If you are feeling hungry late night and happen to be around Serangoon, this place opens past midnight till 1am most of the nights.

Famous for their fishball noodles here and a comfort bowl of warm soup accompanying it.

They added lots of pork lard to it, which making it great texture with minced meat, fishball and noodles.

Helmed by the former-owner's cousin, Chua Chin Heng, this stall opened in September 2016, but is the spiritual successor of the famed brand.
.
Renowned for their hand made fish-based ingredients, formed and shaped using yellowtail amberjack fish, their springy fish balls and succulent her giao / fish dumplings carry mild meaty sweet salty savoury flavour.
.
There's fish paste stuffed dried beancurd skin, spongy and soft, picking up the flavours of the gravy. And tender minced pork, with meaty sweet savoury flavour.
.
Their chewy mee pok / wide flat egg noodles are tossed in a piquant gravy with spring onions and pork lard, bold with savoury salty spicy herbal flavour.

One of the priciest bcm I had.

So many different types of fish balls, meatballs and fish dumplings. All hand made.

Felt the fish dumplings were the best of all.

The pork lard made the dish so much nicer as well.

However, all the taste and flavour made up for it, especially the well executed noodles and the renowned fish dumplings. The noodles were coated in a nice umami mixture and I even saw chopped garlic bits at the bottom with some dried ebi and pork lard bits topped as a finishing touch as well. The star of the show has got to be the handmade fish dumpling that came with it with a chewy skin texture and a filling made with fish and pork. I would have wished for more but sadly this bowl only had a single fish dumpling that was excellent, a fishball that had a nice bounce to it, a meatball that was passable and a taupok that I would not have missed it if it wasn’t there. If I were to return, I will definitely go straight for the fish dumpling noodle.

PRICE: $6.50 for medium

WAITING TIME: 10 mins on a Monday evening
(They open from 6.30pm)

REMARKS:
- Not very good social distancing here. Very cramped. Not possible to sit 1 metre apart from the table behind and in front of you.
- Noodles portion for medium is really quite sad. Less noodles than what you'll get for a $3 or $3.50 bowl at any coffeeshop.
- Herjiao quality has improved greatly from last time
- Still no match for the previous Songkee, tbh. The only thing that's better is the significantly shorter waiting time.

Yummy handmade fishballs and dumplings! Generous servings and a good mix of the variety of ingredients. Like that they are generous with the meat in the dumpling. They also have a Ngoh Hiang stall at the side where you can order add ons to your noodles.
