We went to Toa Payoh Lorong 8 looking for cheap draft beer for a lazy sundate and stumbled upon this mookata gem. Selling at $22 nett for 2 pax for a set, it's definitely a steal and we decided to give it a try. What delighted us is not merely the price tag but the apparent effort they put in to ensure we have a great meal.
From the painstakingly de-shelled prawns (but not de-headed so I can cook them in the soup) to the cheery boss who walks around chatting with customers, it felt like going to a friend's home for party instead. Sometimes it takes more than just good quality ingredients to earn loyalty, and this place does it right by providing a cosy and friendly atmosphere, almost felt like we were back in a kampung.
Special mention goes out to Otto Berlin Haus lady who filled our beer pints to the brim and shared the same sprightly spirit.
Mookata, draft German beer and warm hearts, what more can we ask for? 😊

For $39, you are served with a array of meat and veggies. And while the meat looked unseasoned, when BBQ, they are pretty yummy and well-marinated. The clear winner had to be those 4 prawns that are extremely fresh and very rare, given how many mookata places actually served frozen prawns. So thumbs up to them! 👍🏻 The soup is a tad watered down, lacking just a little. And do note, while the set states for 4pax, I felt that it is just enough for 3pax. So do order extras if you are a large eater.
