More Reviews of good food at Coffee Break (Amoy Street Food Centre)

I've been overseas for 2 months and yk what I really miss? A darn good kopi peng๐Ÿฅน like this ๐€๐ฅ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐Š๐จ๐ฉ๐ข ($๐Ÿ‘). But if you prefer lattes, get them unflavoured because the ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐œ๐ก๐ข๐จ ๐‹๐š๐ญ๐ญ๐ž ($๐Ÿ’.๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ) and ๐Œ๐š๐œ๐š๐๐š๐ฆ๐ข๐š ๐‹๐š๐ญ๐ญ๐ž ($๐Ÿ’.๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ) were mild tasting but smooth.

We were intrigued by their innovative toasts so we got some to try๐Ÿž๐Ÿž ๐‘๐ฎ๐ฆ & ๐‘๐š๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐ง ๐‚๐ซ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž ๐“๐จ๐š๐ฌ๐ญ ($๐Ÿ‘.๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ) reminded me of Japanese cream sandos! The cream was fresh๐Ÿผ and had a strong rum taste. However, the v hyped ๐๐ฅ๐š๐œ๐ค ๐’๐ž๐ฌ๐š๐ฆ๐ž ๐“๐จ๐š๐ฌ๐ญ ($๐Ÿ‘.๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ) was too heavy on the butter and I found the ๐„๐š๐ซ๐ฅ ๐†๐ซ๐ž๐ฒ ๐‚๐ซ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž ๐“๐จ๐š๐ฌ๐ญ ($๐Ÿ‘.๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ) too perfumed๐Ÿ˜ฃ

We had to order this because of the unique flavour and we werenโ€™t disappointed. The earl grey taste in the cream was prominent though we have to say the cream itself tasted like the icing buttercreams on our old school type of cakes and may get jelat after a while. This would be good for sharing

This was a filling portion for $3.50 and we liked how they werenโ€™t stingy with the filling, though we wished the bssm flavour would be more intense.

Tried the Black Sesame Toast for tea break and I enjoyed it! Personally prefer a thicker toast, but I love the nutty richness of the black sesame spread sandwiched between the crispy toasted bread! The sweetness of the black SSM is balanced out by the savoury slab of butter (which is more than what Old Town White Coffee in Malaysia would ever give but anyway..). ๐Ÿž๐Ÿ–ค If black sesame isn't your thing, they have other unique flavours like Kueh Salat and Blueberry Brandy Creme! Also, wholemeal bread = healthier option!โ€‰

Highly recommend pairing your toast with a drink for a $0.50 discount! The Iced Caramel Mocha came in handy against the rising temperatures in SG!

Toasts from @coffeebreakamoy !

I have been wanting to try their toasts for some time already!

Got the black sesame and taro creme ($3.50 each) to try!

Between the two, I actually preferred the black sesame! For the sole reason that I did not expect that the taro creme one to be more like BUTTER CREAM? And I do not really fancy the creamy butter cream! I was expecting taro orh nee texture? LOL! I was also surprised that the Taro Creme came with a slab of butter as well!

For the two toasts we got, their crispiness varied, so it seemed like the toasting of bread slices isnt very consistent. The Taro Creme one was crispier than the black sesame toast!

They have other flavours like peanut butter, hazelnut cocoa, ciannmon sugar, earl grey creme and raspberry almond creme (all at $3.50 each). Otherwise, there is also the classic flavour of kaya butter, butter sugar and butter only (at $3 each).

Tip: Come with a friend, order the two toasts separately, using shopback, and you can get 10% shopback credits confirmed straight away when you make your second order :)

My default order here. I do not like sweet coffee at all and Iove that their caramel is not syrupy sweet and I def get the sea salt.

Obviously someone who can't appreciate coffee, guess it's smooth but it's not sweet at all. Really mild, u can barely smell the caramel and there's no saltiness as well.

We caught a 1-for-1 promo while we were there (hence the crazy amount of caffeine here), but as much as I wanted to love all the drinks we got...I really didnโ€™t.
.
๐—œ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ž๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—ถ ๐—–: exceedingly diluted, it basically tasted like my coffee sat there for half an hour. Let me clarify that anyone whoโ€™s eaten with me know I take my photos in a couple of seconds โ€” I canโ€™t be bothered with bringing my food to some abrupt corner โ€” so this definitely wasnโ€™t a result of the coffee sitting out for long.
๐—œ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—•๐˜‚๐˜๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ฃ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—Ÿ๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜๐—ฒ: tastes almost exactly like buxโ€™s toffee nut latte lol I was shooketh. The syrupโ€™s discernible but not overly sweet, and coffee was very bold and nutty as well so this was a really enjoyable drink.
๐—œ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฆ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜ ๐—–๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—น ๐—Ÿ๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜๐—ฒ: perhaps itโ€™s cause their syrups arenโ€™t overly sweet, the salt came across reeeeeally strong here โ€” a little too much in fact. I could taste the nutty earthy sorta caramel profile, but I didnโ€™t get much sweetness so this really turned out to be a slightly odd drink.
๐—œ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—•๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ธ ๐—ฆ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฒ ๐—ž๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—ถ: oooh I actually loved this the most. It tasted like muah chee/sesame paste but kopi-fied. Super nutty and flavourful, and I loved that there was actual grounded sesame seeds in the drink!
.
If anything, I found that Coffee Breakโ€™s drinks diluted really really quickly, with the Black Sesame flavour being the only exception. Still theyโ€™ve got a fab range of drinks and Iโ€™d say give em a try anyway; perhaps the hot beverages would fare a lot better.

๐Ÿ“Coffee Break (Amoy St)
- Kopiโ€™o kosongโ˜•๏ธ

Not the cheapest Kopiโ€™o kosong you can find at Amoy St but still, their coffee was pretty good, robust enough and that coffee aroma~

In need of this for afternoon boost.

Damage: $1.60

Hojicha Latte ($4.80) The drink really tasted not much roasted tea but the aftertaste have changed to normal milk drink *hmmm* HOUJCHA > MILK >.< I should keep my standard that it was slightly high a bit and didn't really satisfied me recently if they didn't used good power. But they got a lot of variety for drinks and toasts at coffeebreak and u all can tried their recommended drink in menu.

Tried the hazelnut latte today and itโ€™s not too bad. Slight layer of froth at the top of the drink. I prefer their sea salt caramel latte though as it is more unique.

โ€ข Caramel Rum Mocha, Iced (S$4.50)
Bold flavor of rum that goes well with the mocha. The level of sweetness is on point.

โ€ข Rum & Raisin Toast (S$3.50)
Disappointed with their toast. The toasted wholemeal bread was hard and the rum & raisin cream spread was tasteless. Wouldnโ€™t order their toast again.

Matcha Coconut Toast ($3.50) ok I finally waited their premium toast for a long time and yeah Matcha Coconut fillings just leaked out (I cri) because I left it at my bag. I just salvaged by taking it from my bag. To my surprise, ๐Ÿ˜‚ I DOUBT MYSELF TO BE THINKING THIS COCONUT OR MATCHA TOAST AGAIN WHEN I EAT ON FIRST TRIES ๐Ÿฅด. COCONUT > MATCHA ๐Ÿค” Matcha Coconut was quite good and they are also selling in bottles if you are interested to buy from them. I really like the wholemeal bread that they use it but the traditional or premium fillings for bread they are creative for selling it out.

Matcha Tea Latte ($4.80) (Less Sugar) The drink really tasted like Jasmine Green Tea but the aftertaste have changed to normal matcha latte *hmmm* I should keep my standard for Matcha slightly high a bit and didn't really satisfied me recently if they didn't used good Matcha Powder. But they got a lot of variety for drinks and toasts at coffeebreak and u all can tried their recommended drink in menu.

Love their toasts! Tried out their butter sugar, earl grey, cinnamon, peanut butter and coconut matcha flavours so far. Personal favourite is still butter sugar. They have a wide selection of drinks as well, would always get this whenever iโ€™m in the area.

Finally managed to get the earl grey toast! The toast is filled with a generous portion of earl grey spread and butter. The earl grey taste is really prominent. The toast should be eaten immediately to enjoy its crispiness. Friendly staff!

Love at first sip. I usually only take flat white or latte unadulterated with any syrup but decided to order their best seller. Itโ€™s creamy, milky and flavourful without being cloyingly or artificially sweet. My must buy whenever Iโ€™m in the vicinity.

Enjoyed it a lot!!!!!! Though the price is slightly steep for a hawker coffee, but I really liked it!! The tinge of caramel was tasted and thankfully itโ€™s not too sweet which was to my liking :-)

Wholemeal bread was used, didnโ€™t really like it. There was a decent amount of butter, but the amount of kaya could have been more generous. The toast was crisp, but it was too thin for a satisfying crunch. Personally not a big fan of their toast!

Sadly, this sounded better than it tasted. The matcha spread didnโ€™t taste much of matcha and instead, all I could taste was coconut (almost tasted like kaya because of that). The bread itself was also really thin and the wholemeal bread just didnโ€™t really work out too. Give this a miss and stick to your usual old school kaya toast!
