🇸🇬Happy National Day Singapore🇸🇬

From 8 to 14 August 2022, @binary0101.sg marks National Day with highlights of local flavours (from $18++) expressed through Asian culinary approaches and a Western mixology classic.

In commemoration of Singapore’s 57th birthday, the gastro-bar curates a $57++ National Day set menu, perfect for two persons. The menu is offered from 12pm to 5pm and comprises 2 glasses of Milo-tini with 3 dishes:
- Chicken Wings “Nasi Lemak” served with house-made sambal tumis;
- Seafood Laksa Pasta; and
- Jumbo Chicken Satay.

Available for a la carte orders throughout opening hours are the National Day specials – Jumbo Chicken Satay ($18++) and Milo-tini ($24++). Served in a martini glass, the latter is a local take on the Manhattan with the toasty malted notes of Milo balanced with rich, full-bodied Old Forester Bourbon. The former presents four hefty skewers of grilled cubed chicken thigh served with the classic sides of cucumbers, onions, and peanut sauce.

Savour local flavours this National Day at @binary0101.sg !

This National Day set menu will be available from 12pm to 5pm and comes with 2 glasses of Milo-tini with the following 3 dishes: “Nasi Lemak” Chicken Wings, Seafood Laksa Pasta and Jumbo Chicken Satay. The chicken wings are especially tasty with the berempah spice mix with the sweet-spicy sambal tumis while the laksa sauce on the pasta has the right balance of lemak and spiciness.

We ordered the one with pesto, but unfortunately they served us the lao gan ma chilli crisp. It was already served, and we didn’t want them to toss it, so we accepted it. Regrets lol I don’t usually like such chili flavours and I didn’t appreciate this one either. It wasn’t too spicy, and was only slightly numbing so I could still taste my food. The octopus was seared and had a crisp exterior which was nice, but the texture inside was a little strange, it lacked that tender / fresh bounciness that good octopus usually has. Not a bad dish, just a little sad that it wasn’t as good as expected. Perhaps an off day, or maybe the pesto one would be more up my alley.

I liked this! There’s corn, olives (a few), onions, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, purple cabbage, edamame, pine nuts, and some kombu topping. The salad tasted v fresh, tossed in some sort of vinaigrette (?), and was served cold, so it was even more refreshing. Portion is quite big but it’s very easy to eat! Seems like a simple dish but it’s done well and we enjoyed it.
