($8.50) HMMM THE SIZE WAS QUITE SMALL BUT I SAW PEOPLE ORDER THIS AND QUITE BIGGER THAN ME ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿคฏ. BUT THEY GIVE ME TWO PIECES INSTEAD OF ONE ??? But then the taste for fish was quite weird tbh. I felt that their standard dropped a lot since I went there last 2 year ?

If there's one place I would travel to satisfy my cravings for old-school Western food, it would be Rasa Sayang Western Food! The lunch crowd here would usually go for their thicc & crispy Chicken Cutlet or the also generously portioned Chicken Chop. But I'd always gravitate towards the latter for the mushroom sauce. It's well-balanced, not overly salty and has a subtle hint of sweetness that goes well with the tender chicken chop. The meat portions were definitely not as huge as they used to be before, but still bang for your buck given that it's also adorned with a selection of 4 sides like garlic bread and fries. While the crinkle-cut fries were average and didn't impress, the garlic bread was crumbly & buttery enough to mop up the rest of the sauce!

Visited Rasa Sayang Western Food to try their CHICKEN CHOP after watching @eatbook 's youtube video on chicken chops in Singapore!

Ordered two sets of chicken chop ($7.50) for both of us. While the price was pretty steep for a coffee shop meal, the price was still ok if you compare to other western meals.

However, the chicken chop was not as MIND BLOWING as we expected it to be. To us, the food was pretty average? My main gripe was that the food was served lukewarm?? Even though we had to wait for the food to be served with a buzzer, the food was somehow not hot? Even the grilled chicken chop (understandable for the sides which will be pre-prepared for all the mains)

The sides here are fixed - garlic bread, coleslaw, baked beans, French fries. For those who do not eat coleslaw etc like me, you can make a special request to change it to more fries.

As for the creamy mushroom sauce that online reviews raved about, it was not WOW to us. The sauce tasted more like tomatish sauce to us, though we liked the addition of mushrooms to it.

The chicken chop itself was nicely grilled and juicy. Just that I felt that it lacked in marination.

Will I eat it again? Sure, if I am in the area. But I will not purposely travel all the way to Ang Mo Kio just to eat it.

whoever lived in AMK will know this place.
chicken chop and chicken cutlet and most importantly the garlic bread all don't taste like before but portion and price considered reasonable for a neighborhood kopitiam stall.

Though the portion of the chicken might not have been as big as back in those days, the Chicken Chop (S$6.50) here was still prepared in the very old-school format, where every plate still came with baked beans, coleslaw, fries and a slice of baguette.

And not forgetting to specially mention the middle-aged crew here who had served in the previous Ang Mo Kio S11 stall and were still fighting strong now. But I would also wonder if they would hand over to a new generation of hawkers next timeโ€ฆ

Pork Chop ($7)
Chicken Chop ($6.50)
the sauce complemented well with chicken but it's a bit char at the corner for chicken. still same standard along the year.

Fish & Chips ($6.50)

i never choose fish & chips for top choice for western food bc of fish. depends on my mood also. their fish and tartar sauce is same standard along the year.

Pork chop @ $8

The last time we came to try this, the whole coffee shop was under reno and we're so glad to be able to try it this time. The pork was tender and the sauce was super impressive! It was very tasty but not too heavy and I'll keep having the meat with the sauce. The sides were good too and we like this old school style of western food.

We noticed 70% of the people at the coffee shop buying from this stall and many were old people. I guess this says a lot about this stall and the quality of food ๐Ÿ‘

We also had the The gigantic slab of chicken was deep fried to perfection and wasn't too dry as its natural juices greased my teeth as I bit it. The more I chomped on the crunchy chicken, the more I wanted to devour it instantly. The spaghetti, cooked al dente, tasted great as well. The tomato-based sauce complemented it nicely and made this a really fulfilling meal.ย

After so many years, the food at Rasa Sayang still tastes amazing, and the portions remain very big. It's a must-visit for fans of old school western food.ย

Back in the day, Rasa Sayang Western Food was THE place to go for affordable and delicious western food in big portions if you stay around Ang Mo Kio. Situated in the S11 food court next to Jubilee Square in Ang Mo Kio Central, it is often the stall with the longest waiting time during peak lunch and dinner hours. Until recently, I had no idea the current tenant of that S11 stall is no longer Rasa Sayang, who had relocated to a kopi tiam right across the road from AMK Hub.ย

As with most western food stalls, one of its most popular items is the ๐—–๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ป ๐—–๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ฝ ($6.50). Do not be fooled by its small surface area, for its thickness was easily double that of chicken chops found at other stalls. The succulent chicken was drenched in a delicious mushroom sauce, topped with thinly-sliced mushrooms. It's old school, so you don't get to choose the sides. Coleslaw, baked beans, French fries and a slice of garlic bread were the standard sides. While the sides didn't really impress, we liked the garlic bread'sย crispiness.

Chicken was grilled nicely, juicy with charred bits. Coleslaw taste is just right and overall portion is good.

A very popular western food stall in Ang Mo Kio that closed earlier has reopened at this new place, manage by the same people as well.

Their former stall was taken over by new people and seems lots of bad reviews about it. So now is good to hear that they finally come back to offer their signature western food again.

Their chicken chop definitely a big portion, soft and juicy. Comes together with bean, coleslaw, fries and garlic bread. $7

Lost and found. They were the super popular stall beside Jubilee Square. But the meat was bad. It may look good but its texture got problem and no natural flavour. Fries decent though?

Lost and found. They were the super popular stall beside Jubilee Square. Old-school hawker Western that serves tartar/mayo, garlic bread and baked beans. The cutlet isn't as large as I remember, but still very good, being moist inside and crispy outside.

Lost and found. They were the super popular stall beside Jubilee Square. These were normal.

I've been wanting to visit this western food stall again now that they've re-opened at this current location. They were located at the S-11 coffeeshop nearby previously! Anyway back to the food; their chicken cutlet is yummy! It is the old school style that I like, and itโ€™s well-fried, not too oily and tender! Plus, the portion is really generous too, as you can see from my pic! All their mains come with standard sides (fries, coleslaw, garlic bread & baked beans). My friend had their chicken chop ($6.50) and said it was yummy too!

Besides the chicken chop, Rasa Sayang also serves an excellent fish & chip as well. The crispy batter encases a tender, well marinated and marinate fish fillet.

Can't decide what to have? Why not just have both!

Growing up, weekend evenings were often spent in a S-11 kopitiam in Ang Mo Kio Central, watching live EPl action and enjoying a plate of Rasa Sayang's chicken chop. I was therefore very disappointed when they closed their business a few years ago.

It should therefore be no surprise that I made an immediate beeline for a coffeeshop across the road from AMK Hub where Rasa Sayang has re-opened to little fanfare.

I love that their chicken chop is always consistently well-executed. The meat is thick and juicy and grilled to perfection with a nice char. The mushroom sauce is also well balanced - subtly sweet and savoury.

Needless to say, I have been back nearly every week!

It's a decent chicken chop, thick and tender chicken chop, served with mushroom sauce.
The side dishes are average.
