You Make Mee Happy
PRICE: $4.50
WAITING TIME: ~ 5 mins on a weekday at 1.15pm
REMARKS:
- First thought: 'Skippy peanut butter...?'
- Strong taste of peanut butter
- Comes with minced pork meat and cabbage
- Noodles texture is very nice
- Portion is decent
- Tastes nicer when you add their chilli sauce (the DTF style chilli sauce)
PRICE: $3
WAITING TIME: About 5 mins on a weekday at 1.15pm
REMARKS:
- Noodles texture is soooo good
- Generous portion
- Taste wise, not exactly like the scallion oil noodles we know of. The scallion taste is hardly noticeable. There's a subtle vinegar taste which is usually not present in scallion oil noodles.
PRICE: $8.90 + service charge
No GST
WAITING TIME: Got a table for two immediately when we reached past 8.30pm on a weekday. Food arrived 6 minutes after ordering. 👍
REMARKS:
- Different type of noodles from the Bún bò Huế. This is thinner.
- Soup wise, the Bún bò Huế is a lot more flavourful
- Came with a lot of ingredients
- Very generous portion
WILL WE RETURN? YES. Under $20 for two bowls of authentic vietnamese noodles in town is a pretty good deal.

REMARKS:
- Small space, better suited for dining in pairs
- Very Viet vibes (music, staff, decor)
- FOOD IS GOOD
- Finished every bit of this bowl that tasted so authentic
- Beef is slightly tough
- Customised mine such that there's no bean sprouts
WILL WE RETURN? YES. Under $20 for two bowls of authentic vietnamese noodles in town is a pretty good deal.
PRICE: $6.50 for medium
WAITING TIME: 10 mins on a Monday evening
(They open from 6.30pm)
REMARKS:
- Not very good social distancing here. Very cramped. Not possible to sit 1 metre apart from the table behind and in front of you.
- Noodles portion for medium is really quite sad. Less noodles than what you'll get for a $3 or $3.50 bowl at any coffeeshop.
- Herjiao quality has improved greatly from last time
- Still no match for the previous Songkee, tbh. The only thing that's better is the significantly shorter waiting time.
PRICE: $4/5/6
WAITING TIME: Oddly slow (10 mins) even though there was only 1 person before us on a weekday at 2pm
REMARKS:
- Very watery at first, needs to stir well
- Cockles were fresh
- Not much ingredients
- Couldn't help but think Yishun laksa tastes nicer actually
- We both felt it was a little overhyped. Nice but not thaaaaat nice.
- Only thick white beehoon
WILL WE RETURN? Only if the queue is very short
PRICE: $5
WAITING TIME: ~ 5 mins on a Sunday morning
REMARKS:
- Filling portion
- Soup is very flavorful
- Fresh prawns
- LOTS of clams
WILL WE RETURN? Had this a few times and will continue having it when we are in this area
PRICE: $4.50 for 4 ingredients and $2 minced meat noodles
WAITING TIME: 2 persons in the queue before me at 11.30am. About 5 mins.
NOTES:
- This hawker centre is looooooooong. The layout is a very long rectangular one. This stall is located near the bus stop. Blk 79, not 79A.
- It was our first visit so we walked through the entire hawker centre twice. While we were staring at this YTF stall with a queue, the uncle who just got his food gave us a thumbs up and said we should definitely try this YTF.
PRICE: $6.23 after using Kopitiam card
Consists of 1 bowl of rice, sweet potato vermicelli, instant noodles, beancurd sheets, pork belly
WAITING TIME: 10 minutes on a weekday past 10pm
SPICINESS LEVEL: Chose the highest level. Totally tolerable for me but not for him.
PRICE: $4
+$1 to upsize noodles
WAITING TIME: Slightly over 5 minutes on a weekday past 1PM
REMARKS:
- Smells of vinegar but the vinegar taste isn't so overpowering, so that's good for me
- Nice seasoning. Can taste the fragrance of fried pork lard in the seasoning.
- Fishballs are bouncy
- Soup is nice
- Otak is $1.50 (but we didn't get it)
PRICE:
$4.90nett for 6 pieces + choice of carbs (they even have mee pok and mee kia!!!!!!!)
WAITING TIME: Despite a snaking queue all the way to Jollibee's entrance, their efficient ordering system made it only a short 10-minute wait in the ordering queue and another 5-minute wait for our orders to arrive at our assigned seats
MUST ORDER:
- Fried meatball
- That HUGE mushroom
- Dry instead of soup because the seasoning is just so good! Garlic oil and shallots included!
REMARKS:
- Squeezy elbow-to-elbow seating with strangers. More squeezy than at hawker centres and food courts haha.
WILL WE RETURN? Definitely
Note to self: Opens daily till 6PM
PRICE: $4.50
WAITING TIME: 4 min on a weekday lunchtime
(Beeper provided so need not stand in queue)
PRAWNS: 2
SOUP:
NOODLES TYPE: Many to choose from. Their thin beehoon is unlike the usual thin beehoon. Very nice!
REMARKS:
- Soup is nice but the amount is not a lot
- lots of fried shallots in the noodles, yaaaay
WILL I ORDER AGAIN? YES.
Do I prefer this to its strongest competitor (Albert Street Prawn Noodles) in the adjacent row? I don't know yet. Prices there begin from $5.50 though.
