For National Day this year, you can count on this partnership between Surrey Hills Grocer and Chef Shen Tan to make you want to stand up for Singapore. The four locally inspired dishes will bring a modern interpretation to our classic favourites and will be available from 1 August to 31 August. The โ€œBa Chor Meeโ€ was my favourite, and it will be available at all Surrey Hills Grocer outlets and features hand-made tagliatelle tossed in a chilli and pork lard mix, topped with Chef Shenโ€™s 5-spice pork confit, it was chef kissed from each bite.

The Curry Fish Udon comes with a generous piece of locally farmed barramundi with a tangy-spicy curry sauce while the Rendang Beef Short Ribs Rice Bowl is paired with multi grain nasi ulam and coconut scrambled eggs. Lastly, the Shendol pays homage to the classic chendol dessert but modernized with coconut panna cotta with a pandan coral sponge. All 3 dishes are exclusive to the Raffles City outlet.

Not too greasy and paired with flavourful dill tartar and seasoned fries.

One of the better fish n chips thag i tried. The fish was really tender. The batter wasn't too thick so you can taste the fish with a thin layer of crispy batter. The tar tar sauce was really nice too. Sadly, the fries wasn't salted evenly and some of them might be abit hard.

The food is on the pricey side but of good quality. The spaghetti was al dente and is tomato base. You can slightly taste the wine being used. The duck confetti was well marined and very tender. You can easily slice it off the bone. Would recommend this!

Didnโ€™t expect myself to enjoyย Surrey Hillsย Grocerโ€™s airy fried dough ($22) as much as I did. A fun twist. Think crisp crumb-coated donut balls paired with drizzles of pistachio praline, strawberry compote, fresh berries, buttery crumbs, a scoop of raspberry sorbet (pleasantly tart and tangy but leaning slightly toward face puckering), and creme chantilly. Sweet, bright, nutty, fruity and refreshing.
