Exclusively crafted in collaboration with Michelin-starred restaurant Candlenut, the weekend-only menu ($68 per pax) had a lovely selection of sweets and savouries. The highlights for me were Chef Lee’s lemak Mom’s Chicken Curry with crisp two-bite Prata puff pastries and spiced Laksa Crab Cake made with shredded blue swimmer crab. As for the sweets, Chef Yee’s freshly baked Rempah Udang scones that came with a house-made pineapple jam and clotted cream were lovely. The piquant Cempedak Crème Brûlée was a nice surprise as well with the smooth chilled and rich-tasting custard under the crunchy layer of crystallised sugar.
(9 inch cake - $108) We did research via online for birthday cake within 1 month before taking reservation via call or email which the person have requested personally for old fashioned design type for cake but not into modern design type for cake. tbh I felt that cake size was quite big and also can accomodated around 12 to 16 people for serving size. The taste for cake was quite sweet, creamy and bitter but then at least they put some brandied (brandy flavour) cherries in between the cream taste like not that sweet. I felt that it was quite jelak for me when I eat the slice finish. I personally don't like shaved chocolate on the surface of the cake and made everything to be messed it up and a lot of stains on the cake box.
($2.50) I just literally eat bonbons on spot when I collect from the counter. The taste is so good that taste bitter from chocolate slowly to sweet from matcha nara, white chocolate. Such a nice and equal balance on the tastebubs itself.
($2.50) I decided to eat maracon immediately when I reach on my house area lol. It's quite crunchy texture but then it's quite a slightly sweet but not much in bitter taste tbh.
A lot of wrong. The horfun was undercooked, it's tiny and the pig skin made no sense. Why add soggy pig skin?
An atas plate. Comes with beef cheek rendang, assam sambal prawns, sotong hitam and har cheong gai. It flattered to deceive, given every item's in tiny portion. The rice was average while the chilli's non-existent. Only the chicken and nuts were good, while the pickled cucumber was interesting.
Sounds great. The youtiao was crazy crispy and the calamari was large and well battered. True to Sinpopo's brand, the prawn paste smell was wicked, probably wafting to the next tables. Heads up the dish is also very simple.
