After spending that long in a queue, the logical decision is to go for the largest bowl with the most liao. I was a regular here many years back, but have stopped visiting ever since the queue got even crazier after they won the star (and it was already long before they got it).

Regulars who have visited them since they were at Hill Street said they may be inconsistent from time to time, but generally the standard is still there. I'm still loving the texture of the noodles, the sweet freshness of the pork ingredients, and most definitely their housemade vinegar.

Instant gratification at this small eatery on level 5 of Far East Plaza where getting a table is challenging. Worth a try to satisfy your Zi Char cravings in town!
Previously known as Sushiro, it has now expanded (again) to level 3 of Thomson Plaza and rebranded as @omotesingapore with a more modern Japanese dining concept.
Definitely my new to-go place to fix the chirashidon cravings.
Doesn't open till 9pm and tuck away in an unlikely hawker centre along Crawford. Expect to wait for an hour or more. Wanton noodle taste as it is named after, 油菜 with 豬油渣.....OMG! One of my favorites. Yumminess: 4/5
Considered one of the best, if not the best, fishball noodle in Singapore, raved by many, Song Kee serves super tasty Fishball Noodle. There are options for $4, $6, $8, greedy me of course ordered for the $8. I am glad the noodle portion is normal and not too big. Make sure you ask for the chili sauce with the noodle which makes a difference as the shrimp paste umami-ness game is strong. The $8 portion comes with three types of fishballs, fried tofu with fishball filing, her kiao (fish dumpling with minced meat filling - Chinese ravioli!). The her kiao was the star of the dish, soft and goey filing. So good, i even then bought the uncooked ones (80 cents per pc, min. 10 pcs) to bring home. Song Kee, I vow to return for more.
Located in Kovan, this 24-hour mala joint offers a wide array of fresh ingredients including unique stuff like spinach noodles, tea tree mushrooms, as well as pig intestines. They go all out on heat here, so unless you're a spice fiend, we suggest going one down on your usual spice level. Their flavour-packed sauce is so good, it makes that steep price tag ($22 for two pax) worth paying for.

Meltingly tender juicy bone-in beef short rib with a delicious Korean sweet soy marinade, which was an excellent complement to the generously marbled meat. Just look at that sear on the meat! Unlike American and European-style short ribs, which include a thick slice of bone-in beef, Korean-style short ribs are cut lengthwise across the rib bones resulting in a thin strip of meat. (Flaken meat) Nonetheless, you still get that mandatory fall off the bone texture!
Enjoy this with the makgeolli (Korean rice wine). They serve the original along with tons of interesting flavors!

Mixed chilli flavour with limbo fish type. The amount of chilli looks intimidating but it’s not too spicy with just a little of the numbing feeling!! 4/5 perfect for rainy days!
The place itself is worth going! Situated at Chijmes, Hvala sells ice cream and matcha flavoured drinks/coffee in a very nice and well designed store. Many ceramic pieces on display as well.
A very late post cos it’s off the menu already but I have to post because I made a very conscious effort not to miss the last of 2018, having missed so many of these collabs 😛 Part of their guest chef series ft Chef Jake from Burnt Ends, this was a handful of incredibly good sandwich which I was glad to have splurged on as the last sandwich of 2018. And possibly the best.
So much flavours in play here. Rich creamy marrow, juicy grilled portobello, tender slow roasted beef rump, cheddar cheese and that fresh horseradish that gives a bit of tangy spicy kick which helps cuts through the richness.
Sad to see it go but can’t wait for more amazing collabs in 2019!😁
