A limited-time puff shaped like recent puffs that are bigger. Inspired by the Eurasian devil's curry. Good for people who find OCK's curry puffs not spicy enough. This wasn't overpowering but the spice stayed with me after finishing.

Didn't know Old Chang Kee has beehoon until now #slow 😂 But anyway it's quite worth it. For this price you get such a big bowl of beehoon. Downside is no meat (fishcake not counted lol) but I aint complaining cause this is really filling. True to its name, it's honestly very dry but not much laksa taste to it. Would highly recommend to add chili cause it definitely give you the kick 😜 I guess you can say no HAM trying right 😉

😍

I found myself craving for the beehoon from Old Chang Kee from the previous time I ate so here I am again! ✌🏻 This time round I got the white beehoon ($1.60) with Sotong Ball Onstik ($1.60) & Crab Nugget Onstik ($1.80). 💕
.
Honestly, there was no (or very subtle) difference between the crab nuggets and fish fillet that I had previously. 😂 They all were mainly seasoned flour, which I somehow enjoyed after spamming their sweet chilli sauce as these crispy treats were fried to perfection. 😋
.
I must say that I am surprisingly impressed by their rendition of white beehoon! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Do not be deceived by its unattractively white appearance – I was also duped into believing that this white version would be lighter in taste than the brown beehoon. With the first bite, I was proven wrong - the white beehoon was so savoury and flavourful! 🤩🤩🤩
.
Coupled with refreshing crunchy cabbage & carrot shreds, fragrant crispy fried shallots and mixing in the spicy chilli, the beehoon tasted so good on its own! 🤤 Those fried foods were completely outshone by this unassuming contender! ❤
.
Would totally order this white beehoon again next time! 👌🏻 Have u tried it & what do u think?

So my first 2019 lifting shot is BEE HOON! 🤣 Here are 3 easy steps to customise your meal at Old Chang Kee (available for breakfast & early lunch hours till sold out) 🤩🤩🤩
.
🔹️Step 1: Choose your preferred noodle type! ✔ There is fried beehoon (brown or white, $1.60), dry meesiam ($2.60), dry laksa beehoon ($2.60) or satay beehoon ($2.60). Ask for the chilli at the side - trust me, this chilli has got that spicy kick that enhances the overall flavours of your beehoon greatly! 🔥 Their fried shallots are also addictively crispy & aromatic! 🤤
.
🔹️Step 2: Choose your favourite add-ons! 💕 You’d be spoilt for choice with the range of fried items (from $1.40 onwards) OCK has on their menu, ranging from the classics like chicken wing ($1.80), spring roll ($1.50), chicken nuggets ($1.70) to more premium items like Jumbo Chicken Leg ($3.90) or Chicken Chunky Pops with Cheese Sauce ($2.90).
.
🔹️Step 3: Add some sweet chilli sauce on your fried food items & VOILA~ u’re good to enjoy your customised meal! ❤❤❤

I had the fried brown beehoon ($1.60) with Sotong Ball Onstik ($1.60) & Fish Fillet Onstik ($1.80). I really liked the crunchy cabbage and carrot shreds in the beehoon (which I hoped that there was more), and that the vermicelli wasn’t overly salty nor greasy. 👍🏻 It was actually pretty tasty! 😋😋😋
.
Can’t go wrong with the classic cuttlefish balls with a nice springy chew. ✌🏻 The lightly batted fish fillet nuggets were perfectly crispy on the outside, but I didn’t quite like it as it was more of flour than fish; is there even any to begin with? 🤔

Overall, this filled me up with a taste of home. 😊

Got these babies omw home because who can say no to a 2-for-$4 deal?!? Since their last attempt to join the “local flavors” frenzy (recall their Nasi lemak puff), they’ve put considerably more thought into conceiving their latest Chili Crab ‘O’!! Each handmade puff is stuffed with shredded crab & strips of egg which are bound together by an incredibly traditional-tasting chili crab sauce!!! Well I wouldn’t have minded more crab but this is more than enough to rekindle my love for OCK😭 Definitely gonna get me some durian & jackfruit puffs at their curry day party this weekend!!!

First off, the brownish-green exterior is a little off-putting. Note that no one complained when McDonald’s did it with their nasi lemak burger. Why? Because the colour actually signified something - the presence of coconut essence, which paralleled nasi lemak’s coconut rice. Yet, on the first bite, it’s clear all the crust contains is food coloring.

On the inside, the sambal chili unfortunately lacked the “shiok” factor. Overly sweet and insufficiently flavorful, it only served to bind ingredients together as a generic base sauce. To be fair, I’m a chili aficionado who isn’t easily pleased but the fillings fell short of expectations too; ikan bilis were soggy, peanuts at that stale semi-soft stage, all mushed among unidentifiable strips of who-knows-what...ugh, what a disappointment.

I had high hopes for old Chang kee, but my final verdict? Stick to their signature curry-o puff!
