Stumbled upon this stall after reading Misstamchiak’s blog post covering the food in 2019. The rice has the mild coconut fragrance and flavour while the sambal chili is on the sweeter side. The rest of the ingredients such as ikan bilis peanut was fried well and the chicken wing has a five-spice flavour to it.

The standouts at this stall by young hawkers were the chicken wing and chilli sauce. The batter is unique, like biscuit and closer to how the West fries chicken. The chilli is the type so good you can pair it with anything.

A interesting nasi lemak stall that manages by 2 young lady. I came on Saturday morning and they were busy preparing the foods for delivery.

So the waiting could be longer when there’s lot of order for delivery. I almost waited for more than 39 minutes.

The normal set ($3) comes with the usual items such as fried chicken, ikan bilis, peanut, fried egg and chilli sauce. I definitely love the fragrance of the rice. Chilli sauce unfortunately wasn’t hit me a lot. Fried chicken was crispy.

Carrying on her dad’s Simpang Bedok Nasi Lemak legacy, second generation hawker Charlene now runs Tree Coconut Nasi Lemak at Berseh Food Centre with her own recipe.

Hits and misses as the fluffy rice lacked an impactful taste although it rendered a mild coconut milk aroma. A dollop of the slightly sweet sambal chili would help though! The ikan bilis and peanuts, however, left a greater impression as they remained crispy and play an important role in texture contrast, even after a long ride to Jurong. I can’t do without them in my Nasi Lemak! The handmade otah was surprisingly not as spicy as I thought, smooth in terms of consistency but I would preferred a stronger fishy taste and some chargrilled edges. While the fried chicken wing had a crispy batter and rather juicy, I missed the taste of tumeric, perhaps a more popular choice of spice used in the Malay style fried chicken. Now what was interesting was the achar, never expected it would be this potently spicy that would just have kept churning the heat in our tummies non-stop. 🥵

The 2 young ladies at Tree Coconut are offering islandwide delivery at a standard price of $6. Do check them out on Facebook for ordering. They are facing overwhelming orders so do expect some delay in response and remember to place your order in advance to avoid disappointment!
