So Lemakās prawn paste chicken(Har Cheong Gai) is exceptional. It was crispy, fragrant & juicy.
The sambal is equally impressive: a well-crafted balance of subtly spicy, fragrant chili that avoids excessive oiliness.
Also liked how they seperate the ikan bilis & peanuts, so u have an almost equivalent amount of each. unlike some other nasi lemak stores where I find myself eating peanuts with a few strands of ikan bilis.
Food - We got the Spicy Lobster Triple Chirashi ($24.80) and the Spicy Dashi Chirashi. Portion-wise, was more than decent for those with smaller appetites. Taste-wise, it was nice but slowly became very cloying mid-way through, plus the seafood wasn't the best in terms of quality and freshness.
Service - While the food was served quickly, it was hard to get the staffs' attention. It took me close to 2min just to signal someone to come over to refill the soy sauce.
Ambience - Space was pretty small and very echoey. You can pretty much expect an uncomfortable din throughout your meal.
Also, remember to make a reservation before heading down! I made mine while walking over from the MRT, and pretty much just strolled in. Those in the queue I think had to wait for about 30min+, so save yourself the trouble.
Came by for post-dinner drinks but couldn't resist trying something off their extensive menu. We got the Pollo pizza ($28) and the Lasagna ($27) to share. The pizza had generous chicken chunks over a delicious tomato sauce base, with the onions and green chilli lending a nice crunch and zing to every bite. However, the lasagna was a clear standout - the excellent tomato sauce was further amplified here, mixed with the meatiness of the beef ragout. We polished this off in no time, and would have licked off the sauce if we could! Happy hour was also great, with our Menabrea tower only costing $59, and if you have Burpple this would be a very value for money dinner and drinks hangout.
Even if this was a cafe and I got the meal for takeaway, I really cannot smooth over the sheer disappointment I had while struggling through the Signature Classic Barn Burger ($19.50+). My main gripe was that the bottom of the burger was completely soaked in grease! The base bread was all limp and soggy, and I couldn't get a bite in without the lettuce and patty all slipping out. - everything was just falling apart! And this was only about 5min after I collected the package and walked across the street to Timbre+ to have my meal. Simply terrible experience.
That's right! Located at Pek Kio Market & Food Centre, this simple, humble, and honest stall is run by an elderly couple serving up old-school style fried rice. The ingredients are basic, consisting of chicken, fishcake, eggs, spring onions, and ikan bilis, but the proportion of rice to ingredients is generous. This plate of fried rice is suitable for small eaters. However, if you are a big eater, you should order at least two plates. It is tasty and savoury. Although it lacks wok hei, it is still a delicious and budget-friendly fried rice option.

Heard many people raving about this place. Queue at peak hours are more than an hour wait. The Xiao Wan Mian ($7) was quite generous in its portions and ingredients, with quite abit of pork slices and minced meat in the soup. Noodles were bouncy, with an old school vinegary kick, but kinda lacked an umami flavour from the chilli. Soup was definitely rich with meaty pork flavour. Very decent but not worth the 1+ hour wait though.
japanese vibes, in a cosy corner of centrepoint which was not overly crowded. free miso soup for everyone. staff were friendly and helpful. they took photos for us, kept a birthday cake and lit the candle up for us. stayed for 2 hours. staff were attentive and refilled the drinks for us.
We have been coming here since its opening over 20 years ago. The offerings are very good, ample and original (eg. puffer fish, cartilage, heart, etc). At this recent visit, we noticed that service is much less proactive, and prices have skyrocketed to an exorbitant $75 per pax. Sigh.
