Can Eat Hawker Food
This stall has always formed a long queue be it rain or sunny, day or night. Itās a newly open stall at Hoa Nam Building coffeeshop. I was curious to try whatās the hype is all about.
First I came at 12.30pm, and saw the queue is lesser than typical day, so I decided to give it a shot. Queue for about 20mins and wait for the food for another 30mins. Considered very fast compared to normal days.
Ordered their best seller: Yung Kor Hor (fried hor fan with gravy and egg yolk in center). Never tried this kind of dish before, it came with a raw egg in the middle of cooked hor fan.
The taste was under my expectation, as it wasnāt very special that worth the long waited. It just not your ātypicalā hor fan. The dark soy sauce taste overpowering everything, and could tell itās not even a finest grade of soy sauce. Aftertaste is a bit ājelakā. The dish is complimented with a good amount of fried pork lard - ladies, beware your diet.
For me, quite sensitive of lard and easily put on weight whenever I consumed pork lard. Overall I would give 7.5/10. I felt guilty after eating this food as too many starch and pork lard went into my tummy.
The duck was tender and juicy, the gravy was thick and flavourful and dip into their chilli (I pour to my noodle š).
We pair it with rice and noodle.

Yuan Yang to get the best of both worlds! Can understand why the long queues.
The bright red colour of the Soup Tulang Merah ($10 + $2 for bread) from Haji Kadir Food Chains (Golden Mile Food Centre #B1-13/15) was not the most appetising sight at first glanceš Armed with plastic gloves, straw and a resolve to not stain my shirt, I dug into the mutton bone marrow stew and it was surprisingly good. The sauce was sweet and spicy and it was a great dip for the bread. Although the bones did not have a lot of meat, it was quite satisfying to gnaw the bits of meat directly off the bones. The meat was tender and it was not gamy (I think the sauce helped!). The jelly-like marrow inside the bone can be sucked out with the help of a straw and few knocks on the bone. Achievement unlockedš¬!
So we decided to lunch out today ! Their signature salted vege duck soup is still as peppery and tasty as before . āļøāļø

Been eating this wonton mee since I was a kid. The fragrance of the lard and the sauce, the QQ-ness of the noodles..now only if the portions were bigger (just go for $5) and the opening hours were more normal š
Everyone loves their wanton mee and has their favourite place to get their fix. Probably some would point to Koungās in Geylang as their favourite.
Menu here is simple and straightforward. Wanton mee ($4) and dumpling soup ($3/4/5). I had the wanton mee and requested for additional ingredients (additional $3). Itās rather old school style here. The egg noodles here are firm, thick and springy and I really enjoyed chowing down the noodles. Char siew here is the traditional variant - lean and thin. Itās roasted in a charcoal oven in-house. Although it was lean and had a low fat proportion, the char siew has a sweet, honey taste and tender texture.
I love how they are generous with the lard and the bits are crispy and certainly worth the artery clogging. The sauce is a special concoction of dark sauce, lard and chilli sauce. I had my noodles extra spicy. Whatās good is the chilli isnāt so spicy for those who canāt handle their spice and doesnāt mask the flavour of the entire dish.
So what about the wanton and dumplings (shui gao). The wantons have a generous filling of minced pork. Dumplings were decently sized and similar to the wantons except that it had a piece of shrimp and water chestnut. The wrapper was slightly on the thick side and I wished it could be a little thinner and itād be perfect.
(aka could not remember the shop name š¤)
Koka noodles served with spicy broth and generous ingredients(slice pork, mince pork ball, liver and vegetables).
The broth not as spicy as Itās looks and I added an egg for $0.5.
I prefer their Pork Koka Noodle, the broth more flavoured.
Itās Healthy way to eat Instant noodle.

We checked out the Michelin Bib Gourmand New Lucky Claypot Rice at Holland Drive, and it was already very packed even at 5 plus. Love the slightly burnt rice and the very tender chicken!
Mee tai mak with sufficient wok hei and umami from minced pork, chai poh and raw egg. Bubbling gravy is luscious and savoury to the palette. This has been a firm favourite since our discovery last year šA medium serving good for 2 costs $8 only, what more can we ask for? š²
