Shinjitsu Ramen, located in a kopi tiam in a (somewhat) inaccessible part of Ang Mo Kio, has been in the news recently for its $5.90 ramen that comes with one whole chicken leg. However the ๐ง๐ผ๐ป๐ธ๐ผ๐๐๐ ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ($10.90) caught my attention instead.
Consisting of 4 slices of chashu, black fungus, one large piece of seaweed and one ajitama, it was indeed sumptuous. A similar bowl at a typical ramen joint would cost at least $18 before taxes.
The tonkotsu broth was rich and flavourful, and it certainly heightened my expectations. The noodles had a nice, firm texture while the black fungus, usually served as tiny pieces at ramen joints, came in one big piece here, so I was pleasantly surprised.
The chashu could've been more tender and the egg yolk more molten, but at this price point, you can hardly find a better bowl of ramen.

Hawker ramen stall is on the rise and you could easily found them at many coffee shops now.
Shinjitsu Ramen is one of them and also been expanding their outlets to a few places.
Order their special tonkotsu which comes with 4 slices of chashu, a piece of nori and ajitama egg.
Unfortunately the broth tasted a bit sticky to me, and wasnโt warm enough when it was served. The chashu was a bit too dry as well.
Clear Chicken Broth Ramen which came with a large drumstick!

Just next to a corner of Bishan Park is this Ramen place that has this tender and fragrant aburi chicken ramen going for $5.90.
What an absolute steal given how it tastes so nourishing, not too salty and how the chicken has been boiled to capture the briny essence of the broth, and so tender that the meat simply falls apart. The aburi taste on it's seared skin elevates the taste of this humble ramen bowl. The yellow eggy noodles are very chewy and springy. This dish is very well mastered.
Value for money, entire drumstick with ramen at only $5.90.
Very filling.
Chicken meat falls off the bone easily. Soft and tender
Saw a online video of this place and decided to drop by to try.
Very filling, the cha-su got 4 pieces. Not bad for $10.90
