Mee Sua Soup still very good.
But no more back alley seats liao. Now only can sit inside the coffee shop, which have limited tables.
The Soup is those thick type, like the soup you have at chinese wedding dinners. The mee sua Soup is also eaten the same way, with pepper and vinegar.
The prawn paste Chicken was alsi good. Crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside.
Chaota bee hoon standard feels like drop a bit la, but still 1 of the better chaota bee hoon out there. Used to be damn awesome.
Amongst the few places in Singapore offering this famous JB dish Chao Ta Bee Hoon (San Lou Bee Hoon), my preference is Yong Kee. It is always done to perfection, crispy on the outside, with soft bee Hoon hidden underneath together with seafood and lots of sinful lard bits. Perhaps flavour wise, there are other better ones but none can claim the consistency of quality like Yong Kee.
Located in a Kopitiam with limited tables, so come early during meal hours.
Yong Kee Seafood is a Zhi Char establishment that opens from 5.45pm till late(2.45am, according to google).
They serve some damn good zhi char and their speciality here is their Mee Sua Gor & Chaota Bee Hoon.
There are tables available indoors in the coffee shop, but opted to sit outside and enjoy the free outdoor music atmosphere from next door
1) Mee Sua Gor: Basically Mee Sua in Thick Soup. Surprisingly flavourful. Goes very well with pepper and vinegar, eating it machiam like shark fin soup.
2) Chaota Bee Hoon: Damn Crispy & Good, may look plain on the surface, but all their prawns and other ingredients are hidden beneath this layer of ultra fried Bee hoon.
3) Dried Fried Minced Pork with Prawns in Tofu Skin: this is also very good, flavourful and this plate is the first to be cleared.
4) Hot Plate Tofu: the sauce was thick and flavourful, egg was still runny.
Yes, most people came here for this; the popular chao ta beehoon. It could be very oily but super addictive with the beehoon.
Another signature item on the menu, so you couldn’t go wrong getting any of it; especially when you can’t decide what to get.
The beancurd was so fluffy and soft, topped with different seafoods like sliced fish, shrimp and cuttlefish.
A popular tze char place at Jalan Besar, they are situated inside Shing Boon Hwa Food Centre.
Well know for their chao ta beehoon, they also have a few signature dishes that you can find on their menu.
This is one of them, super tasty with the baby vegetable and they added lots of dried shrimp on it. So it added crispy bites as you eating the vegetables.
