[BISHAN, SINGAPORE] A halal cafe that opens till the wee hours, @goodbitessg is a place you can consider for your family or friends gatherings. With a relatively large menu, we tried a couple of dishes and these are what we liked:
Baked Salmon 🐟($19.90) - for the salmon lovers, this is a good order! The salmon itself was soft, fatty and yet not overcooked. The mashed potato was smooth and well seasoned, but can get abit salty towards the end.
Seafood Salted Egg Pasta 🍝 ($16.50) - the salted egg flavour may not be very strong, but it isn't too surfeiting as well. Pasta was al dente, seafood was relatively fresh!
Seafood Chilli Crab Pasta 🍝 ($16.50) - for the spicy lovers, this is for you. We asked them to lower the spice but it's still very fiery 🔥 the sweet chilli sauce is addictive, but I had to take big gulps of water 😸
Molten Lava Chocolate Cake 🍫 ($12.90) - to cool off the spice, this will be your go-to. The chocolate lava cake was indeed very molten, and pairs well with the vanilla ice cream given!
Premium Iced Tea🍹($9.90) - these were very decent, with good aromatic flavour without being too sweet.
A cafe option to consider if you are in the vicinity 😆 thank you @goodbitessg for the invite and @eatwithkeat for joining me in this feast 😁
Economy rice stall by day, kway chap stall by night; this stall's claim to fame isn't just that it opens for dinner and supper till the wee hours of morning.
.
Their soy braised pig offals are clean-tasting, with a good variety of cuts, all at affordable prices.
.
The wide flat kway teow / rice noodles is served in a light soy and herb broth, the slippery smooth sheets picking up the salty sweet flavour well.
.
It's easy to pick and choose the sides, with crunchy preserved mustard greens with vegetal sour salty sweet flavour, spongy dried tofu puffs with salty savoury herbal earthy flavour, and bouncy soy braised chicken egg with eggy salty sweet notes.
.
For pig offals, the tender large intestines have salty savoury herbal earthy flavour, the gelatinous braised pig's skin carries fatty salty savoury herbal flavour, and the tender braised pork belly has meaty salty savoury herbal flavour.

Had a wonderful time trying out some of the new and popular dishes at Good Bites @goodbitessg and really liked many of them 😍 Here are my favourites:
Prawn Pesto Pasta - if you love your pesto, this rendition is a good one. The taste of basil is strong yet not overpowering, and it was greatly enhanced by the umami coming from the sauteed garlic and onions. Pasta was al dente, prawns were plump and snappy. I thoroughly enjoyed this!
Beef Lasagna - been some time since I've had lasagna, and this reminded me how much I've missed it. It was very cheesy, stuffed full of minced meat and the pasta was also still rather al dente! The tomato sauce had the right balance between sweet and savoury too. However it can get quite rich, so best to share.
Strawberry Osmanthus Earl Grey Tea - this is one good refreshing choice. All flavours within the tea complemented each other well, and loved the whipped cream on top! This is no canned whipped cream; I could tell that it's made in house using fresh cream and it's a good contrast to the refreshing tea below.
With quite a few tables, this is one place to gather with your friends for meals! It's halal certified too 😍 Thank you @eatwithkeat for inviting and @goodbitessg for the food! Had such a lovely time 😁
If you ask those who stay around Bishan for where to grab supper at night, this place is definitely on the list.
This kway chap stall only open at night until pass midnight. Making it one of the popular dinner and supper place in Bishan.
Also what interesting about this stall is that they sell all the ingredients separately, so you need to choose what part of the meat that you want to get.
To get a mixed of everything would probably cost a lot, with pretty big portion for one person. So it is best to come with group of people if you get everything in one plate.
All the meat parts are braised nicely without any compromise of smell.
Honestly, this had everything we would want in a party. With spicy mid-wings, calamari, and sweet potato fries, this is perfect for sharing and as an appetiser.
It is difficult to describe their waffles. Good in a unique way, it was denser than a dessert waffle but the batter they used was superb. While the fried chicken was slightly dry, it was very flavourful and this dish turned out to be a crowd favourite!
We would definitely reorder this dish. With a generous slab of baked and seared salmon, served with vegetables, mashed potatoes, and a herb cream sauce, this was really filling and delicious. Unlike other places where the portion of salmon is miserable and thin, this dish is super worth it.
We liked their 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿-𝘁𝗵𝗲-𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 (Cookie Top & Chocolove) that come with a gigantic scoop of ice cream. These iconic drinks are also available at Galangal and Citrus by the Pool
We had a sweet ending to our meal with their homemade 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝘃𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗸𝗲 ($𝟭𝟯). The luxurious chocolate lava was not too sweet and paired nicely with the vanilla ice cream
The 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗼𝗼𝘀 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗹𝗲 ($𝟭𝟬) combines caramelly lotus-biscuit goodness with a buttery croffle.
We were really excited for this because we love the idea of eggs in our burgers, however, the egg here was fried wayyyy to overdone and the bottom layer was hard. The chicken was also over cooked and dry.
Pasta noodles were cooked al dente, immaculate plating of the seafood and the sauce was on the sweeter side
