Seng Kee is popular for their Mee sua Soup. Had always been going to their Kembangan Main branch, and I would gladly confirm that it is just as good here at Kaki Bukit.
Herbalicious and flavourful Soup.
Meats were tender & fresh.
Added some chilli padi, and the soup was damn shiok.
This hawker centre version of the main unit at Kembangan is quite different. But it has this signature dish. I haven't eaten it in years. I don't take innards so mine's all sliced pork. It came boiling hot. Overall, it was decent but not extraordinary. The herbal soup's fine but could be better. The pork was quite basic. Seng Kee is really defined by how unique this dish is in Singapore.
Rainy weather calls for a hot piping bowl of comforting kidney/liver/lean meat mee sua at Seng Kee! Need no introduction, you could see someone slurping up a bowl at almost every other table in the hawker centre. For someone who doesn’t like mee sua, I found the mee sua flour taste here more receptive and its texture about right, not overly gooey. Innards lovers will surely enjoy this, as the innards are pretty well cooked, not over till rubbery or powdery. The herbal soup came as a surprise for I was expecting something more soupy but the consistency was a little thicker. A touch of sesame oil lifted the overall aroma of this homely bowl of mixed innards mee sua.
Really good. They have portions for different pax so not to worry. Luckily i got mine when there was no one in line, yet it was still a 15mins wait
Though the wait was definitely worth it. Dare i say perfectly steamed Fish, such that my first mouthful just disintegrated. Super fresh as well, with no fishiness. Sauce was good and between the sourness and spiciness, it doesnt cover up the natural taste of the Fish at all. Though even at less spicy my mouth was alr tingling, so i would advise only those who know they can handle heat to ask for the normal spiciness.
Btw avoid the Plum slices and Plum seeds as they overwhelm your tastebuds(and they look like the Salted veg). Everything else in the bowl can be eaten
Soup is really was quite thick, with a consistency that comes close to a gravy. Guess I came here with the wrong expectations, because I expected something that's really unique but what I got was a very comforting bowl of soup which I have absolutely no complaints about. While the soup is highly raved about, an underrated component is how well the liver and kidney slices are cooked. It's pretty much flawless, however I didn't really like the pork slices that were coated with flour to make it tender but a bit gelatinous
The herbal soup is not as strong as compared to the previous time I ate, ingredients is lesser too. Nevertheless, it is still a decent bowl of mee sua especially during rainy weather (S$4).
