This brand is known for its variety of fish, and their unique range of accompanying dipping sauces.
.
Choose from a variety of fresh fish, including cream dory, hoki, sea bass, halibut, snow cod, and more. I typically go for halibut, for its lean meaty firm texture and light savoury sweet flavour. The fish is nicely battered, crisp and not overly greasy.
.
The coleslaw of white cabbage and purple cabbage is lightly crunchy, with refreshing vegetal sweet milky flavour. The medium cut shoestring potato chips are fluffy and light, carrying starchy salty savoury notes.
.
Besides tartar sauce, the unique dipping sauces include a salted egg yolk sauce, a shrimpy XO sauce, and a nacho cheese sauce.

One for one meal with mango peach drink. Comes with free flow of four special sauces - cheese, curry , tartar and salted egg - as well as chilli and ketchup.

The thing with BFSF is it's good but not cheap. I went for the most atas fish this time. Was it good? Yes. Was it worth the label? No. It was fresh, fragrant and flaky, but the whole wasn't greater than the sum of its parts. The potato is always enjoyable but I wished it's not so thin. The best thing about BFSF is the sauce platter of tartar, curry, cheese and salted egg. They're all fantastic, although the salted egg sauce was rather nutty.

The fast food fish & chips scene is like murky waters filled with substandard species, but perhaps @bigfishsmallfish is a shiny big fish in that small pond.

Unlike typical fast food, their batter held less grease and more airy crunch. In particular, the 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁 ($13.60) flesh was moist and tender with a tinge of melt-in-mouth gelatin.

Halibut's milder flavour also enabled it as a great vessel for the sauces. It's fun dunking big fish into myriad small ponds of sauces, as well as those sinful golden crisps.

Don't expect restaurant quality but for that amount of coin, this is the best Davy Jones has to offer

The Garlic Bread is well toasted, moist and crisp, with bright herbal savoury spice flavour from the garlic spread.
.
But I especially loved the Mussels In Cream Sauce, with each blue mussel being small but plump and meaty, tender in texture, and having decent fresh sweet savoury flavour.
.
I like that staff have partially deshelled these, making them easy to eat, plus, they've also bothered to remove any dead ones.
.
The cream sauce is lovely, with a savoury sweet milky flavour; I actually used this as a dipping gravy for some of the fish dishes.

The medium sized, farmed salmon fish fillet is moist and flaky, coming apart in large beautiful firm chunky flakes that are dense with a tender chew.

Food at this container eatery are indeed as “Highly Addictive” as boasted on the wrappers.

The signature Fish & Crisps served a savory fillet encased in crunchy golden batter with thinly sliced chips that tastes like no calories.

Variety here is vast: pick how your choice of today’s catch is to be prepared, match with a handful of sides selection and complement your meal with free flow sauces inspired by local flavors.

Place is also situated next to a stretch of quaint container bistros by the river, making for a relaxed night out.

We had the Dory Fish and Crisps ($8.90), and added on a set with a drink and garlic bread. This wasn’t our first time having Big Fish Small Fish, but it was our first time at this outlet. Given that it had rained earlier in the day, it was a perfect evening to have dinner there, it was cool and the view was lovely. The food was great too, we loved the fact that you could have as many different sauces as you want. We did find the Salted Egg sauce a little too sweet for our liking, so it was nice having a variety of sauces so you don’t get too jelat with any one sauce.

Located at Bugis Junction #04-05, Punggol East Container Park #01-K35, NorthPoint, Tampines Mall and Timbre+. Our favourite here are Seabass with crisps $11.80, Salted Egg Calamari w Bonito Flakes, $8.80! Their homemade freshly made crisps are the bomb!!!! It’s thinly sliced and super duper crispy! The crisps goes so well with their self-service salted egg sauce and cheese!! We can stop dipping into those savoury salted egg sauce!! Seabass is very fresh, portion is huge and we really love their batter! Everything is so tasty!! @bigfishsmallfishsg #hungryunicornsg #bigfishsmallfish #bigfishsmallfishsg #bugisjunction #seabass

.
The set meal is served with crispy crunchy, thinly sliced, savoury Potato Crisps, and a trio of dipping sauces; the Sauce - Lemon Mayonnaise, Salted Egg Aioli, Garlicky Chili, each with its own distinct character.
.
The Fish Halibut features 2 long, meaty fillets of halibut fish. It's lean and flaky, with a light, crispy, crunchy batter. Has delicate savoury sweet flavour, with a semi-dry, semi-moist texture. The taste will be familiar to those who like fish fingers.

3 of us ordered the 2 x Dory Fish & Crisps , Bread Chicken, 2pcs Long Cheese Stick (8 inch) & 3 x Homemade Lemonade. They even provide those paper that can suck all the oil. We put the paper around the table and laid out food on it. The sauce they provide were lemon, salted egg, curry & tartar. It didn't have the cheese flavour I was carving for. Maybe they change the sauce they served every period.

The lemonade that they made is so refreshing and sure it is not those syrup mixed with water. The Cheese Stick is great too. Now for the main dish Dory Fish & Crisps which I ordered. The Crisps is freshly made with fresh cut potatoes which is great for dipping with the sauces. The dory fish is flavourful. It is pipping hot and the batter is just nice without it being too heaty which makes you tasty.

Ordered using eatigo of 30% and paid total of about $34 after including service charge and GST for 3 pax. Do note that the discount is only applies to the main dish and the appetizers and drinks are not applicable. I would come here again for the free flow delicious sauce and the Dory Fish & Crisps.

PRICE:
$6.70 for first Dory Fish & Chips
$4.00 to add soup and drink
$1 to add 2nd Dory Fish & Chips (special 2nd anniversary promo)

WAITING TIME: 20 min from ordering to getting the food (Sunday 9.45PM)

REMARKS:
- Not really liking the batter so I scraped away most of the batter and only had the dory flesh
- Adding $4 for soup and soft isn't quite worth it when you can get a bucket of Hite beer for $19.90 next door
- WHY DID MY FAVOURITE XO MAYO SAUCE CEASE TO EXIST!!!

The crisps, so addictive, just can’t stop.

So many sauces, all tasted awesome.

So many fish choices

I felt so spoilt for choices.

In the end, decided to get tilapia@$8.70

& salted egg calamari@$8.80

Yummmmmmmmmmmmsssss

I recall the staff advising me to order from their tilapia onwards because they are all fresh while the dory is/was (?) frozen. I decided to give the Dory & Crisps ($7.90+) a go and also revisted the Tilapia & Crisps ($8.70+). To my surprise, the former seemed to fare a lot better than the tilapia, which had a slight fishy taste that's still salvageable with the yummy range of sauces, my faves being the salted egg and cheese. Regardless, the crisp batter is done really nicely for both fish, but the nicest part about BFSF are the madly addictive CRISPS which I would very gladly get a refill of. 😍
