One of our favourite hangout place on friday night. The ambience was good with nice live band. Finger food with cocktails.
Sub-par food which is pretty disappointing. The burger patty was premade and for some reason couldn’t be cooked to anything other that complete doneness. Turns out the beef patty wasn’t 100% pure beef - but marinated with odd spices which doesn’t quite complement. The cheese within the beef patty was the typical store-bought cheddar which was again disappointing. Pizza was nothing to shout about too. Definitely not visiting again.

Beer Battered Fish & Chips - $22
·
Classic fish and chips but with beer battered fish with homemade tartar sauce. I went with a hungry tummy but the amour served was huge! To a point I can’t even finish the last piece of fried fish, feeling abit sick of it by the end of the meal. The beer batter was alright, but the fish used could do better. I love the fries though. Their Sixty40 burger is a better choice, at $26 it contains a thick beef patty with cheese in it, much more appetising than the fish and chips

Sixty40

It has been three years since I last stepped into Sixty40 for a meal. The Sixty40 Burger (S$26.00) is one of my considerations the next time I come back, after I have tried it today.
The highlight of the burger is probably in the beef patty. Not that the marination is fantastic, but the fact that it contains some cheese fillings changed the game altogether, and even till my last bite, the mozzarella cheese remained slightly molten and soft.
The coleslaw is a bit out of place though, as the chef has added too much of white pepper, so the peppery taste is quite a mismatch to the coleslaw. Same goes for the cucumber slices in the burger; the cucumber skin gets a little out of place because of its texture against meat, coleslaw and bun.
And if I can suggest, their homemade tartar sauce is actually quite good. Best to be used as a dip for the french fries.
Set lunches were at $10.90++ and I went for the Spaghetti Arrabiata out of the 3 options and my colleague went for the Chicken Cutlet. There were free flow pumpkin soup and fresh vegetable with vinaigrette salad which you can help yourselves with, as well as the choice of either orange or calamansi juice. The food was decent and the portion was sufficient, no complains based on just how value-for-money this set is! 👍🏻
The Short Review
Price Range: $12-$13
Nearest MRT: Buona Vista
Instagrammability: Moderate -
A contemporary pub bistro setting.
Food:
1) Grilled Chicken Steak [$10.90+]
Quite unenjoyable. The tender chicken was squandered in a pool of over-salty gravy, while the mash was distinctly artificial.
2) Fried Ocean Fingers [$10.90+]
Portion's slightly sad, but tastes okay.
3) Salad [Free Flow]
Lime Juice [Free Flow]
Mushroom Soup [Free Flow]
Mediocre salad.
Coffeeshop-standard juice.
Soup's more oily than desirable.
Ever since prices has hit rock bottom with their $10.90+ lunch specials, so has Sixty 40.
Come Here: Never.
4 pieces of beer battered fish and deep fried. Loved that there was not much grease which made this a perfect dish with beer.
The cheese should have melted instead of being at its solid state. The beef could have been juicier but the cloeslaw was perfect. It was a pity the ala carte menu was limited. The daily special of the chili crab pasta was not even avaliable as well...
Other than the sixty40 platter, you can also choose your own appetizers to create your own platter. At $12 per dish, a trio platter costs $29, so it's definitely more value to get 3 and share! Here we chose the grilled squid, chicken kebab and sausage & cheesy curry mash. Former 2 aren't too bad but the latter wasn't too popular between us.
Sixty40 platter consists of some of the crowd pleasers like truffle fries and crunchy wings as well as crispy prawns and crystal bread. Nothing to shout about but a great platter for sharing along with drinks.
A very good deal for brunch where you get to pick and choose your brunch combination.
Amazing ambience with friendly staff and live music. The food was yummy too - while you would expect the sharing platters to be standard fried fare, it's clear that this restaurant takes pride in their food. The items were cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of batter and seasoning.
Mix and match appetizer to create something to share with your booze!
🍝 They have very affordable lunch sets with free flow soup of the day and drinks. ✌🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
