Really disappointed in serving size and like half size for bowl tbh. 🥲🙃 so but then they got 10% discount for student and staff still ok ($6.85). But then vegan tomato sauce is slightly thick texture for the tbh and also the ingredients given is not that much.

we were in the area and decided to eat at smu! wanted to eat at onalu bagel haus but we came too late and they were out of bagels 💔

- cream sauce + smoked duck breast + sous vide egg + corn ($6.10)
there’s a min order of 3 toppings but blind me didn’t read the board properly and panicked when the person asked for my third.. so i went with corn… should’ve picked a meat 😭

overall pasta was rlly rlly good for the price eh i think it’s quite comparable to twyst’s for almost half the price, and more toppings!! they gave quite a lot of smoked duck which i wasn’t expecting but am thankful for, it was so tender i’m craving it now…

also tried the curry katsu from the curry store but i couldn’t tag the store oops
the katsu was sliced thinly which is what i LOVE bc thick slices makes it hard to chew and i have the taste palate of a toddler; curry was also very sufficient for the price??

also got thai milk tea from the thai food store ($2)
it’s not too sweet and quite a lot for $2!! the lady provided me with a fork to mix the condensed milk bc it will sink to the bottom over time HAHAH

overall if i get an offer from smu i will seriously consider it… for the food 😅

🍝 Aglio Olio Pasta
📍Pasta Express (@pastaexpress.sg)
📌 SMU Connexion / NTU
💰 $3.30 base (+$0.60 / $1.20 per ingredient)

One fine Friday afternoon, I visited my friend at SMU with the motive of trying the famous Pasta Express stall. Passing by SMU always reminds me of how if I had brains, I should be studying in Uni right now, but I'm not smart so I dropped out of JC instead while all my former J1 classmates are off getting their degrees. But that's a different story. I've been wanting to try Pasta Express for a really long time and I finally did it!

Pasta Express allows you to choose from 3 bases (aglio olio, carbonara and tomato) and add on a minimum of 3 ingredients. I chose to add a sous vide egg, onions and mushrooms because I decided to be a healthful, meat-free goddess. Actually I ordered the chicken breast too but the stall vendor didn't hear me so let's just pretend that I decided to be a PETA advocate for a day and go meat-free ok?

The aglio olio is hella BUSSINNN it's flavourful with a nice amount of chopped garlic and chilli to give it a bit of a spicy kick. I generously doused my aglio olio in parmesan and chilli flakes because I evidently have no shame and t'was BUSSINNNNN x2. The sous vide egg was cooked perfectly and was so soft and runny. The mushrooms tasted like those canned kinds but who cares it was good. Onions were kinda drowned out cuz they were cooked and the flavour disappeared so give this ingredient a skip.

My friend got the chicken pieces and I didn't try them but for $1.20 you get like 5 or so little cubes soooo yeah skip. Just go vegetarian for Pasta Express cuz the meat portions are too tiny for the price imo.

Fun fact, I ordered this during lunch hour with my friend and the stall owner gave me a student discount even though I didn't ask for it and didn't have a lanyard or anything. Shiok. I would 100% sneak into SMU and piggyback off of my SMU friend again to get that student price. Its worth the potential humiliation once the store owners realise I'm actually an impostor and kick me out of the smu space craft.

I wasn't really expecting much and indeed, it indeed tasted a watery, but I found the pastas here worth it! The portions were very big -- even after finishing all the pasta, I found that there was a lot of toppings left over. They even have pretty high-class choices like smoked duck, onsen egg, and mushrooms! I think that's not bad for something only around $5.
