From Springleaf Prata Place
Don't let its humble appearance fool you - the Murtaburger from Springleaf Prata Place is a flavour bomb waiting to explode in your mouth!
The combination of a juicy lamb patty, melted cheese, and savoury sauce, all wrapped in a crispy prata, is absolute perfection.
And the best part?
The self service fish curry and chicken curry!
The curries add a depth of flavour and spice that elevates the dish to a whole new level.
Trust me, this Murtaburger tastes even better than it looks!
As for the classics, you canโt go wrong with an onion prata ($2.30 per piece). Although I wish it was stuffed with more onions, I still enjoy Springleafโs version. The edges are charmingly crispy, while the inner parts are satisfyingly doughy. The diced onions provide a mild sweetness that gets accentuated when you dip it into the curry, and speaking of curry, Springleafโs curry chicken ($5.80) is quite delicious. Itโs pretty heavy on the spices and light on the coconut milk, so it does feel a little scratchy on the throat. The chicken is moist and cooked well, and is the perfect platform to soak up the curry.โ
โ
The odd thing here is the orange object, which is Springleafโs unique Hi-Fibre Plain Prata ($1.70 per). Itโs not that much different than a standard prata other than being denser & stodgier, and Iโm not too sure how effective it actually is at keeping your pipes flowing free, but it doesnโt hurt to try.โ
Every year, @springleafprataplace invents a new crazy prata combo. From the famous Murtaburger, to the Plaster Blaster, the Prata Alfredo and now the Praclette ($10.20 nett) from 2021, thereโs always a wacky mashup thatโs going to raise an eyebrow. The Praclette is a plain prata that has sriracha smeared on it as the sauce base, and a slice of turkey ham alongside sautรฉed black olives, onions, mushrooms are placed over it. โ
โ
For the finishing touch, a thick layer of molten Swiss raclette cheese buries everything under it, hence the portmanteau Praclette, from the root words โprataโ & โracletteโ. Itโs a piece of fried dough with turkey ham, olives, onions and mushrooms under an avalanche of melted cheese, it was always going to be absolutely addictive. It really does taste like a pizza, and you could argue that it fulfils all the criteria to be classed as a pizza.โ

Thanks for the invite, @springleafprataplace & @thestephaniebenedetti!

There are many prata shops in Singapore but Springleaf holds a special place in our hearts as our go-to for a prata fix after school. When we heard that they had come up with an ๐ข๐ธ๐ผ๐ป๐ผ๐บ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ถ dish, we had to give it a try.
.
In celebration of National Day, Springleaf Prata Place has come up with an ๐ต๐ฌ), featuring your classic cabbage, egg, ham, and bonito flakes on a soft and springy Thosai base. While the texture was slightly different, the flavours reminded us of the Okonomiyakis we would get at Japanese restaurants. In addition to thisi, we got a chance to try their signatures such as the ๐ฑ๐ฌ) which really tickled our minds as we never thought that a fusion of eggs benedict or cheese burger could work so well with prata.
We also ordered their:
๐ ๐ถ๐น๐ธ๐ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ ($๐ฐ.๐ฑ๐ฌ) (our first time getting this - but we 100% recommend!)
.
If you've been curious about what an Okonomiyaki Thosai is like, why not head down to Springleaf and try it for yourself!
Thank you @steph for the warm invite and @springleafprataplace for the amazing and nostalgic food!

It was my first dining experience at Springleaf Prata Place and my first visit to their newly opened outlet at The Venue. I am a dosai lover so I was hoping to enjoy a good quality dosai from Springleaf.
Upon entering the restaurant, the decor and setting was a let downโฆ it doesnโt look inviting and the staff donโt greet me and my friend when we entered the restaurant. The table we chose to sit wasnโt even properly clean.
We ordered 2 dosai with egg and onion, and 2 glasses of teh halia. The Halia in the teh wasnโt strong enough and out of the 2 dosai ordered, only 1 came with egg and onion, the other just egg. My friend was kind enough to accept the wrong order and make do with the dosai without onion.
The ultimate let-down was that the dosai doesnโt come with the basic coconut chutney. When I feedback to the staff, I was told that they may have run out of the chutney. Comโon, you are a Prata and dosai specialty restaurant, how can you run out of the basic coconut chutney at 5pm.
Apart from the many disappointing experience, the one saving grace is the crispness of the dosas. It is cooked to perfection. It could be more perfect if more onions can be given for the additional $1.40 I am paying.
Overall, I am happy with my dosai but can be improved in many ways such as the service, cleanliness, and the basic gravy for dosai to be available throughout business hours.
