More Reviews of good food at Whisk & Paddle (Punggol)

Located along the riverside of the idyllic Sungei Serangoon, Whisk & Paddle is one of our favourite spot for a nice relaxed afternoon.

The only problem is that we ain't the only ones as there is often a long wait for a table and an even longer wait for food ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ. It used to get unbearably hot in the al fresco areaa during the afternoon but thank goodness they have extended the air conditioning to most parts of the cafe.

One of favourite dishes here is the crabmeat linguine which features al dente linguine with a generous portion of crabmeat in a spicy tomato sauce topped with Italian parsley. We love the combination of the sweet yet slightly briny crabmeat with the tangy tomato sauce. The only problem is that you might end up reaching for the iced water if you bite on a chilli padi or two!

And while the ๐—™๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ช๐—ต๐—ถ๐˜๐—ฒ ($5.50) was smooth, we felt it was lacking in robustness. However, extra points for the two gem biscuits that came with it, evoking fond childhood memories.

You can't really go wrong with the The crispy, flakey croissant was paired with a creamy scramble and a choice of either candied bacon or creamy dill mushrooms (we chose the former). The sweet-savoury bacon stole our hearts and we couldn't fault this dish.

The ๐—ช๐—ต๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ธ ๐—•๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ณ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐—ป ($20.80) consisted of two eggs (I chose scrambled), smoked pork sausage, bacon, sauteed mushrooms, corn on the cob, salad and artisan bread with sea salt butter.

Everything was competently cooked, with the earthy mushrooms standing out. Not a big fan of corn, but it's uncommon in such dishes and we liked its juiciness. The bread was very fluffy, but its skin was really hard to chew.

Thick cut fries; crispy outside, soft inside, not greasy; was expecting truffle taste on the fries itself; came with creamy & thick mayo infused with strong truffle taste at the side..

Well-balanced black sesame & milk ratio; unsweetened..

Al-dente pasta tossed in tangy rich tomato cream sauce; with generous portion of firm & crunchy tiger prawn chunks; simple yet well-executed dish, worth a try..

Al-dente pasta in tangy with tinge of spicy marinara sauce; with generous portion of fresh clam..

Croissant is crispy outside, fluffy inside, not too buttery or airy; opted for creamy dill mushroom which tastes light, crunchy & juicy; with fresh crunchy side salad..

Variety of ingredients; fluffy scrambled egg, crunchy & flavorful mushrooms, soft & fluffy toast, firm & juicy sausage, bacon & juicy corn cob; portion quite huge, good for sharing..

Tomato cream sauce is rich, tangy & flavorful with seafood flavor; with fresh tiger prawn, clam, squid, mussels, pork sausage slices & juicy corn; baguette is lightly crisp outside, soft & fluffy inside; well-executed dish good for sharing..

The waffle was soggy. The egg was bland, cant taste the hollandise sauce. When taking a bite, only can taste the salmon. Dish was mediocre.

Finally paid a visit to this ulu cafe Whisk & Paddle. Place is nestled within/near a park giving off a very relaxing scenery while eating. Lucky that we didnโ€™t have to queue (there was a surge of diners just a few minutes after we arrived)

Ordered this very bright plate of Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict ($14.80++) with a side of Thick-Cut Bacon (not in photo, $3.50++). Waffles are very good - soft and fluffy with a crunchy exterior. The poached eggs are done well with the oozing yolk. Smoked salmon is a bit bland, but good thing I have the bacon with me helping to up the salt. Could be a bit more generous with the hollandaise as well.

Will reco the place for the ambience (very family-friendly too, btw), food Iโ€™ve tried is good but nothing too special. Would need to try other mains on the next visit :)

Cafe had great vibes and was not too crowded even during a sat lunch

Crabmeat linguine - tomato sauce was the right amount of spice, generous serving

Toffee nut latte - less sweet was still a little too sweet but otherwise a decent cup of coffee, came with two gem biscuits which was a nice local touch

Truffles Mayo fries ($10.80) was crispy and truffley just as expected. View was pretty comfortable and vibes were pretty good!

Bad photo oops, was too hungry and just wanted to eat. Mac & cheese was pretty good, always wanted to try their mac&cheese and finally got it!

Tasted like normal truffle fries, nothing too impressive. But fries still remained crispy after we finished our meal which was good.
