($1.80) Another old school style and type for chicken wing without topping or sauce or extra flavour. I felt that their chicken wing got just default and plain style and really satisfied me so much. They literally cut chicken wing into two part for easier eat. They just served in hot and warm as they cooked in batch by batch. A lot of people queued up for their chicken wing before 11.30 a.m. before the shop opened.

Freshly fried and crispy fried chicken wings laid beside a heap of fragrant rice and garlic chilli. The chicken wings are well marinated with hints of spices then perfectly fried till golden brown with a crispy and crunchy skin on the outside, juicy and succulent on the inside. The wings are extremely flavourful which makes you want more of it. Remember to dip it into their garlic chilli that elevates the shiokness and flavours of it 》$3.50 + $1.50 Extra Chicken Wing

Famed since 1982 as Carona's Fried Chicken Wing Rice (sold in 1992 to a franchise), and in 2013 to 2020 as Two Wings (established by the extended family), the original founder continues to serve irresistible fried chicken wings paired with chicken rice, and a righteous fiery garlic chili dipping sauce.
.
Their meaty chicken wings are marinated overnight to allow the marinade to settle in, then coated in a house blend of flour and spices, and flash fried.
.
The crisp golden skin is light and you taste the distinct salty savoury spice notes, then you get the tender juicy texture and natural sweet savoury flavour of the chicken beneath. Nicely balanced.

The fried chicken wing was crispy and juicy.

Chilli was so-so

The rice was nothing fantastic.

Will come back again just to buy the chicken wings.

Ugly Picture never mind. Just know that it took 30 mins in the queue to buy this! There were many people taking away boxes by the 10s. And we were there 15mins before opening hours on a Friday… This is not your average chicken rice. Is that 花雕酒i taste in the marinade? Chicken wings x2 were flavourful. It is essential that you consume your food ASAP as the wing-batter tends to get soggy. Oily and sinful yes. But good taste + great price= I travel to Jalan Besar just to have this for lunch.

This is the fourth time to drive to Veerasamy Road for this Chicken Wing Rice. The last three times they were either closed or the queue was too long. This is during soft CB so I can only packet the chicken wing rice and hope for the best.

Today the queue was more palatable, only 27 minutes even I arrived on the dot at their opening hour. After a 30 minute journey back, I was surprised that the wings were still crispy. The flesh under the crispy batter is succulent and can taste the marinate. The rice was just normal chicken rice but the wings goes very very well with their chilli sauce which was spicy and tangy.

I’d rate this up there with Yong Yan’s chicken wings. Will certainly be back.

Tried the popular fried chicken wings ($1.50 per piece) and it hits all the sweet spots in a good piece of chicken wing: 1) the meat is tender and juicy, 2) the batter is very crispy and 3) overall, super flavourful and fragrant. The chicken wing goes well with the tangy and garlicky chilli sauce too - pretty hard to stop at one😋!

I ordered the rice along with it (not shown in pic) and I was more impressed with the rice than the chicken itself. Fragrant and moist even though it was dabao-ed home, it was not clumpy at all and I could really see myself having a second serving if I had order extra!

Spotting the same recipe as the Carona Chicken that used to be all the hype back when I was a kid, I still don’t see the appeal of this chicken though 😕

Still a good meal nonetheless!

The hanaisse rice is fragrant, served with 2 pcs crispy fried chicken wings and pair it with chilli, and its $3. Its really value for money.
If not enough, you can buy the chicken wing itself , by top up $1.2 for one chicken wing.
💰$3.

The fried chicken is well marinated with the marination going into the meat instead of just on the batter while the spicy tangy chilli dip making it more addictive. I am sure you will not stop at one and you can get it as an ala carte or the Fried Chicken Wing Rice Set ($3), which comes with ginger garlic infused rice. A must-try when you are here and the wait is well worth it.

PRICE: $3

WAITING TIME: Got it almost immediately on a Public Holiday around 2PM

REMARKS:
- 2 pieces of really good and crispy chicken wings
- Rice can be more fragrant
- Loved the chilli sauce
- Loved the free flow soup

WILL WE RETURN? YES!

NOTE TO SELF:
Chicken wings at $1.20 each

We were in the Jalan Besar area and decided to check this stall off our respective makan lists. The fried chicken wings were quite tasty (although they were not served hot as we would have liked), and the rice was the hainanese chicken rice kind of rice which was a plus point (really went well with the chilli sauce). Overall, this is a cheap & good option if you’re in the area but not something i would travel all the way down for.

The famous fried chicken rice that i grew up eating every sat during NAFA piano school days. Only managed to locate this stall a few months ago after much googling. (Apparently the tony cafe at adelphi uses the same fried chicken wing recipe as this). Thanks bf for helping to dabao to my house! 😘 i had 3 chicken wings in total! *burrrpss* (ten) fingers-licking good! 👍 #burpple #burpplesg #victorfamousfriedchickenwingrice

Slightly greasy in my opinion, but the fry does provide a nice crunch and the chicken wing is moist and tender. Combine it with the porridge they sell at the neighbouring stall and you got a pretty decent combo!
