Peranakan Buffet at Sun's Cafe!

First time here! First impression is that the buffet line is not extensive.

My favourite item at this buffet was the Yam Rice, which comes with yam, mushrooms, sausages and some meat.

The have live cooking noodle stations - Mee Rubus and Nyonya Lemak Laksa. However, both were not to my liking.

For soup, there is cream of mushroom soup or pig stomach soup.

The exciting part of this buffet is you can make your own rojak here! (Tip: Go to the dessert station and get the pineapple cubes from the fruit table to add it into the rojak! Hehe, I did this, because I didn't really eat the other fruits at the rojak stations - apple, mango, starfruit, cucumber and pear.

While I am usually a HUGE fan of kueh pie tee here.. I ate one of their kueh piee tee and just stopped there. The cooked vegetable fillings had a funny taste to me.

You can also DIY your own ice kachang or iced chendol here, but taste wise, not fantastic

Overall quite an average buffet. However, there is an ongoing 1 for 1 promo now (original price is $60++ per pax for fri-sun lunch/dinner) if anyone wants to try it out for yourself.

went there on a tuesday afternoon, 2 pax, both students. showed them the page of the burpple 141 all day buffet before entering and the cashier said can use on that day. after finishing the meal, they charged me wknd adult prices for the 141! even though we were both students, and we went on a weekday lunch … charged me 30.80 for 2 pax when if without the deal, i would have paid 35.40 for 2 pax student lunch anyways. absolute clickbait when didnt even specify in t&cs of the deal itself, only told us after we finished the meal. dont ever go there what a misleading advertisement to attract customers.

[Dinner buffet $19.90 + cheese ring $9.90 before GST]

Pretty unique buffet with lots of variety like the tteokbokki, deep fried dishes and fish cake stewer. Ordered the classic soup which is sweet, flavourful and not spicy. The cheese ring contains sweet corn which I think should be left out, haha. Finishing the hotpot, there is an option to fry the rice with the left over soup base but I think the fried rice was a meh.

Didn't had to use burpple as there were many 1f1 offer using credit card. Food tasted great, esp prawn, oyster, kuehs and Kueh pie ties. Laska was too thick for my liking. Only one main buffet line with a few side stations so the selection is limited for the price. Went on weekend lunch ($60), total bill came up to $71 for two pax

i ordered the royale wagyu beef burger and while the wait for our food was quite long, the portion was really generous! i loved the bun, and the patty was thicc. not a bad deal in my opinion, will come back to try the pastas on the menu!

1-for-1 Royale Tea Time ($42++/pax) with burpple beyond or uob cardholders. remember to book a reservation for the afternoon tea (by calling their number!) afternoon tea is strictly by reservations and they do not accept walk in!!! we did not have a reservation but was lucky enough that someone cancelled so we could get a table. paid $42++ for 2 pax using burpple including 2 (different) drinks per person! overall, food is okay for the price paid but won’t recommend it if it’s full price :( nothing stood out to us and most of them are mediocre. preferred the savoury food compared to sweet (all the desserts were too sweet for us) but shout out to tiramisu!!! strong coffee flavour and cream was quite light as well :) we recommend to get the twg teas to go with the sweet desserts!

We ate there a few times during the 1-1 period before it changes to 30%.

We did not make reservations but the guy was ok for us to wait indoors.

Service was fast even tho you can see there are short staffed. The young guy (owner) was funny and friendly. He was at our table making conversations, telling us jokes and pouring us drinks. Constantly refilling our cups when it’s empty.

Tissues were provided on every table. And the counter was manned by the staff since we can’t take the food ourselves yet. Sometimes, waiting for a few minutes for the staff to help you take food won’t kill you because they are short staffed.

Food were constant refilled too. I like how they have different varieties of tteok. The tteok were nice and chewy. For the price paid during the 1-1 they even include some seafood and different type of meats + fried side dishes and unlimited fish cakes and ramen noodles. Of course it is common sense to take only what you can eat and not waste food. You don’t need people to remind you of this simple thing 🙃

Lastly, don’t eat too full. Because there’s still the fried rice made from the leftover soup and ingredients you have from your hotpot.

2nd time back - this time for the 1 for 1 mains. Didnt see many reviews on this so gave it a shot as the high tea was good. We ordered the fish and chips and pork ribs. Fish was ok, nothing very special but the ribs were quite tough. Overall would give it a 2/5 but the ambience there is great and so is the staff service, so 3/5. Will still return for the high tea set!

Super worth it with Burpple ($42++)! Set can be shared but take note that an ala carte drink has to be ordered for each additional person. Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and would definitely return for the burpple deal.

Server was very welcoming and walked us through the items in the set. For the refill, customers can order a different drink to try - however apparently drinks are not supposed to be shared (only food). For the drinks, would recommend the grapefruit pomelo and winter melon!
