More Reviews of good food at Kaki Bukit 511 Market & Food Centre

From Tong's. It's not spectacular but I quite enjoyed it.

A much smaller food centre at Bedok with a short walk from Bedok Central. Mandarin Chicken Rice is one of the popular stall here.

Their white chicken was really juicy and soft. Pretty much a comfortable meal to have for lunch.

Pratas were not bad! The kosong one was abit crispy on the outside. The curry is tasty, and the thick type which I prefer.

Mee Siam from stall #01-16 Dapur Aishah. Nice gravy with good balance of sweet, spicy and sour. Would eat this again 👏

Fans of the wet version of Hokkien mee will love this. It comes with good chunks of pork belly alongside the usual beansprout, prawn and sotong in a delicious and rich stock, topped with crispy pork lard. The noodles are fried to a perfect springy and firm texture, infused with rich and umami seafood flavours. The tangy lime and spicy chilli also compliment the prawn noodle well 》$6

I like that the Oyster Omelette comes with big, plump and juicy oysters while the omelette comes slightly charred at its sides, adding an extra crisp to the dish!

This is one of my favouritest dishes at this hawker center in Kaki Bukit. The Hokkien Mee is one of the best that I have had, it comes very wet, the way I like it and you can taste the sweetness of the seafood in the broth. I also like that they are generous with the amount of ingredients thrown in, a must try if you ask me!

This Chinese-owned and run hawker stall at Kaki Bukit Market & Food Centre does brisk business for their satay and barbecued chicken wings. Every time I visit with my parents, I see them hustlin’ non-stop to get the ever-growing pile of orders ready.
Although they offer three kinds of satay (pork, mutton and chicken), it’s the poultry that we usually order. I like the size they cut the chicken meat to - thin enough for the marinade to be fully saturated yet thick enough for a satisfying bite. The skin and fat are absent but the meat in this case, never needs any help. It‘s unerringly smoky, full in flavour and tender enough. Do get a portion of their “ketupat” (steamed rice cakes) to accompany. They do a soft one that goes nicely with their satay.
I have had the barbecued chicken wings from “Chong Pang” numerous times too and have always found them good. They are consistent in quality with no unevenness in grilling, and have none of the frozen-for-too-long smell that you get with some stalls’. Served with the wings is a tangy chili dip with kick.
Another plus point: The stall has a buzzer system so there is no need to stand around the stall to wait for your food.

The size is smaller but is quite juicy ($1.40/pc).

Stumbled across this while searching for comfort food during the #wintersingapore week where hubby & I wanted something warm & soupy for dinner. Loved it because shorter queues, more ingredients (wantons & bar chor bits at the bottom!), more soup + noodles & chilli padi added that much needed kick. Sorry Bedok 85, but I think I'll stick to this now.

OMG DAMN FRIGGING GOOD MEESUA WITH THE KIDNEY, LIVER AND MEAT. THE SOUP IS DAMN FLAVOURFUL I WANT TO DRINK IT UP WITH A STRAW. CRAVING FOR THIS ALL DAY ERR DAY. #FORBIDDENLOVE #Bestcomfortfood

The noodles here had a less intense taste, but still remained savoury while carrying wok hei to it and fried alongside with peas, bits of mutton, egg and vegetable.

Throwback to yesterday's Hokkien Mee! I simply love hokkien mee that is more on the 'wet' side. The pork is in slightly bigger slices too. Comes with pork lard as well and the chilli is the sambar chilli type. 4 dollars per packet. Like how they package it in a zi char style box. The shop name is simply called "Hokkien Fried Prawn Noodle"

Rich, sweet and tasty broth, fresh clams and prawns. I prefer sembawang white beehoon's starchier beehoon where all the stock is soaked up but this is quite a comforting plate that I wouldn't mind having for supper every once in awhile!

Seafood White Beehoon from 旺盛海鲜白米粉 (#01-06) is available at $6, $10 or $15. We had the $10 portion to share between two of us and there were 4 prawns, clams, white cabbages and pork lard. Loved the abundance of sweet seafood broth and that attracted passerbys constantly asking us which stall we bought this from!
This was served with chilli padi but I wished there's the tangy sambal style chilli instead — that would be perfect!

Opened for only about a week when I was there, the stall at unit #01-06 specialises in one dish only: the seafood white bee hoon. If I remember correctly, they offer 5 variations of it. Besides the one I had, which is the standard with prawns and clams, there's a version with crayfish, another with flower crab, yet another with fried fish and a last version combining 3 types of seafood. As basic as it may be, I thought mine was already very good and was pleased that for $6, the portion was generous. It came with plenty of gravy that's redolent with fragrant pork lard and rich in seafood stock. All but one of the prawns tasted fresh (oh well) but the clams were uniformly satisfying. The generous amount of Chinese cabbage gave the dish a lovely sweetness while the "kng chye", a leafy green herb, imparted quite a strong flavour.
