[TANJONG PAGAR, SINGAPORE] If you want to treat yourself to a good lunch in a posh restaurant, @chefstavern is one option to think about! They have a variety of teishoku lunch sets ranging from $28-48 per pax, and we decided to get the premium ones π
The Wagyu Flank Steak π₯© ($48) was wonderfully executed, and it was soft enough to cut using a spoon. The sauces used were interesting, with flavours I've not tasted before. The Teishoku Set came with a variety of appetiser dishes and a choice of either a Japanese rice bowl or sourdough bread. Though I was slightly disappointed with the texture of the hanjuku egg, the vinegared rice made up for it and I was wolfing down that bowl!
If you are a fish lover, the Alaskan Black Cod π ($48) is an absolute banger. They somehow managed to pan fry the skin till it's really crispy, while making sure that the meat is perfectly cooked. A curry sauce is used to flavour the cod, which complements it well with its aromatics. Sourdough was chosen to mop up the curry sauce, and it was so soft and fluffy!
Just realised that there's 25% off total bill vouchers on #burpplebeyond π will come back with those vouchers!
Tucked in a cosy space in International Plaza, the space was minimalistic and inviting.
Standouts for me were;
Fatty Tuna/ Marinated Tuna π
- melt in your mouth and perfectly seasoned
Chawanmushi/ Warabi mochi
- mochi present in both dishes were so incredibly soft βοΈ
Each dish was explained to us as it was served, seeing the preparation before getting to eat it and it made all the difference. It was fun to chat with the friendly chef- learnt more about the different types of Omakase in SG!
Probably one of my most incredible omakase experience in singapore for the price point. Absolute worth every dollar of it. If you want to visit one of the best omakase im singapore this is definitely one of the place that has a well thought through menu and seasonal changes. The sake selections is pretty good and affordable too.
Sushi Muni offers a wonderful omakase experience in a cozy, quiet setting. Each dish is meticulously prepared, showcasing rare and unique ingredients. The minimalistic vibe enhances the intimate experience. The wet-aged fish adds depth to the flavors, and the dessert is a perfect, delightful finish. Highly recommended!
Tried the lunch course recently on a friendβs recommendation. The minimalist setting, well-paced service, and excellent food quality far exceeded the price point. Standouts were the ootoro and uni. The meal ended with a light dessert that wrapped up the experience perfectly. Definitely worth trying.
Had an omakase lunch set and it was such a well curated, enlightening experience for the senses.
They provided a unique offering of assorted dishes made with their own touches and housemade sauces.
Here are the list of items we had and my personal rating of them:
1. Salad w dried shrimps - tad bit salty but I like the combination
2. Chawanmushi πππ
- secret is in the mountain pepper that elevates the simple dish with a zesty, fresh taste
3. Cold noodles with tomato base
The texture of the noodles was so chewy, I really liked it
4. Knifejaw fish w vinegar rice sushi
- ishigakidai, taste was light and subtle, but nothing like we've ever tasted. Coupled with the light salt and vinegar, it was a delight
5. Marinated tuna πππ
- creamy, refreshing w a dash of yuzu
6. Amberjack w citrus pepper
- delayed fishy aftertaste, complemented well w the citrus
7. Spanish mackerel aging more than 12 days
- subtle taste that when combined w wasabi, did not really have a strong taste
8. Fatty tuna πππ
- so tender and bursting w flavor, melt in your mouth. The best fatty tuna sushi you could probably find in Singapore
9. Uni sushi
- so flavorful and delicate in balance
10. Slow cooked Scallop
- it enhances the yuzu flavor but this was my least favorite sushi
11. Minced fatty tuna w radished pickles πππ
- soooo gooood, again the combination was perfect
12. Tamago
So soft and light, their homemade tamago tasted like a light cake
13. Warabimochi and brown sugar sauce for dessert πππ
Hands-down the softest, most exquisitely delicate Warabimochi. The mochi beats Kamakura in terms of texture, though I prefer Kamakura's slightly roasted / bitter sauce over their brown sugar sauce.
Dining at Sushi Muni was an intimate and masterful omakase experience. Each dish showcased precision, seasonality, and a deep respect for Japanese tradition. Highlights included the silky chawanmushi, refreshing tomato somen, and an array of expertly crafted nigiri. The maguro was tender and pristine, while the saba delivered a bold, briny punch. Uni, served gunkan-style, was rich and indulgentβtruly a standout.
The negitoro maki provided a comforting finish to the savory courses, followed by delicate warabi mochi with kuromitsu, a sweet and elegant close to the meal. From the serene setting to the attentive service, Sushi Muni delivers thoughtful craftsmanship and understated excellence.
I had the pleasure of experiencing the lunch sushi course and it was truly an unforgettable experience! π€© This lunch sushi course offers exceptional value, combining high-quality ingredients with impeccable service. Loved every dish but the standouts for me were the ootoro, amberjack and tuna maki! π£
If you're looking for a quality sushi experience, this is an aboslute must-visit! ππ»
Very clean and relaxing ambience. Dishes are well served, especially their hotate sushi is one of the best I had before.
Sushi muni is one of the most affordable omakase experiences you can get in sg! My favourites were definitely the Amberjack with citrus pepper dressing, makimono chopped tuna belly (they chop it up right in front of you and you can see the delicious maki being made on the spot) and the chawanmushi was great as well.
Sushi Muni is really a hidden gem, great service from staff and food was up to standard, recommended π
very cosy japanese restaurant in the heart of CBD :) came here to try their lunch omakase - i was surprised that the basic set even included very fresh and delicious chuutoro and uni which were the highlights for me. dessert was a warabimochi made in-house which was extremely soft, pretty rare to see this in any jap restaurants! overall enjoyable experience and would come back for a nice lunch catch up with a colleague or client
