58 BCM noodles are springy, their pork liver was cooked to perfection, and the chilli sauce was damn good. Alot of pork lard.
Spring onion self service.
This is a rather popular store here, and expect to queue at least 30mins for this.
Haven't visited for a long time, generous portions and I like their chilli sauce
Since 1973, this stall has been drawing queues for their simple, unassuming, well-cooked BCM.
.
No meatballs or dumplings here, just the use of fresh tender pork loin and minced pork, crispy pork lard, and 2 kinds of tender braised mushrooms (shiitake & button champignon).
.
The chewy mee pok / wide flat egg noodles picks up the gravy of light soy sauce, black vinegar, and sambal chili paste well. For those who a prefer stronger taste, a bottle of black vinegar sits on the counter; add as you like.
.
Has bold meaty tangy sour earthy savoury spicy flavours.
.
The clear soup carries a heady sweet savoury flavour from the pork bone stock.
.
Crisp spring onions and bird's eye chili to complete. Queued about 15 minutes.

β 4/5 β
π΄With a long queue of 15 people even before the 9am opening time, we knew this was a must try. After 45 mins, we dived into the bak chor mee with high expectations and glad that it did not disappoint.
The winning elements were first, the mix of pork lard, vinegar, and chilli created a moreish sauce that coated the noodles well, and second their generous serving of perfectly cooked liver slices and soft minced pork pieces. Also liked the self-service of fresh and crunchy spring onions, chilli slices, and extra vinegar.
On the sauce and ingredients alone, this would be a 4.5-5 β . The one letdown was the noodles that though springy, was too starchy. The accompanying pork soup was tasty but not particularly noteworthy. Overall, would eat this again if in the area. We'd say it's worth a 30+mins queue (but not an hour), especially if you have the time to spare.

The noodle is cooked to the right al dente texture while the sauce that is mixed in it has pork lard oil, making it very flavourful and appetising. And you can just look at the generous serving of ingredients such as pork liver, sliced pork and minced meat that comes with it.

I ordered the medium bowl minced meat noodle which come in three sizes ($3/$4/$5).
.
Served in a porcelain bowl, I see sliced mushrooms, sliced pork, minced pork and pig's liver atop a mound of mee pok.
.
A good tossing revealed the hidden sauces underneath. Dressed in a luxurious coat of sauce made up of their piquant chili sauce and probably pork lard oil, the noodle now looked like a million dollars.
Do not be intimidated by the seemingly potent chili sauce which is not that spicy at all. Two kinds of cut chili - the normal red chili and chili padi - are provided if you want some heat.
There is also a bottle of black vinegar on the counter which you can help yourself to for more sour notes.
