Upon reaching the coffee shop, you would immediately see a long queue at the corner of the shop.

Everyone lining up patiently waiting for their turn to make their order, choosing what are the dishes to get.

A popular lunch spot here with their delicious Nasi Padang. Interestingly this stall managed by a group of Chinese, which the chef gotten his craft 50 years ago.

Started as Serangoon Nasi Padang with a long history behind, they now continue to serve under Serangoon BBQ & Curry here.

They really have an extensive menu here, which so hard to make my decision as the first timer here. Eventually going with their signature BBQ chicken.

The set entitled you with 2 side dishes to choose from, with additional price for some.

Their signature BBQ chicken really live the standard Iโ€™m expecting, grilled so perfectly and juicy.

The very first thing I noticed when I visited @sbc.1983 was the long queue emerged from its stall: to every Singaporean, this is a clear hallmark of good food. As the name states, this stall has been in operation since 1983 and serves a range of flavourful dishes, including mutton rendang, crispy fried chicken, muar otah and more.

We were treated to an โ€œomakaseโ€ of sorts, with two plates piled with an assortment of their protein and veggie sides.

All the ingredients were flavourful and well-cooked, with the veggies being nicely seasoned and salty enough to complement the rice. My favourite of the proteins was surprisingly the mutton rendang, despite me not usually being a fan of mutton. The meat was tender and not gamey at all! The fried chicken was also nice and crispy yet meaty, and the muar otah was a delight as it wasnt the usual flat piece of otah that Iโ€™m used to. It was really thick and soft, yet chock full of flavour and a bit of spice.

@sbc.1983 has a range of set meals with varying prices, you can get an affordable yet hearty $4 meal or treat yourself to their premium proteins like BBQ sotong and curry chicken leg!

my sister's pick - fresh, mild flavoured with a hint of smokiness. as a squid lover, she nodded towards how well-made the dish was, with a good bite yet not too rubbery. we had it with ๐’”๐’‚๐’Ž๐’ƒ๐’‚๐’ ๐’ˆ๐’๐’“๐’†๐’๐’ˆ which we agreed was good in unison and ๐’ƒ๐’†๐’ˆ๐’†๐’…๐’Š๐’ that was a simple and fuss-free addition.

a special shoutout to their ๐’‰๐’๐’–๐’”๐’†-๐’Ž๐’‚๐’…๐’† ๐’„๐’‰๐’Š๐’๐’๐’Š ๐’‘๐’‚๐’”๐’•๐’† that left lingering heat even after finishing. all in all, a hawker delight that i'll be back for, that's worth your visit.

๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿป & iโ€™s favourite - the curry was fragrant, with a tad of tanginess and a resemblance of homecooked food, so comforting. best paired with the rice! i also loved how the fish was fresh and so tender. we had it with their ๐’‰๐’๐’Ž๐’†๐’Ž๐’‚๐’…๐’† ๐’‚๐’„๐’‰๐’‚๐’“, a well-made appetiser which was my dad's pick, where we got a very solid yes from him. paired with ๐’”๐’‚๐’Ž๐’ƒ๐’‚๐’ ๐’Œ๐’‚๐’๐’ˆ๐’Œ๐’๐’๐’ˆ, an easy choice for nasi padang lovers.

fragrant, smoky and full-flavoured - ๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿป & my second favourite! at $5, this plate is a steal and one i know i'd definitely be back for. we had it with their ๐’‰๐’๐’Ž๐’†๐’Ž๐’‚๐’…๐’† ๐’Ž๐’–๐’‚๐’“ ๐’๐’•๐’‚๐’‰ which was chunky, soft and even had pieces of fish within. their ๐’„๐’–๐’“๐’“๐’š ๐’—๐’†๐’ˆ๐’†๐’•๐’‚๐’ƒ๐’๐’†๐’” also made a mark on us with its well-stewed cabbage pieces and jicama that was aromatic with a good spice kick.

A bright sunny day ๐ŸŒค had us hunting for some shiok nasi padang ๐Ÿ› from Serangoon BBQ & Curry 1983! This ๐™›๐™–๐™ข๐™ž๐™ก๐™ฎ-๐™ง๐™ช๐™ฃ ๐™›๐™ค๐™ค๐™™ ๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ก๐™ก is located at a coffeeshop along Sin Ming Road, a distance away from the nearest MRT ๐Ÿš‡. The first thing youโ€™d notice is the ๐™—๐™š๐™–๐™ช๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™›๐™ช๐™ก ๐™–๐™ง๐™ง๐™–๐™ฎ ๐™ค๐™› ๐™™๐™ž๐™จ๐™๐™š๐™จ that any good nasi padang stall should have: mutton, bbq chicken, achar, lady fingers, potatoes, omelettes, and so much more! ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ

Perhaps a small gripe that we had was in the rice. It was slightly on the dry side, and could be softer and fluffier โ˜๏ธ However, the ๐™๐™ค๐™ข๐™š๐™ข๐™–๐™™๐™š ๐™จ๐™–๐™ข๐™—๐™–๐™ก ๐™—๐™š๐™ก๐™–๐™˜๐™–๐™ฃ ๐ŸŒถ and curry gravy helped make up for that!
