It was an umami-laden dinner over at Fei Lou Fatt last week, where we enjoyed their Ang Kar Prawn Pao Fan ($16) and Signature Fei Lou Noodle ($20) respectively. The broth that had been simmered for over 8 hours was robust and savoury, and the prawns were fresh and of quite a substantial size! Love the crispy rice crackers in the former and also enjoyed the addition of abalone in the latter.
We also got a plate of Lok Lok to share, where we enjoyed the well-fried ingredients that were dusted with an addictive sze chuan mala powder. They are currently having a ‘STACK ALL YOU CAN’ Lok Lok Challenge, where for just $5, you can enjoy unlimited lok lok ingredients as long as you can stack them on a plate. You then get your choice of seasoning (Seaweed / BBQ /Sze Chuan Mala / Furikake) and dipping sauces!
If you're a Lok Lok fan, you can't miss this challenge!

For those unfamiliar, @feiloufatt is a prawn mee and lok lok eatery located at Upper Thomson, and it's the newest venture of White Restaurant, home to the famous @whitebeehoonrestaurant.
Apart from Lok Lok, I tried the Ang Kar Prawn Noodle, both soup and dry. As the broth was simmered for over 10 hours, it was hearty and robust, rich with prawn flavors. I've got to comment that the prawns were really fresh and huge! You can choose to spice up the bowl of noodles with their house-made Hae Bee Hiam Volcano Chilli which was very fragrant and mildly spicy.
Are you up for the challenge? Bring your friends along and compete who can stack the highest tower of Lok Lok!

Springleaf is far away from any busy neighbourhood but easily to reach via the Thomson Line. Here you find a row of eateries right in beside the MRT station.
Recently White Restaurant has introduced their new concept focusing on the prawn noodle.
Interestingly to see they choose such location to open their new shop, there wasn’t much people even when I came during lunch time on weekend.
I ordered the big bowl of prawn & braised pork ribs noodle. Comes with few pieces of half peeled prawn and braised pork ribs. I wasn’t sure but the noodles portion don’t seem big enough for me even I order the big size.
Great thing is it comes with some pork lards and the soup tasty. Prawn taste fresh to me.
The braised pork ribs given some parts which not easy to chew.
The Big Prawn-suke is served with fluffy short-grain Japanese rice, and topped with the same ang kar prawns found in the Signature Fei Lou Noodle.
