Lol can’t believe I got to try Song Fa only recently though I have been here in SG for almost 7 years 🙈 (one of the few places I didn’t have the patience to queue on 😅)

Opted for their pork ribs lunch set that comes with pork ribs soup, rice, dough fritters, nuts/veggies. Meat falls off the bone - really tender and soft. Soup is as peppery and garlicky as I want it to be (though could be a bit overpowering for some). Enjoyed it more with the dough fritters soaked into the soup. The braised groundnuts side is appetizing and flavourful as well

Service is good, staff is attentive for soup refills

Squeezing in one SG post between my PH feed flood 😆

We had the Chaoshan beef hotpot served with 4 soup bases (ox tail, mala, tomato, and mushroom). Personally loved the ox tail for its richness (though could border to a bit salty but can always counter w the veggies), and mushroom with its earthiness

The set comes with beef maltique striploin and black pork. Both come very handy on making our hotpot experience enjoyable. Rest of the set offerings are the usuals (prawn, shrimp paste, veggies, golden mushroom, beancurd skin, etc)

Unlike other hotpots wherein the default dipping sauce is with sesame, we were provided shacha sauce which I surprisingly liked. Was taken aback a bit on my first dip but immediately acquired the taste - quite similar to other dried shrimp paste in PH

Promo price is quite reasonable as it’s good for 4. Might wanna add a few more orders on the side to ensure full tummies 😛

Thanks again @tianfangpavilionchaoshanhotpot for hosting and @burpple for the invite! 🤍

First time trying udon (yes, very very late)! Though the dish didn’t disappoint, I don’t think it’s any special :( nothing wrong with Tamoya’s, it’s just noodle preference I guess 😅 I guess I am comparing it against ramen also? Hence the lighter and thicker noodles wouldn’t actually hit the spot.

Any tips for udon newbies? I intens to give it another shot! 😂

Yes, I know Ichiran is readily available in Donki, but eating the real one prepared in the restaurant is still way better 🥲

Had this in the middle of a very hot afternoon. Ramen doesn’t choose any weather - good anytime, anywhere

I know Ichiran is overrated but I still really enjoy it everytime I try it. I think the hype makes it taste better too 😂

Menya Musashi is still my favorite ramen place in Vivo, especially now that they have lunch sets (cheap and practical find lol) 😁 Ordered this white tonkatsu ramen with chashu. Set comes with a choice of side, and a drink ($12.90++). Broth is savoury and rich just how I want it. Noodles are not too soft, nor very hard. Chashu might be a bit small but very tasty. Love their tamago as weeeell 😍 perfect for today’s very cold day ❤️

Lol). Soaking it into their refillable peppery BKT soup really brings out the good taste of the broth. The ribs are normal, but on lucky days you get the tender ones 😂 Their set ($11.10++) comes with a cup of rice and tau huey (really nice also) as well. One of our go-tos during rainy days (and just because there’s not much options near our workplace 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Though famous for their prawn mee, opted for pork ribs soup on this cold day. Enjoyed it a lot! Soup is very tasty with tender pork ribs.

Loved this creamy Wild Forest Mushroom Soup (~$5). Paired it with their Calamari (~$7) (lol I know it’s weird, but cravings 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Ordered their Half and Half Sandwich Set ($12.50+) for my slight soup cravings. Always love mushroom soups that do not taste like out of cans/powdered formula, and theirs is one of my fave 👌🏻 paired it with tuna sandwich as the taste could come as a bit strong if i finish a whole bowl. Would love to see consistency (or rather taste) though on TSS branches. NEX is very good, the one I tried in ARC is quite bland :(

This Old Street Bak Kut Teh combo ($11.10+ only!) is just perfect for the rainy day. The set comes with bak kut teh, you tiao and tau huey. The soup is on the good peppery side, and served with generously meaty ribs. Wasn't used to this type of BKT as the one in KL is savoury but this is really nice, I must say. Don't forget to soak your you tiao to the soup; the absorbed taste is just the best. Their tau huey is perfect too for not sweet tooth people like me. 👌🏻

Btw, Hougang's branch still has its 1 for 1 promotion for M-F, making it a better deal 😁

Rainy days call for ramen! Got this Cha Shu Ramen set at $13.90++ - including a choice of side and a drink.

The ramen was aesthetically-perfect and very enticing. When I slurped the soup though, the broth seems to be a bit dull - lacking the savoury pork taste. Noodles is just how I liked it - crunchy and still a bit hard. I didn't like that it has a loooot of bean sprouts :( and worst is the cha shu, it is very chewy. Had this concensus among my colleagues 😅
