Grew up pestering my parents for this every other week. Cost might have increased and taste might have changed but this was still comfort soup for the soul. This was the medium bowl for $10.30 - prawns were fresh, minced meat still had that unique bite, and they are still so stingy with their rich broth. Love it!
The chicken from Arabica Kebab at Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre offers great value at $12 for a half portion of spring chicken, served over flavourful basamic rice.
It's both enjoyable and satisfying, making it a worthwhile dining option.
Iced chendol to complete the meal.
Newer stall than the rest. Good seafood flavour, but the puffed rice was useless. Very generous ingredients. The fish paste surprised me because it's my first time seeing it.
One of the OG claypot prawn stores, tucked away in a quiet industrial estate near Republic Poly. Dropped by on a Tue night and there were just a few tables filled, mostly having the prawn claypot. The base claypot costs $32.80 and comes with 12 big prawns. Though the broth wasn't as rich as Hae!'s, I think it is the more balanced out of the two and would not result in the 'jelak' feeling even towards the end of the meal. We also opted for a few other side dishes to add to the claypot - wouldn't say that the price is cheap, but overall the meal was still affordable considering you get free flow of various dipping sauces, unlimited refills of the soup, and even plastic gloves. Also, the toilet was surprisingly decent. Parking is also free!
The bkt is ofc as good as ever
Can't rmb if I've reviewed their pigtail before, but it's reasonably tender. They cook it to the same texture as the pig trotters, not the melt in your mouth kind but more than tender enough. On the plain side tho, as the pork ribs tend to be as well
It's almost funny how close the flavour is to the canned versions. However given it's freshly cooked the texture is better
Having it again, I'd say the texture is still good for what it is, but I don't think the flavour is so impressive. Is their slightly herbal sauce, only drizzled over so it's abit mild
This was pretty good. A sweet style braise which wasnt too sweet at all, with minor herbal notes like their soup, which is different from the ubiquitous herbal style that has a strong sweet aftertaste. On top of that, there's a bit of heat
Quite tender too
Good ver
Ayam masak merah, sayur lodeh, kangkong. I had a craving for nasi padang. It's not the best but it did the job.
We highly recommend getting your greens intake with their 𝗪𝗮 𝗪𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗶 ($𝟮.𝟴𝟬) and 𝗫𝗶𝗮𝗼 𝗕𝗮𝗶 𝗖𝗮𝗶 ($𝟮.𝟴𝟬). Fresh and cleanly prepared, the vegetables were the stars at absorbing the essence of the broth. You can round up your meal with instant noodles, vermicelli, or rice because it only gets better with carbs hehe. There was also a plethora of sauces to choose from, with their homemade chilli sauce standing out for us!
We are sure you’ve seen the VIRAL claypot prawns hotpot going around on social media, and we just had to give it a try at @woodlandsclaypotprawn 🤩🤩
.
The 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗵 ($𝟯𝟮.𝟴𝟬) gets you 12 plump and juicy fresh prawns along with a flavourful and peppery broth. You can spruce up your meal with a plethora of classic hotpot side dishes too!
.
We couldn’t pass on their 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗯𝘂 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝗸 ($𝟴.𝟴𝟬), 𝗛𝗼𝗸𝗸𝗮𝗶𝗱𝗼 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗽𝘀 ($𝟭𝟬.𝟴𝟬) and 𝗘𝗻𝗼𝗸𝗶 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀 ($𝟮.𝟴𝟬). If you’re here with a group, you can top up with 5 𝗧𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻𝘀 ($𝟭𝟬.𝟴𝟬).
Can't manage a whole pot of stuff? Just get their Hokkien Mee ($8.80). Confirm plus chop, you will not be disappointed if you like wet-style Hokkien mee. The Hokkien mee is full of wok hei, comes with three fat and juicy prawns, an abundance of fatty pork, chewy sotong, crispy pork lard, and a raw egg for moonlight effect. The chilli provided is damn shiok, hot, and spicy enough to evoke your senses without making you sweat. The slurpy noodles are handled properly, leaving little trace of alkaline taste, and they really absorb the stock well.
