Unfortunately this stall has folded. Although the portion wasn't much, it's always good to have interesting foods. The rempah flavour was intense haha.
You donโt need to go to a Korean fried chicken restaurant to satisfy any KFC cravings you have anymore. Instead, drop by Jade Chicken at Ci Yuan Hawker Center for delicious Korean Fried Chicken that ainโt gonna break the bank.โ
โ
They prefer to sell their fried chicken whole or half ($28/$14.50 respectively), but they do have a couple of combos and sets, such as this here Two Piece Chicken Set for the low price of six dollars flat. Two pieces of fried chicken are thoroughly coated in your choice of Sweet Spicy, Soy, or Honey Butter, and complemented by a mound of plain white rice, fries & coleslaw. Honestly the fries werenโt sufficiently salted, and I didnโt really care for them.โ
โ
What I did care for were the two pieces of fried chicken. I had them coated in Sweet Spicy sauce, which is sticky, sweet and sufficiently spicy to set your tongue aflame. The fried chicken pieces managed to retain their juices within, and the large piece of fried chicken breast that I got was still sufficiently moist. The thin coating of batter that encases the chicken within was near flawless, striking that ideal balance of thin, light and tremendously crunchy. Despite being coated in the Sweet Spicy sauce, the batter held its crunch exceptionally well.โ
โ
The coleslaw was extra creamy, almost as if it was intended to combat the moderate spiciness of the Sweet Spicy sauce, and the riceโฆwell, fried chicken & plain white rice is a pretty delish combo. Overall, at just six bucks a plate, I canโt really find fault with Jade Chickenโs birds.
Leo Satay's innovation. For folks who wanna snack on satay but can't buy a bunch to share with others. It's paired with ketupat, cucumber and onion.
Sichuan famous delights stall
Dan dan noodles @ $4.50
The noodles are a bit overcooked.
Soup tastes a bit different from usual, might be from the additional roasted peanuts, which is not bad.
Everything else is quite normal.
Sichuan famous delights stall

Nasi padang stall
Quite a bit of queue during lunch time so decided to join and see if it's any good. It's not bad but not fantastic which makes then price point a little high.
The rice is chicken rice which is a bonus.
The chicken rendang is tasty though rather ordinary.
The veggie is a little too salty.
Might try the dishes next time.
Theย ๐ฆ๐๐ถ๐ฟ ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ ๐ถ๐น๐ธ ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ ($12 medium) and ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ป ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐น๐น๐ ($12 medium) were competently executed too. We liked the latter for their extremely crispy exterior and bountiful centre. They weren't too greasy as well because after devouring a few, we didn't feel ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ข๐ฌ , so that's highly commendable.ย
It's easy to see why @hkchefkitchen is so popular. Affordable and heartwarming dishes that the whole family can tuck into will always draw a crowd. The pandemic has hit F&B hard, especially those heavily reliant on communal dining like zi char stalls. Let's #supportlocal businesses and dine in at a nearby zi char stall this weekend.

The ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐๐น๐ฒ ๐ง๐ผ๐ณ๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ ๐๐๐ต๐ฟ๐ผ๐ผ๐บ๐ ($15 medium), another recommended dish, was universally praised as well. The silky smooth tofu contrasted nicely with crunchy broccoli and earthy mushrooms to create a masterful dish that we couldn't get enough of. Don't waste the glorious gravy; drench your plain rice in the savoury sauce and it becomes another delicious dish.

It's actually better than I expected! There's always a chance any durian food sucks. This was a good milkshake with rich durian, as opposed to too durian or no durian.
This was excellent, and I understand they painstakingly make their own tofu beancurd with gypsum powder and soy milk, resulting in a beautiful wobbly soft texture.
.
Paired with crunchy broccoli and a duo of tender mushrooms (shiitake and straw), this has deep robust earthy vegetal grainy sweet savoury flavour.
.
Better than other versions elsewhere.

The red spotted grouper fish is large and fresh, with fish meat that is firm and tender, flaking off easily from the small bones.
.
Served Hong Kong Style in a blend of light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, white sugar, ginger, and spring onions, the steamed fish takes on the salty savoury herbal notes of the gravy, complementing its natural sweet savoury flavour.
.
Pretty good value.

I like this dish and was excited to find it here. Generous and lots of ingredients. No complaints.
Theres a long queue for this.
The cod fish meat was damn soft and very compatible to the sauce.
For $4 this set has a fried egg, cabbage and a curry big sized chicken drumstick. The added bitter gourd was only $0.80 more and itโs really worth it. Overall the curry flavour and taste is authentically Hainanese. Yummy!
The highlight of this mala store is the addition of you tiao (fried dough fritter) to the food selection. When served, the fritter is deep fried to a perfect crisp, picking up the chili oil and spices well.
Their mix is fragrant, but the entire dish lacks the numbing punch I so love from typical mala eateries. Itโs also slightly sweet which was strange. I ordered medium spice (ไธญ่พฃ), but it was so mild I might have ordered small spice (ๅฐ่พฃ) instead.
The both of us paid a total of $20.70 for the pictured portion. We ordered a big bowl with one serving of instant noodles, and didnโt get rice.
Iโd definitely be back for the you tiao, and perhaps try ordering the highest spice level next time. Overall an okay place.
