This stall ranks high in my list of best eats — Located at a relatively ‘ulu’ [a.k.a. remote] part of Jurong West, 香江 serves up a mouth-watering claypot chicken rice cooked over charcoal fire which adds a distinct smokey and charred flavour to it.

Equally obsessed with is their tender, well-marinated chicken and the fragrant, charred crust at the bottom of the claypot paired with generous serving of lup cheong [a.k.a. Chinese sausage] and salted fish. 😋

This piping hot claypot rice is my family’s ultimate comfort food during rainy season in November and December!

Chicken so tender, I thought I was eating fish.

Chicken well marinated also, very tasty and is rather popular with the jurong west crowd. A friend of mine that previously stayed In jurong west will frequent this store often.

This $19 portion maybe not enough for 2, Next time get $25 for 2 pax.

No garlic or chicken rice chilli provided here. Only chilli paid and soya sauce.

Came at 8pm and ordered BBQ Pork rice and had to swap for steam white chicken rice instead.

Steam white chicken is smooth. Roasted chicken and stir fried vegetables was okay. Quick to serve.

1. Steamed white chicken rice $5.90
2. Quarter roasted chicken $9.00
3. Stir fried mixed vegetables $11.50
4. Fragrant rice $1.10 each

For Pokémon Go players:-
1. Boon Lay MRT Station gym
2. Jurong Point Seniors’ Outdoor PokéStop
3. Jurong Point PokéStop
4. Shokutsu Ten Kabuki Actor PokéStop
5. The Centris Swimming Pool PokéStop

Arrived at 12 noon sharp and there was no one in the queue. Tables at the food center was limited but can get one if you waited a while.

Ordered roast duck drumstick rice with roasted pork. Duck was flavourful and skin still quite crispy. Roast pork was a tad salty and very normal. The rice is not the plain white rice but chicken rice type, although it did not have as strong a chicken flavour as your normal chicken rice stall.

The tangy chilli sauce did help accentuate the flavours of the duck and the roast pork. This was a huge plus. Total damage came up to $7.00 which is reasonable considering the level of inflation in Singapore.

If you are in the Boon Lay area and wondering what to eat, why not try Hiang Lee?

PSA The place is pretty hard to find, it's a small kopitiam

Surprisingly it's not very oily, which is usually the case for claypot rice. It's got a good crunch, but there's some hard chew afterwards if you keep chewing. So best to get the medium portion to share between two so your jaw doesn't get tired, yet everyone gets to have nice crust

PSA Call ahead for them to start making early

It really is quite tiny, the ingredients were average, but the chicken is superb. It's so incredibly tender, and the soft gooey sauce just enhanced that even more. It goes with more rice than you'd expect. I'll talk about the curst in the next post

But this is definitely worth a try, even if you don't stay nearby. Probably the best in the west, if you don't count new lucky as west

Absolutely gorgeous.

The pig liver were thickly sliced yet the cook was perfect, it's tender with a little bit of bounce. Miles away from the powdery nonsense elsewhere. If you close your eyes there's really no way to tell that it's pig liver if you never had this style before

It comes drenched in a slightly spicy sauce that works so well. Further it's not very salty so you can eat it by itself too, or with claypot rice, or however you want really

Must try, it's exceptional

Decent taste, meats were tender, sauce isn't too salty. Portion was rather large as well. ($7.40++)

The chicken was lovely, both in taste and in looks. Quite a flawless plate. And even with the thigh cut, only $3. Strong chilli too.

Woke up really early to have this chicken rice as I want to avoid queueing for it or rather I have not even sleep.🤫🤣
Yes! Better to come early to buy their chicken rice as they usually sold out during lunch time and to avoid the queue too.🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️
Thanks friend for introducing this. Loved it.🙇‍♂️
$4.50 for this cheap and delicious fluffy fragrant chicken rice with steamed chicken with silky smooth icy jello skin and roasted chicken with slightly crisp flavourful skin plus a brasied egg. Paired with crunchy cucumber slice and garnish with scallion.😋 Comes with a bowl of clear soup too. Meat wise looks old but it doesn't taste much like its look but rather quite succulent. Oh... And is boneless too.😍
Take their chilli too if you want some refreshing fiery punch.
It is tastisfying and worth your money.👍

💬: Probably one of the MOST tender chicken I've ever had, but then again I eat chicken rice only once a year so there's not much to compare to....
Chicken aside, the rice was okay, could have had a stronger garlicky punch, but the chilli, the chilli was just plain bad - watery and lacking the spicy kick, it did nothing to elevate the chicken rice

I found and ordered from this stall with high hopes, but... Chicken and soup were ordinary. The rice was a dilemma. On first tasting, it's almost as bland as white rice. ln general, though, the light taste grew on me and might be the USP for this stall.
