Salmon Okawa ($7.9++)
It's salmon flake spread out in japaneae sticky rice. It's very bland actually.. But pretty good if combine with other dishes, but it's much more stickier and more oily than a normal white rice, so choose properly
Mabo Don Set ($16 9++)
The mabo tofu is not spicy at all, I expect mabo tofu at least is cooked witg their red szechuan mala spice but maybe I expect too much. The cheese is good tho, they have add several kind of cheese on the dish, but it's not mixed. So some part you could taste the bland moza, some part you could taste the salty cheese.
The set comes with gyoza which YOU MUST TRY. Honestly the best food in this restaurant is the gyoza! The fried part is crispy and the inside is juicy and savory!
Spicy Cha Shu Ramen Set ($16.9++)
It' so so so soooo not spicy at all. And the soup tastes like chicken soup which is good, but not special. It's not worth the price for me. (except for the gyoza that comes with the set which is SUPERLY RECOMMENDED!)
Pork belly was tender but it was way too salty. Fried chicken was a disappointment as it was hard & dry. Goyza was so-so. Not really a satisfying meal
Omelette always my favourite comfort food and made a trip here to try their signature omelette rice. Just the omelette with rice was actually good and totally perfect if you just need a comfort food (not so heavy one). Accompany your food with some of their signature gyoza also.
Crispy deep fried prawns, a signature item.
Also known as Ebiten.
Chose half size ramen but looked more than expected.
Springy noodles, tender soft sliced chashu and half egg.
Two deep fried chicken, karaage, juicy inside.
Yonehachi salmon okowa, fluffy glutinous rice with salmon fish meat flakes.
Yummy!
Thick cut of pork chop deep fried, its tender and slightly juicy inside, also its already cut so simply tear it using chopsticks.
Fragrant fried rice, slightly salted, overall not bad.
($12.90)
Portion is just nice for ladies. Men might need to get their Large.
Famous for their flavoured rice, this Scallop flavoured is a tad too bland in comparison to their salmon one.
I still prefer their salmon, and their chestnut (available at their Taka outlet) flavoured rice. Price is quite reasonable.
Throwback to dinner with Eleanor earlier in the week. We both tried this place for the first time, food was alright, I particularly enjoyed the Kimchi Pork dish π
Comes with gyoza and miso. Omelette over rice, like omurice but served with a thick eggy broth. Teriyaki was mediocre, gyoza was decent but the creamy egg with the broth was nice 3.75/5
The highlight here was the thick blanket of omelette that was done to an ideal soft, fluffy and pillowy texture! πThe gravy was thick, starchy and resembled that of Mui Fan. The teriyaki chicken slices were tender, with a chargrilled skin whereas the gyoza did not disappoint with its pan fried crisp exterior encasing substantial fillings of minced pork, spring onions and cabbage that was crunchy, juicy and flavourful. Mui fan? Omu rice? Perhaps Tenshin Han is a cross of the 2 .

[PS: JFH members get to enjoy a free pana cotta or beverage with each set meal purchase from 21-23 May.] I opted for the strawberry pana cotta which came with a smooth, beancurd-like texture with a tinge of fruity sweetness from the strawberry infused milk pudding. Not a fan of strawberry FLAVOURED desserts as it always tastes artificial to me, would still prefer if the pana cotta was purely milk based instead, as shown in the deceiving photo π

Mabo Tofu & Salted Egg Chix Set ($16.90)
.
I would occasionally crave for the tenshin (omelette rice) served at Osaka Ohsho at the basement of Raffles City. This was the other set we had for the evening. The mapo tofu was a tad salty and a rather petite size. The salted egg sauce that coated the chicken was delicious but some of the chicken pieces were overfried and dry. For the price, this set is quite good value especially since there was also a side of gyozas and a soup served. Nevertheless, I would stick to my tenshin and gyoza set for my future visits as the gyozas are just so delicious and go amazingly well with the omelette rice!
The Tenshin Han is essentially omurice surrounded in a thick, slightly starchy soup and topped with chashu slices and grated carrots.
Honestly did not expect much from Osaka Ohsho in general but this dish was surprisingly good. The omelette is super fluffy and quite a thick layer and goes well with the flavourful soup/gravy (not quite sure what it is). The best part in my opinion was the soft chashu slices, as they fall apart pretty easily yet have that slight aromatic chargrilled crispiness (plus it smells great). The portion is also hearty and leaves your tummy feeling really warm π
Did not get to try the gyoza which is the signature dish though!
Rating: 4/5
The deep fried pork chop is really tender and tasty. Also, it would easily fall off without using much strength to cut it. β€οΈ However the fried rice is a bit hard and not as soft as expected.
The gyoza has generous filling and the skin can be crispier.π Overall, the service is really fast and quick.
Damage: $15.90++ for this set excluding drinks
Fluffy omelette with rice and delicious broth with soup and gyoza. The gyoza is very good.
Got the lunch set (fried rice + gyoza) at $12.90 ++. I think my expectations were a bit too high thinking that it was similar to gyoza-ya's garlic fried rice, but it tasted just like a normal plate of fried rice with some meat in it. The gyozas on the other hand were SPECTACULAR. Very juicy and absolutely delicious! My friend tried the ramen set and the soup base was clear, and it smelled and tasted like wanton noodles. I guess it's really personal preference as I've seen many good reviews on the ramen.
If you love omu rice or just any form of egg, you'll love this. Osaka Ohsho is known for its gyoza, but the Fuwatoro Tenshin Han won my heart. At $10.90, tasty Japanese rice comes blanketed by a pillowy, fluffy omelette that is so good. The brown gravy is not overpowering, so you can enjoy the complete eggy goodness in a bowl. P.S. They sell two types of Tenshin Han depending on the outlet, I tried both and the Classic version pales in comparison to this one. Don't say I didn't warn you!
Simple meal and the place to go for pan fried Japanese dumplings (Gyoza). Meat dumplings filled with pork, a little cabbage and a hint of garlic but much too dry for my taste. Chicken Katsu was done well with proper breaded marination. 7β£
This is the Dry Chashu Ramen lunch set at Osaka Ohsho, which comes with gyoza as well. #BurppleTastemaker Veronica Phua liked the crunchiness of the beansprouts and scallions, and really enjoyed the well-executed meat aspects of the set! #burpple
