My go-to Italian restaurant for affordable and good food! First time trying the Calzone Pizza here and it didn’t disappoint. The pizza crust was almost like a pastry crust, crispy and not dense. It was stuffed with lots of cheese, ham and mushrooms, which was creamy and flavourful, served with a portion of tomato sauce for you to dip the pizza in, that provided a tangy contrast to the pizza. Food came quickly and portion was huge as well!
The standard is pretty good for a hawker stall, as I enjoyed the creamy carbonara with the egg yolk on the top that’s adds a creamy mouthfeel, and the generous meat. The truffle fries were freshly fried and crispy when served, with a good amount of parmesan cheese and some truffle, worth the price for the huge portion.
My favourite pizza because I absolutely love anything with bacon and cheese! What’s even better was the white cream sauce they use instead of tomato sauce as the base sauce for the pizza, which gave the pizza the creamy and cheesy boost on top of the cheese toppings and made the whole pizza so flavourful with the bacon and the chewy pizza crust.
Super flavourful pizza with generous toppings of pork sausages and lots of cheese on a tomato base pizza. The eggs also added creaminess to each bite as it was partially cooked and still flowy, acting like a creamy sauce and more flavour to the pizza. The pizza crust was chewy too and went really well with the combination of toppings.
Linguine was al dente, with a thick creamy tomato based crab sauce that coated the pasta entirely. Would have preferred other pastas to this as this was slightly one-dimensional, and had a strong seafood flavour to it, which might not be enjoyed by all. Otherwise, I enjoyed the texture of the pasta and the creamy thick sauce with the crab meat pieces.
Worth it with burpple beyond! Salmon pieces were generous, topped with onions and white cream sauce on a chewy pizza crust. The smoked salmon pieces were quite salty which added flavour to the dish. Pizzas here were generally good but good to share!
Good for sharing! The large pieces of tortellini were stuffed with ricotta and just a little spinach and served in rose sauce with some basil pesto. The burst of flavours and textures in my mouth when I ate this dish was amazing, as there were so many different aspects to enjoy, like the slight cheesy note from the ricotta, the texture of the cheese wrapped in the chewy tortellini, the sour yet creamy rose sauce and the flavorful basil pesto.
I am usually not a huge fan of gnocchi as some places have it too starchy, however this gnocchi was a good bite size and was not too starchy or jelak. Though still recommended to share, as the bacon cream sauce was sinfully savory and creamy, which might get jelak for some. The sauce went really well with the chewy mochi with good texture. There were crispy bits of bacon in the dish to give a good crunchy bite with some cherry tomatoes that were fried in the sauce too. The tomatoes were a little sour and I thought I would have preferred the dish without the tomatoes. But overall I really enjoyed the chewy gnocchi in the creamy savory cream sauce.
This pizza was topped with tomato sauce, pork salami and loads of cheese. The pizza was overall a little too oily, but was super flavorful with the creamy cheesy cheese and the savory salami pieces, accompanied with the slightly sour yet sweet tomato sauce. The pizza crust was chewy at corners but the thin base was soft and complemented the pizza toppings.
Gnocchi was chewy and texture was good, not too starchy or jelak. Cheese sauce was also very delicious, savory and creamy and cheesy, and went really well with the gnocchi. There were some spinach in the dish but no meat, would have wanted some ingredients for more complexity, but the cheese sauce was really delicious and of good quality! The restaurant had a cozy vibe to eat and served amazing food overall, would definitely return with burpple beyond as it was worth it.
I really enjoyed the pizza that came with 3 kinds of pork, minced pork, sausage and salami, along with tomato sauce and cheese. The toppings were generous and evenly coated the whole pizza, giving the pizza enough flavor and complexity of having the different pork toppings. It was cheesy enough and had enough tomato sauce, while the crust was slightly chewy and had amazing texture and charred flavor as the pizza is brick-fired! You can even see the brick oven they have at the restaurant. For the risotto, it was tomato-sauce based and quite creamy and strong in tomato flavor. The texture of the risotto was consistent and was good as it wasn’t too hard or too soggy. It came with seafood like tiger prawns and scallop which were fresh and tasty.
So beautiful and so delicious! As this was my first time trying Calzone, I was really impressed with this dish. The crust at the corners were crispy and not too hard with good texture, while the other parts of the crust were thinner and crunchy, holding the bacon, onion and mozzarella cheese in the centre of the pizza. The fillings were generous and so creamy, savory from the bacon and fragrant from the onion, while being cheesy. I really enjoyed it with a little tomato sauce, that was generously served on top of the calzone. The combination of textures and flavors in this calzone was a unique experience that you cannot get in regular pizzas. Super worth with burpple beyond and would definitely return.
