[Available on Burpple Beyond] I've tried many Impossible burgers since its arrival last year, and truth be told, none of them has ever quite hit it for me.ā
ā
Except for the Happy Days Burger (S$20) from The Goodburger. šā
ā
There's a lot to love about this - it has a chunky Impossible patty, a sliced cheese, a couple of onion rings and BBQ sauce sandwiched in between two brioche buns. Amazingly enough, it doesn't get messy as you're eating it. I had it and I was surprised at how the burger stayed intact from the first bite to the last - which makes it a great, uninterrupted burger experience. šš¤¤ā
ā
With all the shiok-ness of a regular burger that it possesses, it is meatless at its core and mimics the taste of a beef patty pretty decently. I think it's sick to know that food can still be good even without the one thing most of us are used to eating. ā
ā
To summarise it, I'd say - think of this as indulgence with a quality of elegance. šš½ ā
ā
They are admittedly pricey, and that means it's a good thing they're on Burpple Beyond! You can get 1-for-1 on a Happy Days Set (S$26 total)- the burger, some truffle fries and a canned drink. Got someone to share with? Great. Don't have anyone? Even better - more for yourself, right?! š¤© [8.1/10]
[Available on Burpple Beyond] This long weekend is a huge respite from the stresses and toxicity of daily life! And what a better way to finally reward myself for pressing on during the days leading up to it than with a bowl of aƧaĆ?! ššš½
I know that from face value that it seems ridiculous to suggest that thereād even be a difference in quality of aƧaĆ bowls from dessert parlour to dessert parlour. However, I somehow felt that Project AƧaĆ seems to have nailed this and outshone their competitors.
The fruits used are legitimately fresh, with none showing any sign of unpleasant tartness. Plus, some bites really pack a punch of flavour - I was really surprised, though I couldnāt really pinpoint it to a single ingredient. š®
That being said though, I do feel like the staff could be a little more cheery in their interaction. Itās rather concerning that an aƧaĆ parlour geared towards millennials, wouldnāt embrace friendliness as part of their MO. Hope everythingās alright behind the scenes for themā¦ š„¶
[Available on Burpple Beyond] Took an impromptu trip to Windowsill at Haji Lane to try redeeming their Burpple Beyond, but I figured Iād save it for another time instead. So I got their pie + drink deal for $12!
- There was a balance between the sweetness (natural and from the sugar) as well as the tartness from the cherries
- The crust didnāt really come off nicely with the cherry pie filling
- One slice isnāt really enough to elicit a good amount of satisfaction:
- The price is rather steep though, so if you can, opt to get it through Burpple Beyond or modes of payment that will get you cash back
- The dining environment is pretty unique ā ordering at L1 and seats were available at L3, which is a tall order (literally) if youāre trying to hold your drinks on the tray steady šš«
This wasnāt all that bad really, but I suppose there is some room to make the experience more compelling. (6.9/10)
[Available on Burpple Beyond] Iām going to be straight up transparent ā I work here. š¶ I know itād be futile to try and review this, so Iāll just try and drop nuggets of information about the Immunity Booster (aka smoothie) without sounding too sales-oriented š:
āŖļø It has Doki Dokiās Immunity Booster (Passionfruit with Camu Camu) instant superfood juice, banana and milk in the mix
āŖļø I got this with an associate, claiming 1-for-1
Boosters with Burpple Beyond
āŖļøHe got the Antioxidant Booster, which had blueberry instead of passion fruit. Objectively speaking, his was sweeter in comparison to this one
āŖļø The smoothies you will get if you order will come in a smaller-sized cup than pictured
Burpple Beyond always makes my makan journeys better ā I donāt really feel the pinch if Iām getting 2 for the price of 1! š„°
[Available on Burpple Beyond] This was some excellent cheese-only pizza. Itās so flavourful and creamy without being too rich. I had this with 4 other friends and truth be told - Iād not share this if I was given the opportunity to. š„°š
[Available on Burpple Beyond] Not sure what I was expecting with squid ink pasta, but I sure as hell didnāt expect it to embody the taste of tomato base. It wasnāt too bad based on the time I sampled a bite from my friendās plate - it was actually the first time that I tried anything squid ink, and its safe to say I liked it! However, I will admit that itās pretty good even though itās not my cup of tea. š¤£
[Available on Burpple Beyond] Itās a pretty amazing thing to know that Burpple has finally hit the talk of the town status among my circle of friends with Burpple Beyond. I remember being introduced to it and got so excited because I truly felt that it was a step in the right direction and of course, value for money with good food! š
Me and my friends swung by Marina Square for dinner. They were dying to have me try this one out as theyāve had the food before at their other outlet, to which they were coloured impressed.
And I can see why! There was a pretty good flavour to this from the cream sauce - and the gnocchis were satisfyingly bouncy and chewy with every bite. For those whose palates are familiar with gnocchis though, Iām quite certain this doesnāt exactly embody the usual texture. I was fine with it though!
Real talk though - I did start to feel queasy towards the end, but alas, nothing that chili flakes couldnāt fix. š This place also does not charge you GST, which makes a Burpple Beyond deal here a knockout. šš½āØ
[Restaurant Available on Burpple Beyond] It pains me to say that I did not like thisā¦at all. I honestly found it overbearing in terms of sweetness. Iāve had several bread and butter puddings in my life, and none of them have been as criminally cloying as this one.
To put it as viscerally as I can, it was that kind of sweetness in which you can feel ephemeral burns at the back of your throat. This was coming from not just me, but my friend too, who was curious to try some when he saw my strong reaction to it after taking my first bite. So Iām very sure Iām not exaggerating anything here. š©
A couple of of the fruit loaf slices werenāt adequately soaked in the custard as well, which was a shame. The fruit loaf was admittedly dense though, so I suppose it was an inevitable limitation. ā¹ļø
Iāve also kindly told them my feedback on it, and the person attending to me justified the quality by saying there are a lot of sweeteners that went into this:
ā¢ vanilla
ā¢ cream
ā¢ sugar
ā¢ fruits in the slices of the loaf
He went ahead and added with an understatedly defensive tone, āmaybe itās just your taste,ā because other people have apparently said good things about it. š¤Ø
Ummā¦letās just say that I totally disagreed, albeit peacefully. At least Iāve already shared my concerns with them personally before posting about it online. For me, I just hope to be able to be of help, in the case that itās in tandem with how other customers feel. And from there, they can make adjustments their recipe so that they give them a better experience ā good enough to make them want to come back. š¤·š½āāļø (2.8/10)
[Restaurant Available on Burpple Beyond] This was much more gratifying than the Bread and Butter Pudding for sure ā the smoky, woody undertone from the char added a dimension to this dish. The lemon caper sauceās creaminess and tinge of tartness also injected a lip-smacking quality to it as well, which helped this dish make a stellar first impression.
However, I will admit that after awhile, it left more to be desired as its taste gradually regressed to that of an ordinarily delicious fare.
I highly encourage using Burpple Beyond for this because you get another one of their Bestseller main, but for the price of just ONE. Whew! (7/10)
[Available on Burpple Beyond] This flavour was part of their Lunar New Year special as well. Aside from being beautifully adorned, they captured the orange flavour so gorgeously - itās tart but in a very balanced way. šš¼ (8.4/10)
[Available on Burpple Beyond] If thereās one thing that Lāeclair excels in, itās the way they manage to capture the flavours.
Every eclair is not just a delicious choux pastry, but a meticulously designed one that takes into consideration of how each component will hit your tastebuds and palate ā especially the brightly-flavoured pineapple custard-cream and the immediately-gratifying pineapple compote that is taking cover in the choux puff. š The finesse and the flair that you can find in one of these is insane. This is truly the work of a pastry chef who doesnāt just have the mastery at what they do, but the unwavering fervour for what they do.
I think this felt like a refreshing and new experience to eat a Pineapple tart even though it doesnāt stray far off from the original in many ways. This has floored me. Without a doubt, they deserve a score like this one. š¤š½(9/10)
[Available on Burpple Beyond] This was pretty decent! Iāve tried a couple of other variations from elsewhere, but they donāt really measure up in terms of quality. This was the first time I genuinely enjoyed a bubble waffle, come to think of it. š§
The flavours I got here weāre Cocoa, Root Beer Float and Salted Caramel.
And perhaps not surprisingly, their Root Beer Float ice-cream was the highlight - it was very reminiscent of A&Wās root beer even though its flavour was predominantly vanilla. It kinda hit me in the feels hahaha. I got a 1-for-1 deal of it on Burpple Beyond, so I paid $14.20 for 2. Pretty neat deal if you ask me! š (7.4/10)
