📍Serangoon BBQ & Curry 1983 (@sbc.1983)
📌Sin Ming Road
💰 $
The very first thing I noticed when I visited @sbc.1983 was the long queue emerged from its stall: to every Singaporean, this is a clear hallmark of good food. As the name states, this stall has been in operation since 1983 and serves a range of flavourful dishes, including mutton rendang, crispy fried chicken, muar otah and more.
We were treated to an “omakase” of sorts, with two plates piled with an assortment of their protein and veggie sides.
All the ingredients were flavourful and well-cooked, with the veggies being nicely seasoned and salty enough to complement the rice. My favourite of the proteins was surprisingly the mutton rendang, despite me not usually being a fan of mutton. The meat was tender and not gamey at all! The fried chicken was also nice and crispy yet meaty, and the muar otah was a delight as it wasnt the usual flat piece of otah that I’m used to. It was really thick and soft, yet chock full of flavour and a bit of spice.
@sbc.1983 has a range of set meals with varying prices, you can get an affordable yet hearty $4 meal or treat yourself to their premium proteins like BBQ sotong and curry chicken leg!
🍗 Honey Glazed Crispy Chicken ($8.80) (9/10)
A must try, the skin is really crispy and the meat is tender. The honey glaze is really good too, not too sweet and provides a lot of flavour.
🍟 Ah Bao Braised Pork Fries ($11.80) (8.4/10)
Imagine cheese fries, but elevated to include braised pork on top. It comes with melted cheese and mayo too, and the portion was pretty big. If you're into loaded fries, get this
🥐 Salted Egg Yolk Custard Croon
📍Bakery Brera (@bakerybrera)
📌 8 Empress Road
💰 $7.50
Kinda surprised that other bakeries havent come up with a salted egg flavour yet so I'm glad Bakery Brera did. This croon is only available on weekends, btw.
The salted egg is a bit on the sweeter side I feel, its not as strong as I would have liked but its a bit grainy and the cheese biscuit topping is a nice touch.
Also do heat it up as its a little soggy if you dont!

🍱 Ishiro Chashu Rice Bowl
📍Ishiro (@ishirosg)
📌 Timbre+ One North
💰 $10.90
Timbre+ has so much good food so it was hard for me to choose a place to eat, but I'm pretty happy that I went for Ishiro because it is BUSSIN.
The chashu pieces are suuuuuper tender and full of flavour, not like those cheap hard kinds you find anywhere. The egg is so flowy. Yall know how much i love those smexy flowy eggs. Theres also a side of crispy fried tempura flour, which makes the whole dish even more delectable.
Would certainly return for this! Tastes super restaurant quality!

🥘 Khong Bah Pheng ($26++) (7.8/10)
Basically braised pork belly on top of rice. Its a pretty simple dish, but it works. The braised pork belly is super tender and has a rich taste, though I do find it to have a bit of a pungent taste. The rice has the addition of furikake, making it tastier. While its a good dish, I find it to be a bit overpriced esp since theres only 4 pieces of pork belly.
