One of the popular stall in this food centre where you won’t see the queue because everyone will get a pager upon order.
The waiting time could get long during early lunch time and they usually close around 1pm or earlier.
You would see everyone sitting around waiting patiently for their number to be call.
Understand why they like about this stall. You can choose the items from the display shelf to go with noodle or rice.
Most people would go for their minced meat noodle like mine. Every pieces of the items are tasty for me, as well as the soup. Don’t forget to dip them with the chilli or brown sauce.
This is one interesting take on Yong tau foo, because you can get their signature minced meat noodles as the carbs! I got 6 ingredients with the noodles ($6.50) which was indeed pretty filling. One thing I do appreciate is that they seperate the fried ingredients and the boiled ones!
The minced meat noodles were savoury and has loads of umami flavour with a good bite to it. The minced meat were also very flavourful.
You can tell the ingredients were hand stuffed, as the fish paste is definitely nicer than commercial ones. The soup has a strong soy bean taste too! Although a little more expensive than other yong tau foo stalls, it is definitely a quality one. Will be back!
Long queue at this North Bridge Road Hawker Center stall, albeit somewhat managed by a queue number system. Pick your favourite Yong Tau Fu, hand over to the assistant and tell them the carb you want, dry or soup. Then find a place to seat and watch for your queue number.
At 11.30am, my wait was just over 20 minutes. The noodles were al dente enough with a good dollop of minced pork and the Yong Tau Fu cooked just right, the fried pieces separated from the boiled items. The star of the show must be the soup which was clear and had the flavours of soya bean boiled with ikan bilis. The one improvement would be the chilli sauce which was a cross between chicken rice chilli sauce and Thai chilli sauce.
Overall quite good and the price is cheap. For 9 pieces of Yong Tau Fun and a plate of noodles, the damage was $8.80.
Lao Huang is one of my favourite yong tau fu stalls! This time, we came early enough, so we managed to get the popular ingredients. I particularly like the fried taukwa and meatball. The taupok (which soaks up the soup) is a good option to have as well! The minced-meat noodles is my default order, as I enjoy the combination of the sauce with the tasty minced meat and slightly springy noodles. Crunchy (but not raw-tasting) beansprouts are added too :)
Lao Huang is one of my favourite ytf stores in sg! They sell a variety of items that you pick yourself, my all-time favourites are the fried taukwa & meatball (which was sold out already). In pic: fried taukee, fried dumpling, eggplant & baicai. They use a well-seasoned meat paste as stuffing which I like a lot! I feel like noodle standards have fallen over the years. Nevertheless, I still enjoy the minced meat noodles, which are tossed in a light sauce with blanched beansprouts at the bottom. Their soup is pretty light and tasty too, no MSG! Go early (before 12) because they sell out pretty quickly. Also, the uncle is very friendly :)
“Lao Huang Hakka Niang Dou Fu” is one of the tastiest “yong tau fu” stalls in Singapore in my opinion. I have been visiting it for years, sometimes at least once every week over a period of time.
Located at stall #01-108 inside North Bridge Road Market & Food Centre, this is a family-run gig. At any one time, dad can be spotted busily stuffing the “yong tau fu” ingredients while mum does the cooking and the daughter manages the orders.
Speaking of orders, we paid $15.30 for ours today but I am perfectly happy to do that as their food is very tasty and “yong tau fu” is undeniably labour-intensive, more so with different types of filling - 4 versions in total to be specific: boiled fish paste, fried fish paste, boiled minced meat and fried mince meat.
The highlight for me however, has to be the special minced meat they scoop on your order of noodles or rice. It is so appetising I could eat that on my own.
They start operations in the morning and tend to sell out by early afternoon so go early for greater variety.
One important thing to note is the stall is closed 3 days a week - every Monday, Thursday and Friday. So please remember to avoid those days if you don’t want to make a wasted trip.
