Their signature Nasi Ayam is served with crispy chicken (thigh or breast), sweet sambal, fragrant rice atop with crispy battered bits, along with a bowl of Mee Soto-style soup. For just $1, add sides like sambal hotdogs, fried bergedil or sambal quail eggs!
This chicken rice shop located at 2nd level of Lucky Plaza, usually full house on weekend lunch time.
But they have an efficient system and team that manage the crowd here, so you usually get your foods pretty fast upon order.
I went for the individual set that comes with a plate of chicken, rice, vegetable and soup.
Tender chicken and boneless. A great find in Orchard.
I have been wanting to check this place out after reading the reviews and it definitely did not disappoint!
Freshly fried chicken that was fried to a crisp. The batter was so good. The rice was full of flavour and the sambal chilli added that extra touch to the dish.
As simple and basic as it looks, I was overly satisfied with every bite!
Will definitely be back!

Definitely lived up to my expectations.

The rice was fragrant, the fried chicken was crispy outside, inside tender n juicy, the chilli is more towards sweet side.
Good food and affordable at orchard area, but need to prepare to queue.

Flat. Yup, flatten chicken breast meat. I prefer fragrantly tasty chicken rice, rice. Unfortunately, the rice wasn’t packed with flavour unlike an old Boon Tong Kee stall at the old China Square food court (I don’t know where the uncle relocated his chicken rice stall, super sad).
Anyways, back to the chicken breast meat, it wasn’t mind blowing. The meat was quite ordinary maybe it was my fault to dowse it with black sauce and chilli. The chilli? I feel it could have more kick adding to the flavour notes of the chicken breast.
The soup? Very diluted. It didn’t taste like chicken soup.
Do we blame the poor quality of chicken rice to frozen chickens? Or is it something more systematic plaguing our local F&B industry that is grappling with a covid-19 recovery phase?
What do you think?
Having and allowing staff with such bad attitude to serve customers, it shows that they may not care whether this affects your dining experience. Even if the food is acceptable, it just ruins your day and there are so many other alternative choices available in the area!
Have eaten here a few times already, chicken not consistently nice and can be dry at times. Rather steep price for chicken rice tbh. But okay lah it’s still decent, will still eat here if I’m in the area. And of course lah it’s situated in town, still considered one of the more affordable eats here.
Used to really like this chicken rice, to the extent that I would have 2 bowls of rice in one sitting. Standards have dropped tremendously. The roasted chicken was really dry and tough, while the rice was so soft it was almost mushy. The rice also lost its aromatic fragrant, and is now quite bland.
Brought my friend here and I was embarrassed because of how unsatisfying our meal had been.

Had read about Brother Cheng’s Chicken Rice recently, and decided to check it out — opened by the same folks behind Omakase Burger, Brother Cheng’s Chicken Rice is a new concept that serves up the local favourite Chicken Rice within Picnic at Wisma Atria, located just beside Omakase Burger.
This is the set for one, with a price tag of $14.90 before GST; a premium above the many iterations served at hawker centres, but still a version that stays pretty true to its roots and being quite authentic. Only offering poached chicken here, the chicken here is served boneless for easy eating; coming with a slightly yellowish skin, the skin is silken and gelatinous, while the flesh itself is pretty smooth and succulent — fairly tender, whilst being drenched in soya sauce for some flavour. My favourite element from this rendition is however the rice — for a person who usually skips his carbs, the rice comes all fluffy and savoury; very aromatic as it perfumes of an evident note of chicken stock and ginger, packing a punch of flavours whilst being sufficiently moist. It goes well with the Signature Chilli Sauce, which was a nice balance of spiciness and zippiness; not too heavy on the calamari, yet tickles the tastebuds with its heat which should be pretty manageable for those tolerable to moderate levels of spiciness. Felt the accompanying soup was pretty clean in flavour, though slightly bland if compared to others served at hawker centres — liked how it came with quite a generous portion of tofu however. The You Cai with Oyster Sauce is an optional add-on without any extra charge; blanched, leafy greens which is crunchy, whilst drenched in oyster sauce for a savoury note while the shallots provide a crunch and a contrasting savoury note. No doubt the prices here are steep for the type of cuisine it serves; a plate of chicken rice would cost perhaps lower of $5.00 in a hawker centre, but Brother Cheng’s Chicken Rice is very much worth the experience especially for those who do not mind the price tag, which is still pretty accessible to most — one of the better ones around that we might return for in the future!
Thought it's considered affordable in Orchard, the service staff always display displeasure when we order é¸ˇĺ°ľéĄ and say they have no more 鸡尾 when there are many chickens hanging on display. 🤷‍♀️ This has happened several times, not going back anymore. Chicken rice was also mediocre, nothing to wow about.
