From the Burpple community

Located under Marymount Community Centre at level 2, you will find this affordable local Japanese food place.

They offered a quite extensive menu for ramen and rice. I would recommend you getting their value set meal for a few specific main item and go with 3 pieces of seaweed chicken and drink.

Their signature tonkotsu is the standard taste you could expect, nothing special to shout for. But definitely worth if you just want to grab some simple meal. It comes with slices of chashu, black fungus, spring onions, and an ajitama egg.

Affordable and surprisingly decent ramen! The $12 set comes with a main + drink + 3pcs of seaweed chicken.

Broth packed a punch, char shiu was almost melt in your mouth, hanjuku egg was soft and marinated well. Overall a good bowl of ramen, esp for its price 👍

An addition to the list of affordable ramen chains in Singapore is @ato.mein ! I recently chanced upon their outlet at Marymount Community Centre, which is located within a school vicinity, therefore you’ll see many students ambling in after school hours.

Here’s what we tried:
𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐭
This is my favourite dish! A French-inspired ramen made of clear chicken and dashi broth, blended with seafood seasoned salt and served with a huge tender and flavorful chicken leg.
𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐓𝐨𝐧𝐤𝐨𝐭𝐬𝐮
The ramen came complete with chashu, black fungus, spring onions, and an ajitama egg. I like how they gave a full ajitama egg without requiring an additional top-up.
𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐢
Despite the striploin boasting a reddish hue, it was slightly tough. A colorful and healthy bowl!

Aside from ramen and rice bowls, they offer sides such as 𝐄𝐛𝐢 𝐅𝐫𝐲, 𝐆𝐲𝐨𝐳𝐚, 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐬(𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐲, 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐬𝐞, 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐬𝐞) and 𝐘𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐚 𝐂𝐮𝐛𝐞𝐬.

Hit @ato.mein up if you’re looking for a comforting bowl of ramen at pocket-friendly prices.

Tried out the Ramen from @ato.mein ! The ramen is made from imported flour from Japan and the noodles are self-made! For the soup, real pork bones are cooked for 12 hours to make the delicious ramen noodle soup! All the ramen comes with black fungus, spring onions and an ajitama egg.

Chicken Confit ($13): This was the highlight of the meal for me! French and Japanese Fusion dish! Very impressed with the very tender chicken that is slightly grilled on the outside. The chicken was surprisingly flavourful, not dry at all. It was sooo good that one can just eat the chicken without dipping it in any sauce! The ramen for this item was the thicker cut ramen!

Spicy Tonkotsu ($11): This ramen was the thinner round kind of ramen. Be warned, this spicy soup is really spicy! Not for the faint hearted. Love how the two portions of tonkotus given was very meaty, not stingy at all!

Gyoza (6 pieces for $9): Must get side dish to complete the Japanese Ramen Meal! Gyoza skin was crisp and not dry/hard at all. Generous amount of minced meat, and goes well with the gyoza sauce and mayo (self service from the cutlery counter)!

Curry Croquette ($1.60): Tried this unique croquette because I rarely see such croquette sold elsewhere. Very delicious! It is like eating japanese curry rice in croquette form. Recommend to try this!

Roselle ($3): I kind of like this roselle tea! It was slightly sour, but not overly sour.

Yuzu Green Tea ($3): Very refreshing drink to quench all thirst! Fragrant jasmine green tea with some yuzu twist!

A decent, standard bowl of tonkotsu. For its price, the soup was quite tasty and ramen noodles had a pretty good texture. A safe pick - could give it a try if you’re nearby and want ramen at slightly more affordable prices. Otherwise, I wouldn’t really travel for this.

We visited this eatery on a weekday evening and it was relatively empty. We had to wait for about 20+min for our food to be served. There are both indoor and outdoor seats, and the area is peaceful and cooling. It’s conveniently located right beside Bishan-AMK park, so you could always take a nice stroll along nature after the food.
