The salmon belly sashimi came in generous portions with thick, buttery slices that melted in the mouth. The texture was rich yet fresh and the ikura on top added a burst of briny sweetness. It’s the kind of sashimi that stands out both for taste and presentation 》RM31.90

Finally managed to order this as it’s usually sold out when I come at a later timing. The clams were fresh and plump in a clear broth with a light seafood sweetness. I couldn’t really taste the sake but overall it was clean and comforting 》RM39.90

The chawanmushi was smooth and silky with shrimp, meat and mushroom inside the custard. Light in texture but flavourful, it’s made for a classic and easy starter 》RM8.90

Fragrant basmati rice served with spicy, savoury rendang beef, salty ikan bilis, crunchy roasted peanuts, and achar. The rice was nicely infused with premium spices, making it aromatic. The rendang beef had good texture, tender yet chewy, with fats that were easy to chew as well. Creamy and spicy, though it felt like something was missing, but overall still enjoyable.

So what is a san jian zhuang meatball? Honestly, I have no idea. It seems more like a shape difference, being rectangular instead of round, and larger than a regular meatball. Texture was indeed juicier since it could hold more soup, and it was denser and springier.

Plain, simple, chewy egg noodles tossed in a light savoury dark sauce, topped with minced meat, spring onions, and shallot. Served with a bowl of rich, umami soup containing three meatballs and one san jian zhuang meatball.

So what is a san jian zhuang meatball? Honestly, I have no idea. It seems more like a shape difference, being rectangular instead of round, and larger than a regular meatball. Texture was indeed juicier since it could hold more soup, and it was denser and springier.

Back to the noodles, I found them rather underwhelming. The taste did not quite hit the mark. If I needed to add soya sauce from the chilli provided, then it was certainly bland. At least the minced meat was decent, tender with a light marinade. The saving grace was the soup, which was rich in flavour and helped enhance the noodles. I guess my taste buds lean heavy, so perhaps those with a lighter palate will find this dish more enjoyable.
