Although not as renowned as other BKT shops in Sg, Tuan Yuan BKT is actually rather good. It is flavourful and slightly peppery.

U can actually opt for more or less pepper for your soup, depending on your preference.

The Premium spare Ribs were so tender and was not dry or gamey at all. The meat easily slides off the bone.

You tiao was rather good as well crispy.

The soup is not too salty but there is a smell in the fish

𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐭 𝐫𝐢𝐛 ($14.50) - Signature option featuring generously-sized ribs and tender meat. Was also impressed by the 𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐤 ($9) which had an enjoyable soft chew.

𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐤𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐠𝐠𝐬 ($6.50) - Unassumingly simple but well-executed to a silky smooth finish and allowing the natural eggy flavour to shine through.

𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐯𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬 ($4) - Classic salty-tangy mix that was a refreshing balance to the peppery soup.

𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐮𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐝 ($4) - Crunchy cucumbers tossed in a flavourful spicy sauce.

𝐓𝐚𝐮 𝐤𝐞𝐞 ($4) - Juicy beancurd skin in a herbal broth.

Pair with rice ($1) or slurp worthy mee sua ($2.80). Highly recommend the 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐨 ($3) that’s freshly fried to enjoyable crispness and absorbs the broth well for juicy and flavourful bite.

One of the more popular teochew porridge in SG, is located near Bukit Merah View Hawker.

Wide variety of dishes to choose from. The fish looks damn good to be honest, regret not ordering it, looking on with envy at the other tables eating it.

Fish cake was surprisingly the best dish I had today, the braised pork belly was also good.

But The chilli clams were a little pinkish(half cooked) and the anchovies were not salty at all, a bit tasteless. So will avoid these two dishes in future.

I will return for the fish!

Teochew porridge shop that serves the usual comfort food at a reasonable price even past midnight till 4 am. They offer an extensive range of dishes that satisfy almost anyone and everyone. Porridge is served hot with average and simple yet comforting dishes 》$9.70

Without a doubt one of the best porridge place in Singapore. Humongous number of different side dishes to choose from. Not the cheapest but still worth the price and the queue. Especially like the braised pork and the steamed fish cake. Sichuan vegetable and otah were also on point. Can skip the blanched sotong and La La, both were a bit tough and chewy.

My new go to place for Teochew Porridge.

Chilly weather warranted warm comforting meals and that's how we found ourselves at Ah Chiang's Porridge, a street corner establishment in the cosy Tiong Bahru neighbourhood. Slightly surreal to see Teslas and Porsches and whatnot parked by a porridge store but they made for good scenery.

Had the Mixed Pork Porridge ($4.50), Century Egg Sliced Pork Porridge ($5.50), Sambal Kangkong ($10), and a Soybean drink - total came up to $25.20. The porridge was oh so smooth and comfortingly delicious. Liver was the standout here, perfectly cooked with a soft and almost bouncy texture. Kangkong might seem pricey but portion was huge, enough for at least 3. Will return to eat more of the liver!

Decent porridge but would prefer them not to pour the soy sauce into the porridge.

They also serve deep fried wantons for $8 which I find it’s quite pricey.

Ah Chiang’s Porridge might be tucked at one corner and seemed to be moving kind of slowly here, but it was also at such a relaxed pace to feel the weekend vibes.

The Minced Meat Porridge (S$4.50) was, indeed, simple. Though it might not be easy to notice traces of the minced meat, I was still drawn to the smoothness of the congee and its light flavours. For more variety to the meal, one could simply order some vegetables or fried tofu to supplement the congee.

This place serves Cantonese style porridge which meant it was cooked to an absolute smoothness without any signs of boiled rice grains. Our bowl of porridge came piping hot with a smooth texture. It was rather bland to our taste buds so we added some soy sauce and pepper to suit our taste. The raw fish (salmon) was thinly sliced with not much taste other than sesame oil. I was hoping that it could be a little spicier for some kick. The price is slightly on the high side considering their serving is smaller than other places that serve congee. Overall not too bad for cold, chilly weather over a warm, healthy and hearty meal.

This restaurant has seen their haydays. Ever since new management, this lady is of the rudest you can find in the restaurant.

Porridge is no longer good. Taste that even a dog won’t want to eat. This is how rude the staff can be!

Please patronise this place at your own risk. I’ve banned this establishment for good! Please help spread the word, a place not even worth a dime to be dining in here!

Pork chop, minced meat, mushrooms. Their pork chop is the deep-fry until like biscuit kind. Wide variety of dishes here.
