Cheese Pork Katsu Set - $21.80
Β·
I love tonkatsu and this time I tried the savoury version, their cheese is sandwiched in between, and oozy when cutlet is getting cooked. Love the cheese oozes out from tender pork cutlet, love the shredded cabbage that balances out the flavours

Tried the premium pork loin and the pork fillet cutlet ($18) - both were pretty similar. Pork was mostly lean with some fatty parts, it was moist enough and not tough/dry. I particularly enjoyed the panko part, which was really crispy but didn’t feel greasy, and it didn’t separate from the meat. The edges were my fav parts bc those pieces had more panko crust! The tonkatsu sauce was sweet and tangy, and tgt with a squeeze of lemon, was great with the pork.

Felt the sesame could have been more fragrant - hajime’s sesame was rly good in comparison, here they served whole sesame seeds; crushing the sesame seeds would have allowed for the release of oils/fragrance. Miso soup was chock full of ingredients - seaweed, tofu skin, and cubed soft tofu. I really liked the Japanese rice, it was a good quality and delicious one! They also serve free flow shredded cabbage with sesame sauce, which comes in a large bowl and served before the mains arrive. Pretty standard, similar to those served in tonkatsu places that doesn’t have that raw cabbage smell that I dislike (like in certain coleslaws).

Overall a good place for tonkatsu - liked this slightly more than Ma Maison and hajime. Worth a return visit!

Melt-in-your-mouth unagi & egg on warm rice; a very comforting bowl indeed πŸ₯°

Also had the π„ππˆ πŸππ‚ & πŽπ˜π’π“π„π‘ πŸππ‚ ($πŸπŸ“). Huge pieces fried till crispy🍀, though a little oily. I especially liked the oyster, which had a creamyyy centre against its crunchy tempura shell πŸ¦ͺ

Wanted to try as many new places as possible while I’m off work. Since the Public Izakaya was closing soon (I wanted to get oden), I ended up at Imakatsu (which specialises in tonkatsu and employs Japanese waitstaff). Felt like having something hot so I had udon w/ free flow salad after my last pilates class for the year πŸ€—
