on a sweet note with delectable desserts like the **Spiced Rum Pineapple**, **Chocolate Coffee Cake**, and the nostalgic **Campfire Marshmallow**, which evokes the coziness of a fireside treat.

The venue is also pet-friendly, making it a welcoming choice for those who wish to enjoy a festive meal with their furry companions.
