What a surprise to be able to find an indoor eatery selling
Korean food is my comfort food!
Was recommended by a friend to check out this place: Hyang-to-gol Korean Restaurant at Raffles City basement!
Food items we got:
-Marinated BBQ Pork Set ($15.50++)
-Skewer Fishcake Odeng Soup ($14++)
-Soybean Paste Stew with Seafood ($18.50++)
-Seafood Pancake ($20++)
The food were all served piping hot! The seafood pancake had clams and prawns in it! Was pleasantly surprised by the presence of clams, as typically korean restaurant use prawns with squid insted? The soybean paste stew was actually quite spicy, though it was not mentioned in the description that it will be spicy (there is another soup option that is spicy beancurd soup with seafood for $18++). BBQ meat portions were huge, however I would have preferred if they have spicy bbq pork option too!

kimchi, seaweed soup served once seated
free flow rice, kimchi, seaweed soup
this is my new favorite eatery and I hope to see more outlets soon
consisted of original and kimchi flavour. A lot of people ordered this with cold noodle. It's one of their best selling side dish. The dumpling skin is not that thick and just nice texture. I prefer kimchi flavour over original one.
I felt that their cold noodle was quite great and refreshing taste tbh. Even it's mild spicy taste but I really wanted to come back for their cold noodle instead. The staff told us that soup version was more spicy taste than dry version.
I did enjoy their Jiajangmyeon for first time. Their black bean sauce is not that thick texture tbh and also their noodle was quite nice to eat thru. We didn't managed to eat finish thru.
Noodle Star K (Funan)
consisted free flow banchan and also beef broth drink (which I felt that it's quite weird tbh)
Three Star ($73.40)
Sweet & Sour Pork
with sweet and spicy sauce. I felt that their pork texture was tough and hard to chew. But it got crispy and crunchy texture.
Personally did not enjoy the meal I had here. The Chicken Cutlet Bibimbap ($6.80) had dry and almost-tasteless chicken chunks besides bland boiled cabbages. Adding the bibimbap sauce on the side did little to add to the enjoyment of the meal. The Hotplate BBQ Pork ($10.80) was marginally better, but while the pork came in a big portion, they were slick in oil which made it pretty bleh to eat after awhile. The free flow portions of rice, kimchi, and soup did little to appease our mouths. Don't think we'll return.
I love how much variety they have for type of noodles, my fav is arrowroot noodles . And those dumplings are very good 🤤

If you are looking for an affordable option in town with pretty decent food, this is one place to go! @minchengbibimbap just opened an outlet in Funan Mall offering Korean Chinese fare.
We had the Cheese Beef Bibimbap ($9.80), which was just satisfying. Mixing in the generous amount of cheese with the Bibimbap sauce at the side, each bite of the mixed rice provides a comforting familiar flavour with some richness from the cheese. Due to the stone pot, the bottom rice gets charred abit and the charred rice was quite satisfying to chew!
The Angus Marbled Beef ($12.80) was also a delicious bowl, as the beef was tender and braised in a comforting sweet savoury sauce. It also comes with Enoki mushroom and chewy glass noodles!
As for sides, the Hot Plate Squid ($11.80) is a good choice if you like savoury flavours, as it reminds me of a good Chinese BBQ with its cumin flavours. The squid itself is also tender!
Unfortunately, the Braised Pork Bibimbap ($6.80) was not to our liking. The five spice flavour was too strong and it was too bland.
All dishes come with free flow kimchi, soup and rice. Most of the dishes were still hits for us. Decent and affordable fare! Thank you @minchengbibimbap for inviting us!
Went with a friend who doesn't eat beef so couldn't try the famed cold noodles. Settled for the Soft Tofu Seafood Soup ($16.80) and Rice Cakes ($12). Sundubu was...bad. Watery and bland, with just one mussel, two prawns, and a handful of clams. Think even the Korean store in the nearby foodcourt sold better Sundubu. As for the Tteokbokki, can't say much about it as I don't eat it much, but thought it was alright. The banchan given were just kimchi, beansprouts, pickled radish, and a sauce that I assume is for the mandu or pancake. Kimchi wasn't sour and spicy enough to my liking.
Overall, glad I came early - about 6.30pm - and only waited about 5min for a table. Perhaps if i return I'll try the cold noodles and mandus.
EDIT:
Returned again to try the noodles this time. Got the Mul Naengmyeon ($16.80) and the Jjajangmyeon ($13.80). Noodles were sooo chewy and pretty nice. I especially loved the jjajangmyeon sauce which was delicious and had chunky bits of meat and vegetables within. The cold noodles was interesting, a little citrusy but really refreshing.
