Plum Soda ($5)
Strong, fizzy, and citrusy!

Ice Lemongrass ($3)
Smooth, lightly sweet and pleasant!

A bit underwhelming, not shiok enough! The portion was okay, but the cockles were too small to truly enjoy. The unique Thai flavours were there, and the spiciness was mild. Mehhh…

Glass noodles soaked up the savoury soy and oyster sauce beautifully, making them super flavourful. Ginger and coriander roots add that authentic Thai touch. Served with sliced button mushrooms and five easy-to-deshell prawns. No need for rice as this dish alone will fill you up.

Pretty well executed! A big, fresh fish, sliced and neatly laid on a fish-shaped pan with heat below. It’s then poured over with a savoury stock, further cooking the fish and infusing it with flavour. The addition of manao gives it a refreshing citrusy tang. The soup was rich, sweet, spicy, sourish, and umami, hitting that perfect Thai balance of flavours. The fish was soft, delicate, and fresh, we really enjoyed this one.

Not the best looking dish, but definitely the best tasting one! A classic must-order when in Thailand. Briny, chewy, chunky crab meat infused with aromatic, smooth, custardy eggy curry sauce. The more you eat, the more addictive it gets. The spiciness is toned down to suit local taste buds. A must-get, as this dish is quite rare in Singapore. Probably the only place that serves it, let me know if you find others!

Pretty good Thai cuisine, with flavours just like what you would get in Thailand. 😋

Dropped by the favourite coffee spot and it is always exciting to see how they have been offering some bakes that are not part of its usual line-up of the late. Skimmed through the menu and managed to find the Scallion & Cream Cheese Filled Donut during our more recent trips there — whilst Brawn & Brains Coffee had been serving up different variations of their donuts featuring quite a good selection of flavours, most of the flavours do seem to surround around more sweet and dessert-y flavour profiles. The offering of the Scallion & Cream Cheese Filled Donut pretty much stood out to us quite a fair bit as such; this being a savoury donut that is unlike the other flavours that they have been offering thus far.

The Scallion & Cream Cheese Filled Donut takes the form of a Bomboloni which is the Italian-style filled donut — very much the same as what one would expect out of their other variations of donuts here. With that being said, considering how the Scallion & Cream Cheese Filled Donut is a savoury item, the donut itself does come rolled in less sugar crystals and only on the underside. Digging into the donut, the donut comes well filled with cream cheese — the cream cheese carrying a smooth, luscious and creamy texture while not being too heavy with the slight tang and the hints of dairy. The addition of scallions provided an extra note of flavours — the fillings of the donut can be described to taste like something pretty similar to sour cream and onions; all that while the donut remains all fluffy and light. Not usually a fan of savoury donuts and we would probably still find ourselves craving for the Kaya-filled donut more the next time we are going for a donut here, though this version of a savoury donut still works out very well for those looking for savoury donuts out there.

I guess these are more tart than pie. Flavours are Earl Grey Rose, Matcha Latte, Nutella, Taro Mochi and Pandan Coconut. The last two were so interesting. I enjoyed this box.

I love pies. Other than chicken, the filling has carrot, mushrooms and potato. It's very good.

I love pies. This is interesting, featuring truffle-infused mash, portobello and hazelnuts. Confirm filling. Taste-wise I wasn't too impressed because it's very heavy.

($7) a lot of people said that its nt that nicer tbh bc of too much grainy texture in matcha. But I think that too much order for matcha last month at one go hence the manpower was not that there. I just felt that it's best for letting the hype die first before heading down for best experience. The staff recommended to order hubei instead of fukuoka because they went out of stock. tbh I just felt that it's strong bitter taste and quite balanced texture between matcha and milk.

Places specialising in "local farmers' produce-driven Singaporean cuisine" is certainly not a new concept, but Rustica manages to be one of the better ones I've had (in my books, at least!). The ambience of the cafe is bright and welcoming, and the service staff were so warm, friendly, and enthusiastic.

On to the food, we started off with the Crab Bergedil ($11) and Cereal Fish Bun ($12). The bergedil was fragrant and presentation was adorable, but we felt that there could be a stronger punchiness in taste, either from the crab meat or from the spices. A crispier exterior would also be good. On the other hand, the fish bun was excellent - loved the huge slab of crusty snapper fillet, which paired wonderfully with the herby tartar and soft bun

For the mains, we shared the Roasted Chicken Crown with White Pepper Sauce ($21), Golden Fish Broth ($25), and the Kailan with Fried Garlic ($14). LOVED all three dishes, and I think a recurring comment we had was the depth of flavour in every one of them. The roasted chicken had smokiness, traditional aromas of ginger and scallion, freshness from the crown daisy, and layered with the delicious white pepper sauce (couldn't stop slurping it up!). The fish broth was also thick, milky, gingery, flavourful, and overall warm and comforting. The kailan was also a surprise hit - the veges were crisp and fresh, and one can never go wrong with fried garlic. The table also gets a pot of Local Herb Rice which by itself is savoury (from the fried shallots) but went well with all the dishes.

Washed the fantastic meal down with the SG Lager Beer ($10/btl) and Vanilla Cold Brew ($9). Seriously well-executed dishes, and we enjoyed the unique renditions of local dishes. Definitely recommended for everyone!
