We ordered various Umi Sushi bentos and they are all pretty good and nicely presented.
Shared the Hoki Fish and fries ($16.80 + $3) with my partner and both of us were really wowed by it! Think not one, but two thick breaded fish fillets which was flakey and delicious, made even moreso with the fresh crunchy cabbage and an addictive tartar sauce. Highly recommend and we think it is worth the price. Although, the quality and quantity of the fries was slight regrettable for the price, so would not recommend adding it on. They have an extensive selection of sandos so we're excited to return whenever we're in the area!
Dropped by the newly-opened Kyuukei Coffee recently. The cosy interior was tastefully furnished and they even have their own line of merchandise.
Both the ๐๐น๐ฎ๐ ๐ช๐ต๐ถ๐๐ฒ ($5.00) and ๐๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐๐น๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ ($5.00) were medium-bodied and tasted pretty good. The ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ ๐ง๐ผ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ผ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ ($4.00) really impressed as its fragrance and crispness complemented the sweet, tangy profile perfectly.
Definitely a spot Iโd return to!
Tasty and with the money
($16) My friend she didn't wanted to order this but she initally wanted to try tonkatsu one and I literally wanted to try it out too. So she decided to try this and we just spilt and shared instead. So the steak was well cooked but the overeasy egg is not runny at all :") but the sauce really nice to eat thru. I thought tonkatsu was really best selling on their menu but this steak & eggs was not bad tbh.
($15) I didn't really regretted to travel over from north east to south west for this. My friend just judged me so sliently most of time for this but I don't really care or bother abt it. But their sando was not that bad tbh was so worth to travel for trying once a while if you're bored with other brands out there also selling sando as their bread was not that dry as I expected and pork (tonkatsu) and napa cabbage was quite crispy and crunchy to chew through. The aonori mayo sauce was slightly too creamy for me and not much tbh.
($12) The batter was slightly too much and was quite crispy and crunchy to chew through. The sauce (used same as tonkatsu) complemented well with mushroom fritter too. It's slightly oil so it was good to share with family and friends.
4โญ Found that there's a Sando shop near office and this is the 2nd time here. Ordered the Charsu sando this round without adding on the waffle fries. Love the pork brlly, it's so tender and juicy. Portion is very filling.

Besides fresh and good quality sashimi, Kumo also serves a wide range of other dishes such as sushi, yakimono and agemono.
I will highly recommend their agemono tempura which are all freshly fried to order. The ebi tempura were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I also enjoyed their nikujiga and beef shogayaki which were flavourful and delicious. The bacon sausage skewers were also a particular favourite.
The only complaint is that their orders are for relatively small portions so we quickly learnt to order larger quantities. But even our orders somehow went missing. But it's hard to complain considering how fast they were in churning out our orders.
Last but not least, they also provide free parking coupons for all diners which is a really nice touch!
Kumo also serves several "one order" items as part of their alacarte Japanese buffet.
One such special item is the grilled salmon fish head. Being pnigophobic, I am usually a little wary about fish heads which can be rather tedious and annoying. Those in the know though will definitely enjoy the tender, rich and oily fish collar and cheek.
Besides the Ala Carte Buffet, Kumo also has daily lunch donburis which are reasonably priced. I will be back to check their lunch specials some day!
When I was young, visiting buffets was always one of my favourite treats. It was an opportunity to stuff myself silly without worrying about how much more I have to pay.
As the years go by, visits to the buffet line become a rarity with increased scrutiny on how the waistline seem to increase and never decrease.
I was therefore greatly excited when the boys decided to check out a Japanese buffet. I must admit that I was also really surprised that even the cheapest buffets these days come up to nearly $50 when we used to find the $30 Japanese buffet at ikoi really pricey.
That said, I was really surprised by the quality of Kumo's Ala Carte Japanese buffet. The key to a good Japanese buffet is the sashimi selection and Kumo definitely did not disappoint. You have the usual suspects and more such as salmon (sake), maguro (tuna), amberjack (hamachi), mekajiki (swordfish), ika (squid), tako (octopus) and tai (sea bream), all of which were fresh and of good quality. In particular, I really enjoyed the gently sweet flavoured and rich meaty texture of the mekajiki.
Yes, there's no otoro or even chutoro but you really complain at this price tag and tbh the quality was really good!
