One of my favourite food from their place is the spaghetti carbonara. It is super creamy yet not jelak with an perfectly cooked onsen egg added on top. Do try out their signature pork bacon and peach pizza too! The sweet and savoury combination is unique yet still delicious.
Long queue hotpot! Don’t forget your number from the waiter. The mala hotpot is quite oily and spicy. Meat range and portion is okay. Overall, I prefer 火焰山 and 老四川 over this!

2008 is flanked by many other snow beer eateries but this open-air restaurant commands a better crowd than most, thanks to its tastier eats. Make this unconventional venue your next watering hole with colleagues or friends, and order the Taiwanese Snow Beer (from RM11) — chilled beer of your choice poured into a frozen glass to achieve a slushie-like effect. If you're not a drinker, have this icy drink with the mellower Somersby or Tiger Radler instead. Almost every table here orders identical dishes, so don't be surprised if the attentive waitress finishes your sentence. A method known to help retain moisture, the Salt-Baked Tilapia (RM38) offers incredibly juicy, tender flesh and the signature dish takes 20 minutes to prepare. In the meantime, order the Salted Pork (RM22) and Yin Yong Kai Lan (RM15) that make great snacks with the snow beer.

While known for being a pocket-friendly steakhouse, live band performances and laidback vibes are what make Kaki Corner a real catch. 'Kaki' is a Malay-Hokkien slang to mean 'companions', so make sure to bring yours. The outdoor seats are choice for hanging out with your friends whereas inside, the quiet sets a better ambience for family night outs. Order their Australian Sirloin Steak (RM22.90). Served humbly with a side of fries and coleslaw, the strip is seasoned well and the portion is meaty for its price. Alternatively, the Mushroom Chicken Chop (RM15.90) is also a simple yet pleasing dish that presents juicy grilled chicken thigh doused in creamy sauce. The restaurant opens till 1am so feel free to linger after dinner and enjoy the night breeze with a song request (most bands here take them!).

Called here by their Taiwanese Snow Beer (from RM11) and was surprised to see a whole stretch of similar restaurants offering the same icy drink. 2008 still seemed like the favourite with filled tables, so we sat down for the three signature dishes as recommended by the waitress. Salt-Baked Tilapia (RM38) was an absolute delight — tender meat paired with a spicy, tangy green chili sauce. The Yin Yong Kai Lan (RM15) could have been a little less sweet, but was still a great snack to munch on while still getting your vege intake. Finally, the Salted Pork (RM22) was also a winner! The right way to eat is to put a piece of onion (RAW!) and a slice of pork together, then dip it into the sauce and into your mouth! YUM.

For how many years have I prayed (yes, prayed) for snow in Malaysia? Every single year I pray for a white christmas that doesn't garner making a trip to Genting Highlands for fake, dirty, artificial snow that smells funky. Fast forward, I'm 23 and I've given up on Malaysia seeing its first snow ever. Ever.
But hey, if you still love snow and like beer. Or if you love ice cold beer done different, why not try Snow Beer?
Located in the "shady" area of Cheras, 2008 Snow Beer is a restaurant that has its seats all out in the open and is famous for 2 things: their salt baked fish (another post) and their "snow beer".
What is this "snow beer" you asked? Well, what the restaurant does is that it shakes the beer and then freezes it (quite sure you've read or seen this online). They then serve it in chilled (well they freeze them) glass cups and the moment the beer hits the glass, it turns into a slushy like texture. Hence the name "snow beer".
It's just something different and I must admit it does give a very interesting take on beer.
