Dropped by PS. Cafe for a quick lunch today after running some errands in Orchard and their truffle shoestring fries is still consistently good. Perfectly crisp with a nice truffle fragrance and topped with grated parmesan. The chicken rossa penne is my usual go-to, the garlic tomato cream sauce is a nice balance of tangy and savoury. However, the spicy king prawn aglio olio fell short today with the spaghetti being the main culprit; under-seasoned and was cut up into shorter strands, a move that might anger many diners.

I’ve never see any review of this dish before so thought to give some of my comment. This portion cost $18 which is the same as their Truffle Fries (the more pops one). My honest review:
Crust of the mushroom is still crispy when served πŸ‘πŸΌ
However, there’s nothing really special about this dish though and because it is fried, the mushroom still pretty oily. Can be quite jelak after eating a few pieces. So probably I will stick to the truffle fries instead of this.

homemade toasted caraway bread, layered with smoked turkey, grilled cheese, bacon, mayo & cranberry jam, served with shoestring fries

We ended off our meal at PS. Cafe with a dark chocolate banana cheesecake, which looks like a typical cheesecake that is topped with a generous slab of dark chocolate. The chocolate layer is pretty bitter so it is great for fans of dark chocolate, while it might not be palatable for those who love milk chocolate.

As the name of the dessert suggests, the cheesecake is not your typical cheesecake as it is infused with banana. The tastes of banana and cheese are both pretty pronounced, however, and surprisingly, they go pretty well together! The cake is also fairly large and we think it's best to share the cake because the cheesecake can be pretty cloying after a while... 😰

As PS. Cafe has always been serving slightly more upmarket dishes, the cheesecake is a little expensive as well and it will set you back by around $15++. If you are not a fan of bananas or cheesecakes, we suggest that you don't order this for dessert.

We wanted to try something that we have yet to try at PS. Cafe previously, and we landed on the crab tart! This is basically a quiche stuffed with a pretty generous serving of crab meat and egg encased in a buttery crust! The filling was really crab-by and it really has the legit taste of crab meat. The tart was then placed on a plate that has a thin layer of prawn-flavoured bisque, which was arguably pretty flavourful!

To be honest, we found it strange that the tart was placed directly in the bisque because all it does is to make the crust of the tart soggy. 😰 Furthermore, the seafood flavour of the bisque doesn't really go well with the buttery crust. It would have been better if the bisque was placed in a separate receptacle, which allows you to eat it however you like. I would have drizzled a bit over the tart filling, and not the crust of the tart itself!

Also, the quiche is way bigger than it looks in the photo so it will definitely get pretty filling towards the end of your meal. Hence, you may wish to share the quiche with someone, which will allow you to enjoy more dishes as well!

The dish is priced at $32++, which is pretty steep in our opinion. While you are probably paying for the decent amount of crab meat, this is a dish that we are unlikely to order again.

As we heard that PS Cafe was famous for their truffle fries, we decided that we had to order those fries as an appetiser. When the waitress came with our fries, we were shocked to see the huge mountain of fries that were covered with parmesan cheese, and emanating the aroma of truffle.πŸ˜…

The fries were served piping hot and we liked that they were really crispy, even after the dish has cooled down. You can get the full serving for $16++, which is more than enough to be shared between 4 to 5 persons! Alternatively, if there are only 2 of you, it should be possible to request for a half-serving, which is priced at around $8++.
