This Italian food stall interestingly gained really good ratings on Google, so decided to try it when I’m here for shows at Esplanade.
Open in the late evening till night, they offer pasta, salad and fried dishes.
I got their carbonara which is one of their signature items. It is a spaghetti with crispy turkey bacon and creamy white sauce. Topped with poached egg and grated parmesan.
It tastes very creamy but not too overwhelming.
risotto was cooked just nice, not too soft or too hard and sauce was quite nice as well. it had a good amount of spice while still retaining the sweetness of the tomato sauce. chicken was ok. portion didn’t seem big but it didn’t leave me feeling hungry so that’s good
unfortunately a lot of their better sounding menu choices are excluded from the burpple deal :( also there was only one person working at the time but the place was p empty so that’s fine. overall q affordable with burpple for a fairly decent and simple meal, wouldn’t mind coming again but maybe not my first choice 👍🏻👍🏻
The standard is pretty good for a hawker stall, as I enjoyed the creamy carbonara with the egg yolk on the top that’s adds a creamy mouthfeel, and the generous meat. The truffle fries were freshly fried and crispy when served, with a good amount of parmesan cheese and some truffle, worth the price for the huge portion.
Enjoy affordable and scrumptious pizza and pasta that will satisfy your cravings at Saporita, located in Makansutra Glutton Bay! This 100% Muslim-owned Italian gem is your passport to authentic Italian flavours right in the heart of Singapore’s hawker center heritage.
Drawn by the numerous tiktoks/ig on this Cheesewheel Pasta, we dropped by Saporita on a sweltering, busy, Saturday night. The outdoor foodcourt was packed with tourists and we felt out of place being there. This was the first time I've eaten here!
Now, on the the pasta. Creamy and suitable cheesy, there was a hint of truffle from the scoop of Truffle Pate they finished off the dish with. Overall, tasted pretty normal and thought there could have been a more robust flavour other than just cream and cheese. Worth a try if you pass by when it's less busy.
current go to here, i like how flavourful it is!! v affordable too
Another one of @saporitasg signatures is their Steak Tagliata ($18 nett). A thick sirloin steak is seared to your preferred doneness and served on a bed of arugula & cherry tomatoes, and that’s all she wrote. When you really deep it, it’s essentially a steak salad. Simple as it may be, it’s suitably savoury. The steak is seasoned well and perfumed with rosemary, giving it ample aroma & ambrosia.⠀
â €
Unfortunately, the steak was quite tough. I certainly wasn’t expecting USDA Prime grade beef for eighteen bucks at a hawker centre, but I certainly didn’t expect the steak to be quite as tough as it was. There are many methods to tenderise a steak, and I wish Saporita had tried at least one of those methods.⠀
â €
However, according to our lengthy chat with one of the stakeholders in the stall, the Steak Tagliata might not be on the menu for much longer. Apparently, it takes a long time to cook & serve the way Saporita does it, so it might get the can. Despite its flaws, the Steak Tagliata is still decent enough to satisfy any red meat cravings.
@saporitasg claim to fame is their signature Truffle Cheese wheel Pasta ($15 nett), and you’ve probably seen at least one article or tiktok about this pasta. A whole Grana Padano cheese wheel is imported all the way from Italy and hollowed out so the the pasta can be twirled around within to acquire extra cheesiness. After a quick spin in the colossal cheese wheel, the heap of pasta is drizzled with fragrant truffle oil.⠀
â €
Of course, there’s more to this pasta than it just being twirled in the cheese wheel & being lashed with truffle oil. The al dente fettuccine is tossed in a béchamel sauce before getting that iconic toss in the cheese wheel, and then the pasta gets returned to the frypan to let the béchamel, Grana Padano & fettuccine unite properly. As you might expect, it’s an incredibly cheesy & creamy experience, capped off by the charming chew of the fettuccine.⠀
â €
Unfortunately, there was one thing conspicuously absent from the pasta. Yup, there was absolutely no truffle scent. Despite @visualindulgence being very sure that he ordered the truffle one instead of the Fettucine Cheese-wheel ($14), we neither smelt nor tasted any truffle. Despite the missing truffle aroma, the Truffle Cheese-wheel Pasta was plenty palatable, and it’s definitely worth sampling.
I’ve always preferred pesto to tomato base sauces for pasta, and @saporitasg Penne Chicken Pesto ($14 nett) certainly is one of the more memorable pesto pastas out there. Sure, the price is a bit premium for a hawker centre, but I certainly didn’t mind the cost one bit.⠀
â €
Honestly, ordering the chicken-less penne pesto for ten bucks flat would’ve been a much better idea. Still, the pesto was excellent enough to elevate the otherwise distasteful chicken into a somewhat edible protein. The pesto was incredibly herby thanks to the overload of pesto ground up with pine nuts and top quality extra virgin olive oil. Saporita left their pesto a little chunkier than normal, making sure you know very well that lots of pine nuts went into the composition of this pesto. ⠀
â €
Most importantly, the pesto is very generously salted, resulting in an undisputedly umami & ambrosial sauce that turned the plate of al dente penne into Uptown Flavortown. Saporita’s pesto is the best-o, and I’ll say it with gusto.
When I was touring Italy, I fell in love with arancini at first bite. It was an ubiquitous street food, and could be found in every pizzeria and every other kebab shop. In Singapore, however, only restaurants serve arancini, taking it away from its hood roots. However, @saporitasg has brought it back to its original street food origins with their chicken arancini ($8 nett for 3 balls) in a hawker centre setting.
â €
The tomato ragu soaked rice encapsulates a core of chicken and mozzarella cheese, and these beautiful balls are coated in breadcrumbs and deep fried for that aesthetic golden brown finish. There isn’t much chicken inside the arancini, but there’s a megaton of sumptuous flavours in there. The fluffy rice is savoury & slightly tangy from absorbing the tomato ragu, and the mozzarella cheese is melted enough for some stretchy, sexy cheesy action. The exterior layer of breadcrumbs has just enough thickness to produce a pleasant crunch with every bite and hold the arancini together, and never came close to being too dense and bread-like.⠀
â €
In fact, these arancini were so ambrosial that even the birds around wanted them. Yep, we left the plate of arancini on the table and turned our backs for a couple of minutes, and turned back to realise that a bird had stolen an entire arancini. Cheeky bastard.
Visited @saporitasg situated at Makansutra Glutton Bay, the first 100% Muslim owned Italian restaurant bringing Authentically Italian Food to the Singapore's hawker heritage. Their menu come with dishes that rarely make it to hawker stalls such as Calzone, Arancini and Steak Tagliata. But the thing that stood out the most to me is the Grana Padano Cheese Wheel inside their counter, and no price for guessing it correct, that their speciality and most popular item will be the Truffle Cheesewheel Pasta.
What I tried,
Arancini.
Deep fried risotto balls coated with bread crumbs stuffed with tingling lava minced chicken and stretchy Mozzarella Cheese and served on a bed of rocket leaves with a side of pomodoro sauce. Resembling a croquette, each bite into this crispy balls of chicken and cheese, filled me with warmth!

What I tried,
Truffle Cheesewheel Pasta with Beef Meatball.
Fettuccine are first cook before being tossed in Italian Grana Padano cheesewheel, lastly cook in homemade truffled white sauce and drizzled with truffle oil to finish. The pasta is further topped with generous amount of shaved Grana Padano and Truffle Pate. This rich creamy robust al dente pasta is a must-try for all cheese lovers. I topped up with Beef Meatballs and I’m glad I did that. A bite into the meatballs provide some contrast in flavour and texture.
